I don't really agree with this at all.  It's like saying you have to view all of Picasso's paintings before you have a right to decide if you like any one of them or not.  A song is a song, period, and people are free to judge whether they like it or not on its own merits.

Not with progressive rock. A song on a progressive rock album is like a chapter in a book - You don't just read the chapters individually, but rather the book as a whole.

As for the album, I like it so far. Haven't listened to it too much yet though.

December is coming up, and we all know what means...

Yes, kids, it's time for MaBeGroMo! (Macho Beard Growing Month).

I intend to grow a massive beard.

Unless they're dressing up as anime characters.

Anime aside, cosplay reeaaally is lame.

Well, the theme is kind of played throughout the piece in different voices. It's first introduced at 0:18 by the second trumpet, while the first trumpet plays a different melody. Then it's repeated in fifths by both trumpets. After that (0:34) the bass carries the theme in the background while the other instruments skylark around it.
Then at 1:08 the theme jumps around between different instruments. At 1:32 I play different notes in different octaves (barely audible, hardly came out in the mix), and then after that the bass plays the melody to a quiet finish!

Hope that helps.

Edit: Are we allowed to enter twice? I'm working on a new piece now, and it uses the same idea.

The perspective (while not technically correct) actually looks alright to me. I just got the feeling that everything was at a slight angle.

Maybe it's just a tiny watch.

I enjoyed your last album, busy downloading now. I'll edit once I've given the album a listen.

Two words: Sailor Moon

Dude that's like upskirt... In fact I don't even think that is a skirt, it's more like a rag attached to a leotard haha.

18's a good age to be. In my country I'm legally an adult and can do anything and everything by myself.

I finish school forever in a few weeks, so I feel your excitement :D Can't wait for finals to be over, I'm going to party like a rockstar.

That reminds me, I should get back to studying now ... :/

The only reason I would want backwards compatability is because I wouldnt own a ps2 or any other previous model if I were to buy a ps3. I've never owned a console other than a nes, a sega genesis and a gameboy color. There's just simply no point if you have a pc ;)

All these 'extra features' are just gimmicks. My cellphone can do all of that better, and more.

Al Lowe = god. (along with Tim Schafer).

Thanks for that interview it was interesting.

Anyone know where I can upload my entry?

Edit: Nevermind, I checked out some of the older tune contests for sites.

Here's my entry. I tried to do it in the style of Lucasart's music in games like fate of atlantis, monkey island etc.

It's the theme song for an evil villian!

I'm not really for everyone boycotting palm oil or any other form of mass boycott, but howcome no-one uses olive oil or sunflower oil?
That's all we use. I'd never even heard of palm oil before this thread.

I love the background style you got going there, it's awesome.

Only thing I can think of is that the lighting is drawing all the attention to the bathroom door, which as you said earlier has no function in the game. Could be a bit of a red herring ;)

Critics' Lounge / Mexican Polka =)
Wed 29/10/2008 22:09:15
Hey. Been long since I last posted here.

I made this piece yesterday, kind of a mexican polka thing. It's in midi 'cos I don't really have anything better to do it in.
It's my first time trying to do music for brass instruments, so all constructive critiscm is good!

Listen.

(also, I have no formal music training, so please, any constructive critiscm/pointers/tips or any advice is greatly welcomed. Be as harsh as possible! I can take it. ;) )

Thanks!

Right now it's great as a backing track, the guitar and piano pieces work really well together. (and I like the ocean sound at the beginning, adds to the whole atmosphere).
The only thing it's lacking is a strong melody -- With a good melody this could be a really nice piece.

Good work though.
