Critics' Lounge / Re: MIDI files for c&c

The problem with both of those tunes is that they are very random. There doesn't seem to be a main melody, just a bunch of instruments being played at random.

I quite like a couple of parts in "Song", but the overall randomness kind of ruins it for me. With some modifications it could work in a horror game of some sort, I guess, but in its current stage it's too undefined. Same for "Intro", at the moment it sounds a bit too "busy".

I don't know how long you've been making music, but I recall my first tunes being very similar. Keep practicing. I learned a lot by studying other people's music (mostly m0ds', because he was/is the god of midis and he was pretty much only one who had his music available back in the days).

Critics' Lounge / Re: C&C - Background

I realise some of these things have already been said, but...

- Do I even need to mention the lens flare?
- As Ildu said, the image lacks red. The sand could do with a slightly more red in it, perhaps.
- The colouring of the trees in the background looks a bit hurried. I mean, the tree trunks especially. Make them brown, rather than green.
- Again, as Ildu said, I can see you've tried to imitate CMIsh clouds, but something is missing. The shading. Follow Ildu's advice (that is, if you really want to make the clouds exactly like in CMI).

Other than that, very nice work. I'm looking forward to more of your stuff, it's very inspiring.

General Discussion / Re: CD Cover

When designing stuff that will be printed, it's good to remember to make it big enough. CD covers are 12cm x 12cm and to make sure it will be good quality when printed, resolution 300 pixels/inch is enough. But you probably knew that already.

As for the design, I kinda agree with 2ma2. I realise the gradient follows your current colour scheme, but it doesn't look very good. And yes, definately change the font.

Lots of very good entries, nice job everyone.

Best idea - Rel
Hehe, very nice and innovative!

Best design - Andail
I love the atmosphere and colours, and I could imagine it being in a game like Tulle's World.

Best functionality - He-Man
What Ildu said.

Best technique - Andail
Again, what Ildu said.

Wow.

I'm definately doing my best to buy the cd-version. The demo was really interesting, I loved the atmosphere.

I'll have to see if I'm able to order stuff from outside of Finland. I reeeeaally want to buy this game. And if I can't, I'm hoping to buy a copy from you at Lapaset!

Use anti-alias on the font. Definately.

The colour scheme doesn't look too bad, but the words "drama", "avontuur" etc. seem too randomly placed.

petteri sounds like a fast-speaking stephen hawking. :)

Haha, best line ever. I'll take that as a compliment.

Haha.

Eek! Hmm. You could go to http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/ ---> Image Gallery ---> Search ---> Type in 'black cat' or something and you should find the picture. But as I said, it's a very bad picture. :P

- I saw a wild Puma cat or something in Berkshire! That was freaky!

Interesting enough, I've read about something similar. Here's a picture: http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=search&cat=0&pos=0 (extremely bad picture!) I couldn't find the article I read once though. I guess Google has more info.

Paranormal is intriguing. I love tv-shows and movies that are about paranormal. I haven't experienced anything really paranormal myself, but I'd love to. Though I guess I'd be freaked out, I'm afraid of being alone in the dark... you never know what's out there.

Tuesday is coming, did you bring your coat?

(edit: yes, I love it. So surreal and so funny. I recommend everyone to watch it.)

I had some friends who were into Warhammer. They would travel to Helsinki (over 300km) to a special store to buy Warhammer stuff. I don't know if they ever actually played, I never even saw their Warhammer stuff when visiting them.

By the way, whatever happened to Andail's RPG he was designing at Mittens? We were supposed to play (or rather, people were supposed to play, I was going to watch other people play) but never got around doing so.

Petteri's t-shirts still pwn ._.

Thanks. \o/

I used a stencil and cloth ink stuff to make t-shirts for my friends last christmas. They were in awe and actually have been wearing those shirts ALL THE TIME.

Anyways, I used Evil's stencil. First I printed the picture on a sheet of paper, then I took a sheet of plastic transparency, placed the printed picture under it and used a sharp knife to cut a stencil shaped hole on the transparency. The I placed the the stencil on the shirt, cut a piece of a sponge, dipped it into ink and in a moment I had a neat t-shirt ready. Of course, I ironed it before giving it out, with a piece of baking paper over the picture.

Here:

As for the other t-shirts I have... printing shops.

Hooooooly...!

Welcome back, N3tty! \o/ That's the best news I've heard today, and I work for the local newspaper.

Never disappear again.

I just got the best t-shirt ever.

Also, notice the wristband.

Heh.

There seemed to be some lag in my interview, too.

Nice interviews, everyone. And it was nice to be interviewed. I'm sorry for the humming on the background and the ear-exploding puffing when I laughed, I used a microphone that was attached to my headphones.

Zooty had nice voice, it was nice to hear Andail again and Chicky's voice is veeeeeeery deep.

Yes, most of the speedruns are done with the help of an emulator, usually played in slow motion and save states. They are very interesting to watch though. For more info, http://bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/

Then there's of course Mike Fireball who just simply rocks.

2D platformerish here too. Not as C-64ish as I wanted, you decide if it's a proper entry or not, ProgZ0r.

Hear!

Inkoddi wins!
