Well I have got an old laptop lying around (32 meg ram haha), and I found its sound card plays midis with a really old school feel -- almost like those of Lucasarts, but not exactly the same. Really similiar in fact. So what I was thinking of doing is sequencing the tracks in midi, loading them onto the laptop, then connecting a cable from the line out into the microphone port on my other pc, and recording them.
Quite a tedious method, but I was just wondering if there wasn't perhaps a software solution out there.

General Discussion / Lucasart's Adlib music
Sat 30/08/2008 19:27:12
Well I've been doing a lot of research lately, and I just can't found out anything on how to make music the way Lucasarts did for their games like Loom, Foa and Monkey Island etc.
I don't want to get the hardware, but I was wondering if there's any software out there capable of producing those kind of sounds from a midi file perhaps. Maybe a plugin for Fruity Loops?

Does anyone have any ideas that can help me?

I'm a bokke fan. (That's South Africa's rugby team, the Springboks). Best rugby team in the world! We won the last world cup and the 1995 world cup. Oh yeah!

On the trains here there's a sign on the door that says "Please close door if door does not close automatically." However if it didnt close you wouldn't see it.

Also in the bathrooms they have a sign telling us not to crap on the floor or rim of the toilet. Which it must have happened enough times for them to have had to make a sign about it.

I am too a proud user of 2.62 :D

I just don't have time to go learning an entire new scripting language.

Magix Movie Edit, although not free, is very good and extremely easy to use. Also it's very versatile so you can do a lot of stuff with it.

So far it sounds like it's going to be pretty bad.

I'll probably end up seeing it, but I'll pirate it first and if it's good then I'll either rent it or see it in a cinema again.

I actually like it the way it is, with the painting giving the impression of a hardcore kind of guy. Like a protagonist similar to Indiana Jones and those types, who adventure around, (this one looks like he adventures around casinos etc, some sort of card shark/conjurer/con-man) usually ensnaring the woman love interest with his charm, but never getting too attached.

I wouldn't suggest changing his position/facial expression. I like it the way it is.

The only thing that bothers me a bit though is the fact that perhaps his arm is a bit too blurry. Nothing major, just pointing it out.

Nice usage of the word "besides", Zor  :P

Haha... I don't quite understand the joke :p Did I use it incorrectly?

Besides, wouldn't this mean the end of Google? Whats the use of a search engine if there's nothing to search?
I doubt Google with their billions of dollars will let that happen.

Awesome game, haven't finished it yet though. Still looking for the last coin :/

Just wondering, was the gui based on the scumm point 'n click gui I (Zor) developed a few years back?
If so, cool! Nice to see someone making use of it :)
If not, ignore this :P

Having finally come to terms with my hairloss, I've taken the inevitable step of shaving my head.

You seem to no problem with facial balding haha.

- Write/plan out your whole game before starting to create it.

- Draw all the sprites for a character before attempting to import them. Also, make all the sprites the same size, this will help with positioning and setting co-ordinates.

That's pretty cool Babar. But why would you want to sleep, it looks like it's 3:00pm outside?
