Clicky!

Wrote a little tutorial. Don't know if it makes any sense though - I think I rambled on a bit.

Anyway, enjoy.

Your perspective on both backgrounds is a bit off ...

If it's an alley, there won't be many cars driving through, so I'd move the grass to the sides and dirt to the middle.

Well the pic is ok ... for a beginner ...

1. The perspective everywhere is very off - try looking at a tutorial or something. (Check out the tutorials thread).
2. You're using a tiled texture on everything that doesn't look too good ... try variating a bit.
3. The window lacks depth,
4. Is this resolution really necessary for this kind of style? Think about lowering it as no-one will download your game if the file size is too big (unless it's extremely good, like Apprentice II).
5. The lines are a bit wobbly and the general layout of everything doesn't seem to be complimenting each other ...
6. The room should also be a lot wider!

Sorry for being so harsh, but that's how you get better man.

One thing that annoyed me though: I hated the way Harry walked around popping boners at every girl he saw, I mean sometimes I swear he would've popped a boner so hard that it would've like pinned Ginny against the wall or something.

I don't they'll move on from Star Wars for at least another 7 years or something ... There's just too much cash atm.

And if they do ever move on, I don't think they'll rekindle the adventure game genre ... probably move on to third person action games or something ...

EDIT: And their 'classics' section doesn't even contain half the real classics. Pfffff, fancy calling a Star Wars game a classic!

Somebody kill Helm please.

Supposing I was to give the definition of a 'pink sock' ...

Narnia ... pffff. Douglas Adams' Hitchhikers beats anything ever written. Excluding the bible ;D

Anyway, Potch:
Spoiler
I think Myrtle did mention the 2nd book that she set herself up to be a ghost so that if she dies she can haunt that one dude for the rest of his life because he was teasing her.

Snape Theory:
Spoiler
You have a point, Potch, but it does get a bit annoying all the time when Harry perhaps points out a place where Dumbledore might've made a mistake and he's all like, "Hey, I already know that, man, I like did it on purpose!"

Spoiler
Potch, you need to set yourself up to become a ghost before you die, I think ... ?

As for the Snape killed Dumbledore under his own orders theory, that's bollocks IMO. Dumbledore was intelligent enough to know the Malfoy could never have had it in him to kill him. Dumbledore's extreme, but he's not that extreme! Snape could also have just disarmed Malfoy there.

In my opinion, a thread about bukkake would probably get more attention than one about exam results   :-\

Chicky, go back to sleep -_- ... hehe.

I have, however, during my course of reading this novel, noticed what I think may be a few concorde errors ...

Wow, I got this book  yesterday after searching for ages because everywhere was sold out!

Despite being smaller than the previous two books, it is in fact a spectacular read so far, I'm really enjoying the style in which the whole thing is written.
Just one thing that annoys me though is the way that Rowling seems to think she has to add a different creature into the story every book. First giant spiders, then dementors and now zombies? Sounds a bit silly if you ask me.

Anyway, post your comments on the book and be sure to hide spoilers, ([ hide] and [ /hide]), I know some people have the tendency to get mighty peed off when certain things are revealed!

Well, you could sort of use AGS for that ... I suppose. I mean, your whole game could be dialogue (with alternating backgrounds and lots of animation) sort of like Ballonface from the 1 week 1 room competition ...

Babar, it's understandable to feel like you do. But your bottom line, "Point is: not everyone reads the rules", is not the attitude we want to encourage anywhere.

Whether it's the attitude you want to encourage or not, it's the truth. The plain and simple truth, Rui, Ishmael and anyone else out there.
You would like to encourage that atmosphere, but how is anyone who just signs up and starts posting going to know that if we don't make sure that they know? If you want to encourage lurking, then perhaps a timer should be set on new accounts making the holder only able to post after say, a 7 day period. This may also discourage alter-egos.

Understand where I'm coming from; I would absolutely love to trust and believe that every newbie who signs up knows our customs and knows exactly how to post, but the fact is they don't. We need to tell them how to do things and make sure that they know how to do things.

And besides, IMO, if you're unable to read a sticky thread that clearly says "RULES" in the title, you shouldn't be posting anything.

I hold that opinion too, Ishmael, but the problem is this: People who DON'T read the rules still have the ABILITY to post! Even though they have not read it, they can still post! You see?

Wow, AGS seems to get a lot of publicity these days! Wonder when any of our local mags will mention it ...

I enjoy the style. It's new. I think you should just add more detail to your pics - and that that second one? Looks like the bed is floating in mid-air! You should also straighten up your lines a bit on the third one, they're a bit blurry right now.

It may be true that these forums are better than many others out there, but that shouldn't stop us from trying to improve the atmosphere more.

Sure, there is room for improvement in these forums, but we also wouldn't like to turn into Fort Nox, or detention or something.

Any sort of restrictions (other than strongly enforcing the rules)

Enforcing the rules is exactly what I was suggesting. I know this topic has been discussed many times before, but nothing has ever done! All we have is this:

HAVE YOU READ THE FORUM RULES BEFORE POSTING?
Seriously, have you?
If your new thread violates the rules, it will be LOCKED or DELETED without warning.

And that, intimidating as it may seem, doesn't clarify what the rules are! Perhaps some people don't know where to find the rules (sight impediments, stupidity etc.), so the don't read them and think to themselves, "Bugger that." Maybe the text should be changed to something like:

HAVE YOU INCLUDED AT LEAST TWO IN-GAME SCREENSHOTS?
And is there at least some storyline description?
Read these rules FIRST!

Just a suggestion.

Yes,  very interesting, Potch.

Considering that the majority of your posts are of mature content, Potch, I'd say you are fully entitled to post in this forum (more than some of us at least). I would also feel ashamed of any AGS member who discriminated against someone else because he/she has not completed any games. I mean, I can think of a few of the 'main AGSers' here who haven't finished any games, yet most of them are what keep this forum from slipping into the brink of nothingness!

I also fully agree with you on the subject of one-liners in the CGA forum. I, as a creator, would love to know every last person who enjoyed/disliked my game (after you've put all that effort into creating a game, you need at least some praise). But then again, from CJs point of view, perhaps if everyone posted one-liners in the CGA, then bandwidth would skyrocket once again and some forums would have to close.

Another serious concern of mine is the Production forum: There are far too many locked threads! I don't mean in this way the Darth Mandarb should lay more slack on people bending the rules, I mean there has to be SOME way of getting it to peoples heads whether they should be posting or not! It's absolutely ridiculous when you come to think about it!

Anyway, that's just my 573 cents worth of info.
