Great! That did the trick. Thank you again, you're the greatest. :)

Holy crap, tube! That really seemed to be the case! Echoing $folder only displayed the name of the directory, not full path. It's still giving me some errors - "Undefined variable: picCount", "Undefined variable: dirArray" and "Invalid argument supplied for foreach()" - but hey, at least the images are displayed now! Now I just have to try and figure out how to get rid of those errors. I guess I have to supply foreach() with something else than $folder?

Thank you so much for your help, by the way. You're a real lifesaver!

"testi" is the name of the subdirectory under "images/galleria/promokuvat". The part of the code that prints the name of the subdirectory to the page actually works. Could it be $dir = $dir."/"; part that adds "testi/" to "testi", equaling to "testitesti/"? Then again, I'm not sure if that makes any sense... I can't remember if that's actually how it's supposed to work? And why the echo with realpath() doesn't include "testi" at all?

As for why to do all from scratch... I want to learn.
Good for you, except maybe a tight deadline isn't the right time to do things the hard way on purpose. (As if I have never done the same mistake. :))

Well, I did start coding the page weeks ago and left the image page last - I had an old code similar to this and I though modifying it a bit would be a piece of cake. Turned out it wasn't!

Adding realpath() gave me "unexpected {" error on the line that has opendir().

I put echo $dir; and echo realpath($dir); before opendir() - echo $dir; printed "images/galleria/promokuvat/" and echo realpath($dir); printed "/var/www/vhosts/yadapops.com/httpdocs/jrh/images/galleria/promokuvattesti
testi/". Neither of those are correct!

As for why to do all from scratch... I want to learn.

I've been working on my first big project involving php lately. It's a website for a band and they wanted the site to be easily updated by themselves, so update system written in php was a natural choice. I've had pretty much everything else nailed down now, but I'm having problems with the image gallery page. I'm desperate enough to post about this on the AGS forums because it seems I can't get help anywhere else.

Basically, it's going to be quite a simple system. The band uploads the images in a directory via ftp. The page then goes through all the subdirectories under given root directory, prints all the names of subdirectories on the page and then displays the images from the directories under the names.

I posted about it on the php freaks forum, but didn't really get any useful help. The thread can be found at http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php/topic,183582.msg822546.html#msg822546

The deadline is tomorrow... please, I really need help.

I second all of of Darth's suggestions, I was actually going to suggest Ratt's Round And Round and Europe's Final Countdown as well. Cinderella's Shake Me could possibly work too.

It really depends on what kind of a mood for the medley you're going for - if you're planning to include only power rock anthems (in the style of Here I Go Again, Pour Some Sugar on Me, Heaven's on Fire, Jump, Youth Gone Wild etc.) then obviously Europe's Carrie or Skid Row's 18 And Life won't work. Another song I was going to suggest was Poison's Fallen Angel, but that's not really a rock anthem either. Unskinny Bop could work, but it was released in 1990, so technically it's not an 80s song!

Of course it's really hard to select only 7 - 10 80s rock songs, so I'm not going to suggest anything else. There's enough good stuff in your original list, so you could easily pull this off with those songs already.

I love you.

Definitely include Van Halen's Jump, or alternatively Panama. Bon Jovi is a good choice too, Livin' on a Prayer or You Give Love a Bad Name should work fine. Pour Some Sugar on Me by Def Leppard is a natural choice as well. Other than that, I would pick Whitesnake's Here I Go Again, Quiet Riot's Cum on Feel the Noize and Twisted Sister's We're Not Gonna Take It.

One song missing from your list is Skid Row's Youth Gone Wild, you just have to include that one! Also, KISS have a bunch of songs that would fit in there somewhere. Heaven's on Fire would probably sit in your medley just fine.

Do let us know when you've got the whole thing up and ready, can't wait to hear it!

Yes, you're correct. Frickin' ace, 80s was the best decade ever and you can't really get much more 80s than that. Ahh wonderful, just wonderful.

Hehe, it seems it's time for Necro's annual comeback post again!

Welcome back, mate.

When I think of these forums now, I think of words like "serious", "dry" and "straightlaced". There tends to be very little playfulness and lot of seriousness here.

These two threads came to my mind after reading DG's post:
Shoes for Santa Claus' wife
Dog pixel art

I miss that! Then again, I haven't really read the forum properly in ages, so perhaps there has been more similar threads recently. I just don't find the forum as interesting as it used to be for me anymore.

Seriously though, given the trouble some people have at "crossing the pond", I think it's only fair to hold next Mittens in Europe if the last one was in America. Also, we should try to hold one in Australia one of these years.

This really goes both ways, as you're going to have people on either side who can't/won't come every time.  Australia would be great, but we've already tried that once and it didn't work.

Also, I don't really think the "it's fair to hold it in Europe because it was in North America last time" argument is valid, considering the first 2 Mittens were in Europe, followed by the USA one, then two more consecutive European ones before this year's in Canada.

Agreed.

I would vote for Miami, but there doesn't seem to be any vote anymore, so it doesn't seem to matter. I have always wanted to visit Florida, but I have never wanted to visit France. So the question is, should I skip Mittens France and save the money for Mittens Florida so that I can definitely afford to go there, or should I go to France and hope I can afford to go to Florida too?

It seems that flights to France are quite cheap, though, so it's likely I could afford it. And seeing that other Finns might be going too I'll just start saving now.

Nice to see it back, there were some good features in it.

However.

Those screenshots of Goldlagoon are terrible. What the hell was I thinking back when I drew some of those graphics? Sure, things got revamped and stuff, but I can only imagine what was going in my mind when I came up with some of that shit. The "remade" version of the game would have been awesome, too bad the project kind of exploded in my hands.

Oh, and a nice picture of me.

Also, the midi tutorial? I didn't even know some basic musical terms back then! Hilariously embarrassing.

Snake, you motherfucker!

Good to see things are progressing! I'm still looking forward to this one, but I guess you already knew this.

Just a small, friendly advice. Stop remaking everything over and over again! I understand that you might want the game to be perfect when it's done, but it's good to know when to give up on certain things and move on. Otherwise you'll never get it done (especially when you're working mainly alone). Just look at me, I should know. I have abandoned so many promising (?) projects because I wanted them to be perfect, but it was just too much for me to handle, I ended up remaking graphics, storyline, music etc. After all, you can't spend ages on school assignments, but it's still possible to get grand grades!

Now finish the damn game!

PS. Hardily hoodily hoo. ;)

While we are on the subject, what are the games:

Between Apprentice 2 and Mind's Eye?: Woodlands (there's a demo available)
To the right of 1213?: RotN: Time Out (from the trailer)
To the left of Indy and the Crown of Solomon?: Err, I believe you mean the close-up of man's face? It was some game that got cancelled, if I recall right.
Between The Uncertainty Machine and Astranded?: Demonslayer 4.

Here's the similar thread from one and a half years back, by the way: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=24319.0
