Ah! Maddeningly vague, but it answers the question. Thank you, CJ.

Whatever it was, the new version did the trick. I guess I'll have to recompile the old games with the new build of AGS and replace the old links on the games page.

Now I have a project to work on during lunch!

UPDATE: The recompiled version works just fine for biorogue. Anyone have any idea what the crucial difference was? I'm stumped.  ???

Your best bet for Monkey Island sounds is to download ScummVM and the Monkey Island games and record your own. MI is a pretty old series and ready-made wav files from it may be hard to come by any other way.

Does Gordon Freeman have any vocalizations? I can't remember him speaking.

(Bunch of Duke Nukem Sounds Here)

So when are you going to do an interview with Vince Twelve? I've been waiting and waiting for it!

Checking in to see what everyone's posting...

Hmmm...

Not too many posters this time, but there is some REALLY nice stuff this time around. (Amazing looking first AGS game, Sanou!)

C'mon, people. Surely more of you have been working on something since the last time we did this!

Would recompiling the game with the new version of AGS do the trick? I still have the complete game files laying around here somewhere.

Thanks for such a quick response!

EDIT: The game was made with AGS 261 by the way.

I reinstalled the game on my newer system, and it ran just fine.

CJ, what is the error and what causes it? Is there a way I could easily patch it?
#4707
Damn! I've been playing around with something like this for months. I was hoping to unleash it's awesomeness here when it was done.

Now my thunder has been stolen!

What will I do with myself now? Who will be impressed with my "also ran" status? How can I ever learn to love again?!?

*sob*  :'(

Oh well, there's always beer.

A greater polygon count. Building half-life 2 mods with AGS takes forever! Also, all future updates of AGS should be distributed through Steam. Direct and simple downloading feels so last century.

And a few more room background frames.

Also support for movies in a /movie file (if at all possible).

And an "Order Pizza" button on the editor pane. I shouldn't have to get up and go make the phone call myself, not when I'm on a roll. This is an oversight that's been holding AGS back since it's earliest incarnations.

Other than these few quibbles, I can't think of anything AGS particularly needs.

Thanks for the continuing fine work, CJ!

A little late to this thread, but life is crazy right now.

I'm working on a new Barn Runner game that's sort of an homage to Al Lowe and Leisure Suit Larry. I'm also trying to streamline the old interface I've been using forever.

The player's DataLink lists the objectives the detective has to accomplish. I'm also going to incorporate the DataLink into the save/load interface, the setup controls, and the inventory. This should give the game GUI a nicely integrated feel.

The Inventory GUI

The Save Game GUI

The Setup GUI

I have some of the various ladies animations up and running, but I'm going to keep them in reserve until I "sneak peek" them closer to release (hopefully by the end of summer).

This isn't much to look at right now, I know, but I should have something more to show once I've had another month or so to work on it. Plus, I'm really proud of these GUIs as I coded every bit of them myself. No plugins or cut n paste code. It was a LOT harder than I thought it would be!

Everyone's work looks very promising, but I was hoping more people would have something to release. Still, what's the AGSers have shown here looks quite good.

I'd love to see the dalek walkcycle  :=

I have a Dalek walkcycle in one of my games. Devilshly hard thing to do! I agonized over it for nights. "But is it rolling left to right Dalek-y enough?" Almost as hard as putting R2-D2 in a game, I tell you!

Seriously, I plan to follow this game's development. I loves the old Doctor Who. I hope the scarf will be a vital part of the game.

I quite like this idea.

Honestly, by the time summer break rolled around, I was so behind on what games had been released since last summer, I had no idea what to download.

Clicking through page after page looking for those one or two games that suit my off-beat tastes does get a bit tedious.

Anything that helps someone find a game they're more likely to enjoy (I highly suggest the Barn Runner series -- shameless plug!), is welcome and valuable for the AGS community as a whole.

Good lord those articles take me back... back to a day when highly anticipated games were't GTA or Halo clones.

Once upon a time, LucasArts made quality games without outsourcing them and Larry Laffer gave hope to men everywhere ;-)

Thanks for the memories, LimpingFish.

Good stuff as always, Vince. Here's hoping that the next one (where you interview Flukeblake at long last) won't take too long to post on the net!

I got the answers to the test from someone. Otherwise, I would have never made it here. ;)

Looks pretty cool.

Nah, I haven't updated to 2.7. After I finish the game I'm working on, I'll upgrade to the new engine. Until then, I'm sticking with the old workhorse I started with. I've put to much time into enemies hit points and spawning code and the guns each character carries to try and port it over to 2.7. I finally got it working under 6. Don't want to jinx anything!

I like your idea of a shotgun. All the Barn Runner guns are ray guns, so it really comes down to the little ray gun, the big ray gun, and the really big ray gun with three barrels. So I never worked with anything more complicated that burst fire and three shots in the air at once.

I'm curious to see where you go with this code. Are you working it into a game?

Merry Christmas.

Everyone make sure to leave milk and cookies (or beer and pizza) out for St. Nick tonight!

I can see those shots and they look pretty good! One thing about the model. You may consider add some bounce moving to her head because it just look like a robo head or something.

This is why I love this forum. Anywhere else on the Internet, people wouldn't suggest that you add bounce to her HEAD. The level of discourse here rarely falls into the childish.

The game looks great. I can't wait to play it. I loved Tomb Raider, but I agree that the ancient control scheme and squared off world sort of leaves me cold nowadays. Plus, I always wanted Core to do a proper adventure game with Lara.

This game is going on my "watch closely" list.

So THAT'S why the "Twelve Interviews" stopped! You were waiting on the stork. It all makes sense now!

Congrats on the baby. Cute as a button! Spoil the hell out of her while you can cause she'll be a surly teenager before you know it!

Why not call it Kinoko? Hell, I name all my pets and most of my furniture "Ponch", helps me remember when it's time to log on.

InCreator - Yeah, I know it's a tired old sprite, but I'm a tired old man. That explosion is a placeholder and I hope to replace it with something better before I release the game. It's kind of low on the priority list, but it's due to be replaced eventually.

SpacePirateCaine - Cool model sheets. Your character design really shines.

Krysis - I love cows! Every AGS game should feature a cow in some form. The lord of the cows commands it!

Well, it looks like Release Something (autumn) if finally winding down. I look forward to the next one. I can't wait to see how some of these games progress.
