I. Love. The. Graphics.

I liked the old name better though. You should consider changing it.

Sounds Fantastic. Got my vote.

Yeah, I can totally relate to that paranoia thing ... I'm permantly throwing glances behind my back and up at the ceiling just in case, and If I have to stand somewhere, I'd rather stand with my back against the wall (after checking crevices inbetween bricks and stuff!).

My little army set -- I had hundreds of little soldiers and tanks and jeeps.

Man I have fond memories of those ...

Alright - Here's something else: (how's this for a weird phobia!)

Alright, I'm not entirely sure what this is called (or even if its called!), but I also have the phobia of man-made objects that are underwater. Yes, I know it souunds ridiculous, but I'll be swimming or something, and I'll see maybe a rusted pipe underneath me or something and I'll freak out and swim away as fast as possible.
This phobia isn't as bad as my arachnophobia though -- I can get over this one easier. For instance I used to crap my pants everytime the creepy-crawly came close to me, but I'm kinda over it now.

Yes, I know there are some spider pacifists out there who permanently tell you and anyone who'll listen (and even if they don't listen, they talk anyway) about the peaceful nature of the arachnid, but that's not the point!

It's not like I can help being arachnaphobic ...

Yeah scale is about 17 centimetres high (work it into inches yourselves, you lazy americans! :D)

I'm totally cool with all other insects though (I actually make a habit of looking for them when we go camping) and I'm totally cool with scorpions and crabs etc. It's just these spider things scare the living heck outta me!

I'm starting to worry because I found a much smaller one in my kitchen -- I hope the thing hasn't bred or anything!

Agenda:
1. Fumigate house.
2. Do it again.
3. Third time lucky

Heh.

Well ... There I am, innocent as always, typing away at new code for a project; Blissfully unaware of the horror that lurks just above my head. I finish my code, lift up my arms and lay them behind my head to rest. I am happy. The code works, it runs. I look around and take a breather. There's nothing like stale air to cool you off after a session at the PC. My eyes float upwards, upwards to the infernal being that rests its weary soul on my wall, and I fall out my chair; Yes, fall out my chair.
If you have any sort of phobia or have ever had any sort of phobia then you can understand the extreme terror that wells up inside as you gaze at a beast such as this. Yes, I know there are some spider pacifists out there who permanently tell you and anyone who'll listen (and even if they don't listen, they talk anyway) about the peaceful nature of the arachnid, but that's not the point! The fact is, I have a phobia and to some that may be a sign of weakness, but I can't help it. It's not like I have control over the fact that I'm scared shitless of a humoungous demon that has arrived straight out of the fiery depths of hell. Anyway, back to the story:
So there I am, gazing up my fiendish fiend, for what else a fiend but fiendish? It's a war of wills - my heart pounding my ribcage out, my short, staccatoed breaths readying my lungs for popping - while my adversary, ignorant of my personal vendetta, retains his cool. This is part where I start to freak out, I mean like, I totally lose it. I sprint for the door, slam it open and ram it shut behind me. I think. I breath. I think clearer. I breath again. I think of it's legs; it's horrific pole-legs. I think of it's head; those razor-sharp pincers. I think of it's ability to move; swift like the wind, and I freak out again.
"What if it moves? What if there's more of them? WHAT IF IT MOVES, MAN???" I think, nearly hysterical. Inquisitive, but by no means intending to get too close, I edge open the door. Sweat is dripping from my forehead now, and I see the beast again, perched in it's roost on my wall.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, that's essentially how I stay for the rest of my afternoon: Entranced by my own predator.

Here's a picture I managed to snap of the beast:

(it's bad res because I took it from very far away!)

Well, I went to go pick up my monthly issue of PCFormat -- when I looked at the disc (twas a double sided DVD) -- and right there was AGS!
It wasn't mentioned inside the mag, just on the disc.

Here's a screenshot of what they had to say about it:

I think it's in the British one as well, check it out!

Heh, when I saw the title for this thread I thought someone was asking for help with French, as in French flckr are the only consonants you'll pronounce at the end of a word :D. A bit random I know.

You forgot Philip Marlow/Bogart. :) My favorite ever. Film-noir-detective.

Oh god, how could I forget Philip Marlow? Please forgive me! :D hehe.

- Pirated copy of the game you are playing

I'm sure I remember that one being in a game I once played ... Not sure which one right now.

I've been playing KoL a lot recently -- and I'm sure most of the things here would be cancelled out by the weird inventory items they have there!

Pirates cannot just get a ship, crew and map -- They need grog, man! Well, except for Guybrush, but he's a sissy.

I am completely hooked on the whole PI genre. I think its all just plain friggin' awesome, and making a proper PI game with a good story and excellent mystery with perfect atmosphere would also be awesome.

Remember, there are different types of PIs that you get:
1. Sherlock Holmes type: This is the 1800s setting of which many parodies have been made. Your character will be a subtly arrogant type who smokes pipes and wears chequed coats. Not a very good choice IMO.
2. Barnaby Jones type: This is an OK type of PI; the kind that interests a viewer/player for a few episodes but then starts to annoy them. An ok choice, but there are better.
3. Dirk Gently type: Oooh, this is a very interesting PI. The failure. While having reasonably good mystery solving skills, tends to miss things and fail. Good for a comedy.

There you have it. Feel free to mix characters etc. (I have a whole lot more PIs in mind, just don't feel like writing them down now.)

Private Investigators are awesome, maybe even more-so than pirates -- and that's saying a lot. I had a friend who was making an Investigator game, and I actually started writing a book on one :D

P.I.s in games can be awesome as long as they're done right. You need to get that atmosphere right and instill a sense of mystery properly.

If you go ahead with this, good luck!
#1235

Fantastic! And here I was thinking it was gone, heh.
#1236

Hey hey people .... Don't get me wrong here -- it just seemed a bit sudden and all, so I got quite a fright!

Anyway, if it makes him happy, who are we to judge? Oh wait I was the only one judging ...

Boyd, sometimes you're really funny -- but other times you can be a complete asshole. I know you're probably feeding like a troll off our angry responses, but fuck you.

Back on topic -- I don't think the tracking stuff and viewing of SMSs is allowed though, it's a violation of rights and invasion of privacy. I seriously doubt it will happen. Maybe the cameras in subways -- but is that really such a big deal? There's cameras in shops all the time, no-one complains about that. Cameras aren't that big a deal, if anything they should have been there from the beginning.
