Inhumanoids seems like something I may have heard of, but no real memories of. Spiral Zone, on the other hand, just jarred loose a memory in my mind that I didn't even know I had! Combat unicycles! God, I miss the 80s. Cocaine was in the water supply back then! And what about Turbo Teen? Talk about body horror!  :cheesy:

Life Force made me the man I am today.  :=

The best part of EverQuest was finding new clothes gear for your dolls characters.  :=

How about Ben Jordan 8? A very satisfying closing act on a long-running AGS franchise. Good graphics, nice backgrounds, engaging puzzles, and solid writing. Overall a very enjoyable game, if a bit short compared to some of the other games in the series. Before Grundislav became the fabulously wealthy game-making powerhouse he is today (if the truth about the rewards of indie gaming is otherwise, i don't want to know it!), take a look at his roots.

FYI, I wanted to nominate Seed by Limpingfish (from OROW, many years ago), but it doesn't seem to have a games page. Then I wanted to nominate RoN: Purity of the Surf, but who knows if it would even run on modern systems.

Thanks, dude! High praise, indeed!  :cheesy:

Don't think of it as "frustratingly poor puzzle design." Think of it as "extended play time opportunities."  :=

I don't normally do pixel hunts, but I wanted to capture that retro feel.  :=

Thanks for playing, Kitty Trouble.

Thanks, Tabby!   :cheesy:

TALES FROM A FORGOTTEN TAVERN

Dark Ages of EverCraft was the most popular MMORPG of its day. But that day was more than twenty years ago. It has long been eclipsed by other, newer, more popular games. Now the once teeming masses of its online population of players has dwindled down to almost nothing. No NPC in the game has seen a true "newbie" for years uncounted. But this evening, on the last remaining server still providing access to the old game, a level one character has stumbled out of the Newbie Garden, battered and exhausted, seeking a place to rest in a forgotten tavern on an untraveled road.

What awaits her inside?

DOWNLOAD AND FIND OUT!

This game was made for MAGS, July 2023. Theme: last One. Chosen by: 4KbShort.

I'll be honest, this MAGS theme really inspired me. I can't remember the last time I was so excited to work on a MAGS game. For about three years (1999 - 2002), I spent way too much time in Everquest. It's the only MMORPG I've ever played, but I enjoyed the hell out of it back in the day. This game is my gushing tribute to my gaming experiences during a time when I was much younger and a lot more carefree. It's packed with references to the world of the late 90s / early 2000s. It's probably safe to say that many of the jokes in this game will fly right over the head of a lot of the younger AGSers.

Fun Fact: When I finally quit Everquest (just as the Planes of Power expansion pack was coming out), I decided I'd make better use of my free time making my own games instead. Within a year, I had discovered AGS (version 2.56d) and made my first Barn Runner game.

That was a good one too! That bit where the guy gets eaten in the doctor's office? Amazing special effects work in a pre-CGI time.

I know that overexposure has largely robbed this beast of the "alien-ness" that made it so scary way back when, but I still love this thing.

My older sister took me to see the original movie when I was seven years old (   ) and it scared the absolute hell out of me. I LOVED it! I had the toy and the Heavy Metal graphic novel when I was a kid.

Close second: The Thing. Dad and I saw that in the theater when I was ten ( ) and it instilled in me the unshakable belief that you can never trust anyone for any reason. I sleep in a locked room and eat all my meals from cans to this very day!  :cheesy:

Just sent my game out to a play tester. Looks like I'll actually have a game to enter this month!

Quote from: Gilbert on Wed 19/07/2023 06:15:22The AGS thing is a big hoax.
It's wonderful that Ponch never realised this.
I've been using AGS since 2003. It's incredible that one person committed to the bit of impersonating an entire online community for 20 years to prank me!  :cheesy:  Even back in the EZ Board days, when I was just a lurker, I never even suspected a thing!

Although, looking back on it, I should have known something was up when Yahtzee "left" the forums in such a suspicious way! A real person would never behave like that.  :=

On a serious note, still no word from Slasher?  :undecided:  As an old fart myself, I worry that I'll vanish one day just as suddenly. I hope he's okay and just trying to find a way to create a fourth account without Snarky catching him.

How many accounts has he posted under? Could he also be Icey?!

Congrats to the winner(s)!

Quote from: Snarky on Fri 14/07/2023 14:43:22I'm still looking for the keys to my lockbox, though. The problem is that I hid them somewhere clever, and I have no idea where that might be.
You've outsmarted yourself, you devious fiend! Well played! Truly you are your most worthy opponent!  :=

Now that I'm 50, I have moments in my life like these more often than I'd like to admit.  :embarrassed:

I won't say that I'm working on yet another MAGS project that I'll never finish... but...  :=
