good luck getting microsoft to send a free cd  :P

Teh cheap bums!

A similar thing happened to me... I brought a computer from a family friend who owned a computer business - it came with win 98 (obviously this was a couple of years ago) already installed and activated.

When we had problems, Microsoft got all chummy with us, saying "yes, of COURSE we'll help you! We are multi-billion dollar company with heaps to spare!" and then they tried to tell us that everything I'd done was illegal (it wasn't, I assure you. That's why I still have money...)

And yet I know of people who managed to scam a whole computer FREE from microsoft....

go figure...

Take care, Alynn!

Make us proud.

(And then write a game about it ;) )

point taken :D

But, despite best efforts, first-time games rarely make the 'astounding' grade.

Or is that just me ?! ;)

correct me if I'm wrong, but the pink bits are actually the guy's shirt, which you can see through the gaps in the steering wheel.

It looks ok to me, although something a little less... violent wouldn't hurt.

The most noticeable thing is the fact that there are no seats. The rest is just perspective.

Apart from that, it looks great.

I like the comic!

I'm a christian, [so insert random comments about how various bits were oh-so-slightly offensive blah blah blah], but on the whole, I thought it was very well done.

Your humour is similar to mine... 'bout a year ago I wrote a whole series about a pickle who was granted super-powers. Surprisingly, his name was Super Pickle.

I loved the bit about the spinach and the 10 commandments...

"well...not really"... haha :D

haha!

It's like C&C for a sig...  ;D

yeah - that front wheel looks like it's falling out, while the back one seems to be almost going in (?) And maybe 'cartoonize' it a bit more. The two styles (cartoon/realistic) very rarely work well together.

As for the pothole in the road... I don't know EXACTLY how you'd fix it, but to me, it looks like something that would sit ON TOP of the street (ie - a seriously deformed rock), as opposed to something that's below street level.

But otherwise jolly good stuff :D
#671
yeah - that's what I mean. I assume CJ would only want to put up games that reflect the true potential of AGS, which would cut the number of banners significantly, because most people are just out to 'make a game', as opposed to 'make a GREAT game'.

With such a limited number of possible banners, surely SOMEONE out there would have the problem of it's-always-the-same-banner-and-it's-annoying. no?

It's almost like over-promotion for one game, and under-promotion for another. I'm not saying that this will be a big point of debate, but there must be a fairer way to select which banner shows, rather than just randomize it...
#672
Amen, brother.

I hate people who can draw well
(not really)

I like Vel's entry.

It's very clear and concise. No mix-up about it being the 'home-page' for his game or what-not, PLUS it looks pretty groovy.

The only other thought I had, was that if it's only a limited number of banners submitted (5 or so), then it's quite possible for the SAME banner to be thrown up repeatedly using the random method. Would it be possible to 'sequence' them, so that every time you open the site, a cookie remembers what the last banner was, and selects ANOTHER one?!
#674
A mirror would be nice, yes.

I had it, and then said bye bye. And I don't know why...

WOO HOO!

PAPPA SMURF EATS MY TROUSERS AND I LOVE HIM FOR IT!

I thought that sig would never happen
#676
ja. Welcome to the forums.

Don't START using ags with a vision to create a mind-blowing game. Because that's just crap.

Mess around with it. Do whatever you want, even if you don't understand it, and KEEP doing it. After a while you'll be like "oh! I remember that funtion!"

Once that starts to happen you're on the road to happy game making.

And welcome once again

What it really means is: Rotary Organ Tension Fluctuation Latency.

Though what that has to do with Remixor's post I guess we will never know...
#678
I like the rotating banner idea. It would increase interest in games, since people actually KNOW what game they're looking at.

I'm guessing a LOT of newcomers wouldn't have a clue where that dog came from, yes? or that very last image on the right - it's impossible to tell what it is unless you've played the game.

At least with a WHOLE BANNER dedicated to a game, people see it and think "ooh! goody!" or "ooh! crappy!" as opposed to just "ooh! wtf?!"
#679
the message seems to be quite obvious:

anyone?!
#680
nope. I have not started yet.

But that is my habit.

The last contest I only wrote it the night before...

I will enter, though, I promise......
