I wanted to put little umlauts over all the vowels (ALL of them -- even the ones that didn't need it - and some of the consonants too), but there wasn't time to whip up a SCI font that had umlauts. On the plus side, all the little umlauts went into the Diet Umlaut Soda, which made it incredibly refreshing.

I had the exact same question about Shindig!  :cheesy:

Regarding my game, I used The Naked and The Ninja as a template to save time. I guess I missed a few lines of code.   :embarrassed:  Also, I wanted the Baron's closing lines to be ambiguously sinister. Ghost did most of the German translations for me, and he assured me the closing lines where whimsical and chilling.  :cheesy:

And thanks to Baron for letting me steal his avatar and place it in the OSDverse back in Archipelago Adventures. Now Ze Baron is officially part of Dennis' world.

EDIT: AAAAAAH! the old trick of "the other room you didn't even know you could walk to "  :~(

It's actually the same room. Apparently that street uses "Pac Man" logic. Exit one side of the screen and you enter from the other side. And I'm glad you liked the intro.

WHAM: If you like it so much, why not make an OSD game of your own.  :=

Dear moving thread,

Ghost won, which came as a great surprise to both Ben and myself. We didn't even know he was racing. It was quite a shock. You can read about it here:

I need to go lie down for a while and let my hoofs cool off.

p.s. Please tell Ghost not to play Mass Effect 3 all the way to the end. I don't want him to be sad and angry (both at the same time -- it was a terrible ending  ;) )

Happy Birthday, Oceanspirit Dennis!
Two Years Old Today!

That's right, on Monday, May 14th, 2010, Snake put together a string of words that became a global (or possibly regional) phenomenon! And to celebrate this momentous event in AGS history, Square-Peniks is bringing you three (at least) slices of birthday cake to snack on, all in one handy bundle.

First up, Ghost serves up a peek into Dennis' childhood:
THE SHINDIG OF DENNIS

Then Ponch kills some time with Ray in The City:
A TASTE OF MAN CAKE

And finally Ben304 takes us to strange new places:
LOL, OCEANSPIRIT DENNIS

Will there be more birthday celebration games to come? Maybe. Icey has promised us some DLC. And since this is Dennis we're talking about, he'll hang around long after we all want him to leave. So this party may go on for days or weeks.

So if you have an OSD game you want to make (or one that you need to finish), here's your moment of glory! Post it in this thread and I'll include it in the first post.

Thanks for two long, strange years, AGS Community!  :=

(Also, it should be noted that all of these games were made in two days. So they're a little shoddy, but they're made with LOVE )

Not to encourage anyone to make DLC, but wouldn't it be possible to use Patch Maker or something similar to add content to your game at a later date? I did that with one of my Barn Runner games when I made a "Special Edition" version following my crushing defeat at the 2010 AGS Awards. No one reported any problems with using it.

what Icey needs isn't more ideas. If anything, he needs less ideas.

Icey may be the only person I know of who I can actually say this about.

One game / comic / movie / pan of brownies / MMO at a time, Icey. There's no need to try to get it all done at once. You're only 17, for goodness sake. You have another three or four years left on this earth, at least. There's no rush.

To him, Dave or Oceanspirit Dennis are just as valid a hero as Squall or Cloud

One of those things is clearly not like the others.  Oceanspirit Dennis has become an hero. Of this, there can be no dispute.

Personally, I think Icey should go small for his next game. Very small. Microscopic monsters who live on the surface of improperly stored pub food meet inside of people and it all ends in a battle over which orifice to escape from. It's sort of like a dungeon crawl, only very tiny and gross.

"Kingdom Farts"

Please make this happen, Icey.  (nod)

Ponch, I saw your new avatar / signature in another thread and had to come here to make a request: can you have an alternate version where the Fiero pulls a banner behind it that reads, "Haters gonna hate"?

Can I half-ass something like that with a minimal amount of effort? You bet I can!  :-D

Dear Moving Thread,

I think the others may somehow be on to us. I'm not pointing fingers, but one of us may not be able to keep our mouth shut.

I'll be watching you, Moving Thread.  (wtf)

Yours,
Anonymoo

p.s. See you on Monday, for you know what with you know who.  :-*
#2774
My dear Moving Thread,

My devious plan is coming together. Already Ben is hard at work on another one of those games. As am I. And SaneCo. is sure to serve as the perfect bait for this trap! He will never see it coming! My udders tingle with anticipation!! Monday can't come soon enough! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!  (laugh)

Dear Moving Thread,

Success! Ben304 has fallen for my trap. Tomorrow we will race and he will be udderly caught off guard by my svelte and speedy shape. The Atkins diet paid off in spades. Sure, eating such a beef intensive diet was a little weird, but I'm fairly certain it was no one I knew (except for Jerry, and he was a jerk anyway), and the results speak for themselves.

Anymoo, I'm off to the track and to victory. By tomorrow night, Ben's sweet Pimpin' Van shall be mine and I'll be able to retire my 86' Pontiac Fiero and start vannin' it up with all the fine ladies.

Thanks for helping me out, Moving Thread.

Dear Moving Thread,

Ever since the forums got the rebootening, my avatar has unexpectedly put on a bit of weight... okay, a lot of weight. My pixels are HUGE now. Truthfully, I feel a bit self-conscious about it. What if the other AGSers are talking about it behind me back? Should I be worried or am I being silly?

Thanks for keeping this just between us, Moving Thread. You're the best.

Sincerely,

A Concerned Cow

Sigh. Poor Ben.  (wrong)  I remember when it was all about the games for him. Then he discovered girls and got hooked on the root beer.  It will all end in tears, I just know it. :~(
#2778
Thanks, WHAM. Updated the first post.

Sadly, I think the forums relaunch stole all the attention from this contest. It had a fun theme, but I never noticed it until it was too late.

I vote for Sane Co. because his story was both funny and submitted before the deadline.  ;)

Yeah, especially now that we can't hover over someone's nickname to see their original login name anymore.

This coming from Stupot+ ... a man formerly known as Stupot. I can't tell who you're supposed to be anymore, Stu!

Talk about hypocrisy!  (laugh)
