@Adder Aha, I should have guessed! Wonderful stuff. Glad to meet a fellow artist who starts out on paper first, just like the good old days. Props for doing it ALL on paper though, major props man.

@M0ds Hehe, nah I've just been busy with mad science. :)

My studio is all geared up towards building/modding my synths atm so all my fav machines are laid up on the slab.

My entry is therefor a result of my studio - here's a drum track from my old Yamaha PSR4600 being circuit bent live (I have it's guts open and am crossing IC connections to make it glitch etc). No external effects added.

WARNING - DO NOT LISTEN TO WITH HEADPHONES ON AT HIGH VOLUME!!!

@Adeel I would wholeheartedly recommend Propellerhead's Reason software. Very good for beginners and great free trials, but also good for more advanced musicians too.

Kastchey, Oraxon, Gameboy

They were all awesome though. Tough choice.

With the Primordia short story Fallen complete I decided to cap off my work on Primordia once and for all with a retrospective video showcasing my art and music for the project. A lot of this stuff was unreleased art, (there's a few paintings even I had forgotten about!) or higher resolution versions of the stuff that has been made public.

Damn that's pretty - you paint it all up in PS or are there some traditional mediums involved?

This looks dope. Looking forward to playing.

I finally posted the second audio installment of Fallen on YouTube; Arise. Check it out and please 'like' the video if you are so inclined. Thanks!

Here's a short proof of concept I worked on last year for a Horror dungeon crawl. I really wanted to see if I could make an Elvira/Eye of the Beholder type engine within AGS. I was happy with the test results but felt that the graphic assets would be a drag to make en masse for full production.

Features

*Two rooms in 3D!!!
*Music and sound effects
*Combat/XP Levelling system
*Infinitely respawning demon that looks like an onion
*Healing potions
*Compass
*Working "quit" button
*Room object

Controls are pretty simple. Click the arrows buttons to move. Left click enemy to attack. Right click potions to use.

Fallen Part 1: Awake is now on Youtube in Audio-Visual format. This was an experimental project of mine created in tandem to Mark Yohalem, Tamás Szathmáry's and my illustrated text version.

For this version, Fallen is read aloud by Tord Johnson, accompanied by an ambient score and animated landscape.

Goddammit! If only I had enough time I could do LaSol 2! :D
Maybe I'll still try... Maybe...

If you're doing LaSol 2, I'm going to make Beacon 2. I'll probly get runner-up again too. ;P

I think maybe just try to shade the hair with the same light source (bottom right-ish) as the rest of the image might help, accentuate the curves etc.

If you haven't already, check out pixeljoint.com - great forum for sprite artists interested in C64 paletts and all that stuff. Some incredibly talented pixel artists there give critique regularly.

My girlfriend tells me I have a synthesizer problem...
I agree, you should definitely get more synthesizers. Quickly!

I agree; in fact I've purcheased an old Yamaha V50 and an Akai AX-80 since this photo was taken. Vintage synth = vintage game soundtrack. :D

Heya,

I'm making a small game for my girlfriend for Christmas, and I really need someone to play the female protagonist. The game is going to be a playable prologue of sorts, for an ongoing story broken up into several chapters. However, there is a catch; the game probably won't be released to the public until all the chapters are complete, if at all.

It won't be many lines though (maybe a few pages at most), and the job is paid. Whoever is involved with the project will of course receive the final build of the game to play themselves.

(EDIT) Position filled, thanks to all who applied!

I don't want to release too many details, but here are the basics;

* Set in post apocalyptic Canada

* Features a robotic female protagonist

* Icy graphics and cool retro soundtrack

* Features a unicorn, a cat and possibly a bunny

Due to technical issues I can't post any of the soundtrack here yet, but here are some graphics;

Although I love everything about this game probably more than any AGS game so far, I still would love to see a high res version.

The poster will be high res! Well, with the graphics in Primordia I really tried to push the medium as far as I could, making the most out of every single one of those pixels.
Plus if it were in high res there would be at least a third fewer rooms/game areas. High res just takes longer to get the same quality:S
Not to mention the fact that me animating at that res with my fully rendered char sprites, is just not going to happen, ever. Probably:)

@ Sughly, Tabata, Ilych, Peder - Thanks dudes, it's inspiring to know ya'll are interested still - I shouldn't have stayed in my hermit hole for so long:)

@ Ghost - Yes, gimme some moneeey! Well, maybe later, I shut down pre-orders for now!

Takes Ghost's money and runs away as fast as possible

Sshh, we don't do that now that we're with Wadjet Eye Games man! We have to be official now, and take his money in an official manner, at an official time. Probably wednesday.

Your world has died...

Start again? Y/N

Awesome entries guys:)
Not much time to spare so I thought I'd throw something simple down. The dithering took me a while though... ;)

32 colors, 320x200 res.
I made a song to go with it but that'd be cheating to include:D Plus it'd probly make your ears bleed.

AGS Games in Production / Re: Primordia

My god, it's been so long since my last update! Here's a painting of Crispin getting peeved. Welp, see you guys in a year or so!

Seriously though, yeah, as Dave mentioned we're now under the Wadjet Eye Games umbrella. I know some people might feel a bit cheated that it won't be freeware - but the freeware Primordia was a very different game - one I thought I'd just churn out in about 4 months... My gods has it been almost 2 years?! Whew. Freaking out a bit here, my apologies.
But yeah, Primordia really developed into a much vaster project than I ever imagined. A lot of my older graphics have been replaced or updated*, and feature creep, while held mostly at bay with a whip and flaming torch, has left it's wonderful, frustrating footprint everywhere. The game has triple the number of rooms I had originally planned for, and there isn't much if any, filler. Oh, as a side note I wanted an endless desert so we could boast infinite rooms, but Mark wouldn't let me do it:P I jest though, he's really been the voice of reason in our team. I'm usually on another planet, and Dualnames, as we all know, is bat-squeek insane:D
Also, as Dave said; Composer Nathan Chambers has taken over Mark 'm0ds' Lovegrove role as our chief musician/sound engineer guy. It wasn't an easy decision to make, as I think very highly of m0ds work, but Nathan is doing an excellent job and really helps cultivate the dark soundscape we were going for.

Welp, I've got some glowing vacuum tube cathodes to animate, I'll check in again soon:)

* Here's probably the best example of some stuff that didn't make the cut - the old Horatio sprite. Here's versions 1-3. Version zero was just a box on wheels, but that file is lost to the mists of time now... My Primordia archive has over 8200 files - some stuff just gets lost, never to be seen again. The latest (and current) version can be blamed on - I mean, you can thank Dave Gilbert for that one :)
