Hi everyone! I have a slight problem, and that problem is this: I have a lan on this weekend and I know everyone is gonna want to play CoD/CoD II. The problem is I can't run it on my laptop.
Everytime I run it it tells me to update my video drivers, I've tried doing this by downloading a driver off the net and it didnt work. I have the second latest version of directX (9.0b), and can run everything else fine, (doom III [with lag], quake, warcraft III etc.)

The laptop I am running is an Asus running XP, pentium 4, 256 meg ram, the video adapter is an SiS m650_651_650_740 with 32 meg ram.

Does anyone know where I can get the appropriate drivers before Saturday?

Thanks a lot,

Zor

General Discussion / Lord Of War - seen it?
Sat 17/12/2005 12:14:26
Saw this film last night. It's a very good film and Nicholas Cage is excellent.

A lot of the scenes were shot in my home town, Cape Town - South Africa.

It was weird because the place that was supposed to be the president of Liberia (or something)'s main office was actually just a popular theatre for drama and dance here!

Anyway, anyone have anything they want to say?

But please don't give out spoilers in this thread (Dont even hide them!)

Well ... There I am, innocent as always, typing away at new code for a project; Blissfully unaware of the horror that lurks just above my head. I finish my code, lift up my arms and lay them behind my head to rest. I am happy. The code works, it runs. I look around and take a breather. There's nothing like stale air to cool you off after a session at the PC. My eyes float upwards, upwards to the infernal being that rests its weary soul on my wall, and I fall out my chair; Yes, fall out my chair.
If you have any sort of phobia or have ever had any sort of phobia then you can understand the extreme terror that wells up inside as you gaze at a beast such as this. Yes, I know there are some spider pacifists out there who permanently tell you and anyone who'll listen (and even if they don't listen, they talk anyway) about the peaceful nature of the arachnid, but that's not the point! The fact is, I have a phobia and to some that may be a sign of weakness, but I can't help it. It's not like I have control over the fact that I'm scared shitless of a humoungous demon that has arrived straight out of the fiery depths of hell. Anyway, back to the story:
So there I am, gazing up my fiendish fiend, for what else a fiend but fiendish? It's a war of wills - my heart pounding my ribcage out, my short, staccatoed breaths readying my lungs for popping - while my adversary, ignorant of my personal vendetta, retains his cool. This is part where I start to freak out, I mean like, I totally lose it. I sprint for the door, slam it open and ram it shut behind me. I think. I breath. I think clearer. I breath again. I think of it's legs; it's horrific pole-legs. I think of it's head; those razor-sharp pincers. I think of it's ability to move; swift like the wind, and I freak out again.
"What if it moves? What if there's more of them? WHAT IF IT MOVES, MAN???" I think, nearly hysterical. Inquisitive, but by no means intending to get too close, I edge open the door. Sweat is dripping from my forehead now, and I see the beast again, perched in it's roost on my wall.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, that's essentially how I stay for the rest of my afternoon: Entranced by my own predator.

Here's a picture I managed to snap of the beast:

Well, I went to go pick up my monthly issue of PCFormat -- when I looked at the disc (twas a double sided DVD) -- and right there was AGS!
It wasn't mentioned inside the mag, just on the disc.

Here's a screenshot of what they had to say about it:

I think it's in the British one as well, check it out!

World Map.

Just wondering what's been happening with this thing - it's been offline for quite some time now.

Anyone know anything about this?

Wow, I got this book  yesterday after searching for ages because everywhere was sold out!

Despite being smaller than the previous two books, it is in fact a spectacular read so far, I'm really enjoying the style in which the whole thing is written.
Just one thing that annoys me though is the way that Rowling seems to think she has to add a different creature into the story every book. First giant spiders, then dementors and now zombies? Sounds a bit silly if you ask me.

Anyway, post your comments on the book and be sure to hide spoilers, ([ hide] and [ /hide]), I know some people have the tendency to get mighty peed off when certain things are revealed!

Recently becoming seriously interested in music - I decided to play the King of Rock series, which I'd heard a bit about from various threads in the forums.
Searching the forum, I found the corresponding thread and opened it to find the link to a download. Up by a maon opening the thread I was overwhelmedss of links to various servers - all poised to attack. Swiftly dodging, I was able to avoid the attack, however the emotional scars still remain: None of the links were in working order. Shattered, I proceeded to send a downhearted and discouraged PM to the game's author, whereupon he explained to me that the games were in fact lost. Permanantly. He said to seek asylum among fellow AGSers, to enquire their help in my epic journey.

My plea to you is this: If none AGSers out there have a copy of any of the King of Rock games, will they not be so kind to please help out a fellow member in his moment of need by supplying him with it ...

Yes, may my plea be answered, I pray to the gods.

I made it! Forgive me if I'm wasting forum space here, I'm just ... happy.

Somone on IRC asked me how many were useful, and, well, I'd have to say about negative 600.

Yippee.

Here's a little scene I drew up for my game. It is kinda finished, but I'm seriously unimpressed with the water.

Hi guys!

Well, I made this music:
Just so you know, this is a very rough version as Im sure you can hear!.
It was meant to be a prototype almost, to see if I should really work on it.
We were gonna use it for the menu of our game, not for the in-game play.
If you guys are keen to edit it, please do! I look forward to seeing it up here.
If it sounds good then we'll most probably put it in our game menu and I'd appreciate the help.

I've been working on another version for the in-game though! I personally think it's much better.
I'll link it here - have a listen...

Screw the French!

Thanks for the help in advance!!!

EDIT: No offence to the French - I meant, screw my previous 'French' songs. :)

Yeh, my friend and I are kinda making a game.

My friend made this piece on his electronic piano for the title screen:

French L'intro.mid

I'm no musician, and neither of us are too skilled in editing MIDIs digtially, so as a kind request I was wondering if anybody could edit this and kinda just fix up the clarity of the notes?

Thanks guys

General Discussion / Midi editing prog
Wed 23/02/2005 04:22:05

Blurp, I'm not sure whether to post here or not...

Anyway I'm in need of a midi editing prog, preferably freeware.

I have one that can create midis, but none that can open existing midis and edit those.

Anyone have any idea?

Yaargh, okay before you guys eat me up in your wrath at my hasty, unexplantory removal, let me make some things clear and explain things.

The reason I left is because we lost our internet connection for a while. It came on and off, but too quickly. It's been up for a while now, and I thought I should make a return.

Hopefully you guys can welcome me back like the prodigle son, and forget all this stuff.

Thanks, Zor.
