Critics' Lounge / Re: Sci-fi themed verb coin

I like it. If I were to suggest any changes it would probably be to perhaps make your eye icon a little more symmetrical, just a plain almond instead of slanted. Maybe some animation of the little red light on the bottom of each monitor icon when you hover on them. But yeah, looks good as is regardless I think.

Sweet entry jon_swe. I felt it had a kind of 'Light at the end of the tunnel' feel at some points, which worked well, and very scary to boot. Really quest-like too. Like yeah, I wanna pop a witches eyeball out now! Woo!

Okay so I'm joining in the fun too, with a non-entry entry. It's made from 90% kids cartoon theme song samples, with a dread skew. Or you could just call it noise pollution.

Idea - Snath3000 - Man that's wierd, I love it!
Atmosphere - nihilyst - Reminds me of like, Kyrandia and The Prisoner at the same time, awesome.
Design - Oraxon - Hella cool.
Composition - Oraxon - Yeah, this just works for me I guess.
Functionality - Vukul - I can see the puzzles already, very good. Nice composition too - tough choice between you and Oraxon for this one.
Technique - nihilyst - Solid as always.

Damn good stuff Mouth for war. Love the wobbly tape, the echoey slidey pings, very unsettling. Hell it's midmorning here and your track is kinda freaking me out, great work!

Shocking!
Gory!
Scary!

This fortnights Tune Contest topic will be;

Any genre/tempo/instruments will be accepted. The more ominous/startling/disturbing the better. Foreboding soundscapes, relentlessly pounding gory beats, B-Grade Horror movie soundtrack style - all these and more are acceptable. As long as it's scary! Or Unnerving. Or just generally creepy. You get the idea.

Comp ends on the 17th April,

Good luck!

Thanks guys:D

Hmm, what topic to pick...

Samurai 7 is absolutely magnificent (Anime series version of Kurosawa'a masterpiece- Seven Samurai)

I also think Desert Punk and Cowboy Bebop are noteworthy.

Oh, and Cromartie High is pretty goddamn hilarious;

Mechazawa worries about you more than anybody else!

Man I love that robot.

Could use some more work, the second scratch solo is a bit redundant, but the final crescendo turned out well I think.

BLOSSOM

Meteors impact silently across the hulls of a thousand vessels. Nightcycle watch is on duty across the fleet, and the worst seems to be behind them. A few minor breaches are reported, but nothing critical, then; Warning sirens!
Brilliant plumes spew across the void- the casualties begin to mount almost immediately- An ambush.

Thanks for the tip Tomatoes, and great entries guys!

Damnit I made like 3 entries now and I'm not happy with any of them! Arg!

Edit) Although, I did only just now get my hands on a proper midi keyboard- so I may still be able to whip something up I'm not ashamed to post in time.

Me too, they're both fantastic!

Sounds like an interesting topic- please excuse this ultra noobish question but with so many choices I can't seem to find a simple, reliable and free way to upload music for quick listening. Emphasis on simple. Anyone got any suggestions?

Congrats WHAM, a well deserved win to be sure:)

Lovely entries all round, so hard to vote once again. Took me three hours to reach a decision this time!

Idea - Oraxon - Great location, the story to that pic writes itself.
Atmosphere - Mordalles - Just rad. I like the first, low res one a thousand times more though:)
Design - Mordalles - Reminds me of a Flash Gordon set with a Dark Seed twist or something. Very cool.
Composition - Mad - Really interesting composition here.
Technique - Cuiki - While I usually give this one to Loominous, I see a lot of potential in your entry.

Where is the music in Beacon from? The credits disappeared before I could find the responsible.

btw Congrats! Great little game.

Oh, I did the music too:) All but the intro theme were composed specifically for this MAGS.
The only other person directly working on Beacon was WHAM- who did a very good job voicing Valentin btw- thanks WHAM!

AGS Games in Production / Re: Pencil Worlds

I like it a lot- I definitely think it could work. The background is very nice, although I think doing a pencil sketched cEGo might be the way to go.

Seen ARGH! Real Monsters? Old Cartoon Network show- half decent characters etc, might be worth a look.

Sorry for doubleposting, but I just wanted to know: Is there still someone else than me participating?

Yep, I'm working on a little something for this too. Couldn't help it, too cool a MAGS theme to pass up.
