Was there a podcast? Did you interview the mayor? Did Ben's mom bake cookies? There are still questions to be answered! Damn your jet lag!

Road to Perdition?

And how dare someone guess Blade Runner! I swear, I go away from the computer for a few days and look at what happens.

Congrats on the milestone post, Baron. Here's to a 1000 more. And thanks for kicking off this nostalgia thread. It's bringing back memories of the early deys when I was but a lurker and not yet the prolifically posting cow that I've become.

veryweirdguy: Best laugh I've had all day. I hope you'll consider farming out the DLC for "Crystal Warriors: TimeBlood Chronicles Saga: The Final Showdown II: Legends" to my own TWI Studios. I've never played or even heard of your game until today and that makes me the perfect choice. Everyone knows the best DLC is always made by a third party that has limited to no contact with the original developers. Rest assured, I'm already considering ways to disregard your canon story elements and/or rip off the best bits of your game and rehash them in the least creative ways imaginable. I can't wait to insert my own Mary Sue characters! :cheesy:

Dear Moving Thread,

My plot to allow Ryan Timothy to rekindle his love for the Gameboy has failed. I had hoped that by cutting the power to his neighborhood and leaving him with nothing to do while sitting in the darkness would finally give him the opportunity to rediscover what drew him into the world of gaming in the first place. Alas, it was not to be. All he did was eat the leftover pizza in his fridge and peruse his emergency collection of old issues of Hustler and Swank and touch himself in ways that makes the Pope sad. Despite my best intentions, it seems all his neighbors froze to death during Canadian Spring for nothing.

Oh well. Now it's off to Scotland to convince Frodo to dig her old Atari our of the attic and give Night Driver another try. Wish me luck, Moving Thread. I (and Frodo's neighbors) will surely need it. (She has a HUGE porn collection in her closet).

Your pal,

Ponch

Tabata: Credit for my incredibly snazzy portrait goes to ProgZmax. He really captured my suaveness and sophistication.

Dboy: Baron actually drew that sexy cow. I shudder to think what other perversions are lurking on his hard drive.

Ghost: If you give up on beef, that still leaves room for wiener schnitzel, right? :=

Oh gosh...
I know, right? Der Wienerschnitzel? It's shameless! That's what it is! Such poor grammar has no place in these forums. I vow that I shall never eat there again. From now on, I shall only eat at Die Waffle Haus.

And speaking of sexy pictures in this thread...

Helllloooo, ladies.

Not entirely happy with this piece, but I only have an hour for lunch.  :undecided:

Dr. Noriko, Cat Girl phd

For something that was drawn at a booth at Der Wienerschnitzel while I ate my chicken dippers, I don't think it turned out half bad for a first draft sketch. I wish I'd had a circle template for her glasses and I'd like to have a little more time to fix her hand, but my lunch break is almost over. Enjoy!

Sexy ladies? Of course. The Barn Runner games are all about the cheesecake. And beefcake too. Equal opportunity fanservice, you know. (Hello, ladies :=). But no cat ladies, if that's what you're asking. This cow is allergic to fur. Besides, spring time is here and they'd just shed all over the couch, you know?

The funny thing is... I have a 7 year old XP Fujitzu Siemens laptop and it does everything I want with no problems. ???
I have Windows 7 on my work computer. But this old one back in the bedroom is my ancient, reliable XP machine. It still runs like a top and will probably survive the nuclear war that's about to kick off in Asia any moment now. I plan to use this dusty old box to play my retro games until I finally win an AGS Award and collapse from shock, dead and slumped over my treasured old model M keyboard. (nod)

Never be ashamed of your XP machine, brother Jay! (Also fight power, cooties, and so on)

Wish I could, buddy. But I don't know nothin' 'bout no Vista (thank goodness). Like Stanley Kubrick said a few posts up, it's probably a forum related issue. Give it a day or two and I'm sure AGA (or whoever is acting as his hand for the next few days) will fix the problem.

Stay strong, fight power, no cooties, etc. etc.
#1917
Furries! Oh noes! They've finally found our forums! AGA, quick! Pull the "delete all threads" handle. It's the only way to be sure!  :=

Nice art, sir.

the time for corolla karaoke has come to an end.
But a Corolla duet (trio?) of "Never Gonna Give You Up" would make my life complete, Ben! Don't tell me I built that treehouse for nothing, buddy!  :~(

I can only assume they mods are doing this in an attempt to get rid of you, RetroJay. Don't fall for it! Don't let these OS elitists drive you away because of your poor choice of operating system coupled with your undying love of Internet Explorer! Stay strong, my brother! Don't let them win! Fight the power! (nod)

(But don't stand too close to me in the cafeteria. I don't want your Vista cooties rubbing off on me.  :P )

General Discussion / Re: Coding ... together!

There is no downside to Barry White, Ghost. Nevars. Besides, I won't be playing "The Big B" for you (wrong), only for the AGS Ladies (Hello, ladies. 8-) )

As far as frustrated programming goes, I still experience it from time to time. I'd like to think that after ten years of using AGS, I'd be past that sort of thing. But sadly, no. There are some parts of the engine I never mess with and when I suddenly find myself forced to, I usually turn to Tzachs, Monkey, or Baron to help me out (behind the scenes, in PM Land, dig?). Then I study what they did to solve my problem so I'll know how to address it in the future. Heck, the Barn Runner inventory GUI code is just a heavily modified version of the code that appeared in the old AGS eZine (remember that? I think SSH wrote it for version 2.56 or something). It's almost embarrassing to admit that! :-[

Something like this "private coding lesson" might be a good idea. It would give those of us who have become complacent with our game design an excuse to stretch our legs, so to speak. One of the main reasons I made OSD: Archipelago Adventures* was just to give myself a reason to experiment with new kinds of GUIs (buy/sell, manna bars, spellbooks, and so forth), random encounters, and other things I had never done before.

Those are my two cents, anyway. I now return you to your Barry White experience. (Hello again, AGS Ladies (nod) )

* Criminally under-appreciated, if you ask me. I put oodles of work into that game and it just sits there in the database, overlooked and unloved.  :( ;)
