I largely agree with minimi, but don't let that discourage you.

Undoubtedly you want to make this game JUST AS MUCH for you as for the community, so nothing we say should really matter. As long as you like it for yourself, that's what counts...

Okay, not really. Everyone knows you feel crap when other people don't like your stuff, so DO try to make it appealing, but don't FOCUS on me, or minimi, or anyone else's opinions. Do it for yourself, and if you're worried no one will like it, then don't post it. That way you can live in denial about it, and it'll all be ok.

Either the first or last game.

I tend to lean towards the first, though. It's easier for people to believe in a drug addicted detective than a world ruled by computers. This, of course, creates problems of its own (creating realism etc), but I think it's more 'involving' for the player, and it sounds like you really want to make a good impression with this game.

Don't give up on your 1984 idea, though. If it is REALLY a good idea, it will be just as good 1 year from now as it is today. And by then you'll have had more experience, and you'll truly know your way around AGS and the community. But don't be too ambitious about your second ever game.

Okay - in case I've waffled too much, and ya'll have forgotten my point: I say go with game #1!!!

But ask the rest of the community as well.....

EDIT: They all sound like cool games. Not quite sure about the middle one, though. Just my humble opinion...

the "negative feedback" is about the scam, not Flippy's poem.

Point taken.

I interpreted it as everyone bagging Flippy for being so 'stupid' to 'fall for' this scam.

And Peter, I agree broken glass doesn't do miracles for your gut.

Wise judgement...

Like turpentine, metholated spirits, unleaded petrol, radiator fluid...

And water, and fruit juice, and egg nog, and milkshakes...

I'd be happy to work on something like this if you want.....

I work primarily in midi (coz I just love that kinda corny sound you get) but if I EVER get my mp3 software working again (hopefully near future, like next two/three weeks) I'll be able to work in... wait for it... MP3!!!

If you can post a screenshot, I can whip up something with the feel your after and post it as a kind of 'test hearing'.

people, people! Why beer?

There are things SO much nicer than beer?

Heck... I'd drink broken glass over beer.

I mean, seriously, it doesn't really work miracles for your gut, does it... well... not the sort of miracles you'd WANT....

Is that relevant?

EDIT: Is ANYTHING relevant? I mean, seriously, think about it guys..... what if EVERYTHING you know is just a dream... and there was a RED pill, and a BLUE pill, and you had to take one... for some reason or another, and you never could tell which one did what, and you swallowed BOTH of them...

Actually.. that DOES pose an interesting question. What would have becometh of Neo had he devoured BOTH pills?

Wow - my posts always lead to stimulating and PIVOTAL discussion.  8)

Congratulations!!

Geez, sounds like there's a lot of negative feedback here for someone who can write a damn good poem.

Whether there's a scam involved or not shouldn't effect your perception of the quality of the poem, and I really like it. Of course, you must BEWARE the pitfalls of poetry.com and be cautious not to get sucked in too deep, but at the same time, you have my hugest congratulations.  8)

Mango and Apricot nectar.

This be my current addiction. I can't seem to kick it, and I don't really WANT to, either...

I LOVE THIS COMPETITION!!!!!!
YAYYY!!!

I was thinking about starting one of these competitions myself, but I wasn't sure what kind of reaction there would be, so I didn't say anything.

But now I owe my life to LGM for making my dreams come true. *sigh*. This makes me smile so much!

I shall get started right away

Haha! Surge is so cool!

That last picture of the man escaping marriage is the best bit of all!!

Actually, I like them all.

I would never have picked up on the fellatio reference myself, but as soon as I read it I was like:
"that is so obvious! and funny! argh! that's disgustingly humourous."

This is a really creepy game! And I LOVE it!

Normally these type of games are just lame, but there's something about this one that's... different.

I adore the small-screen type thing, and those three stooges are cool (even for coloured text)

That's one hot mamma you got yourself there, Iwan!

I love how her head gets sucked off. Though I do agree that de-pixelating her body would be cool. And the U.F.O does come to a rather quick halt, without actually slowing down much.

Apart from these things (which I didn't even consider until others pointed them out) I think you've got yourself a very cool intro.

*Investigate the environment day and night, in sunny or reainy weather.

Coolness! I get bored with the ever-sunny concept. First time I played Pleurghburg and saw mist I was  :o

*Between 20-30 hours of gameplay.

This be cool. I approve greatly.

PLUS your site is VERY professional. It's the kind of thing you'd expect someone from an established company like Gaspop to put up.

One thing, you might want to fix up some of the spelling mistakes. But that's just my niggle. Apart from that, this looks like a KICK@$$ Game!!
