Quote from: Khris on Wed 16/11/2022 13:19:09Wait, what do you mean by AGS randomizing the results?

Something so simple like that:
Code: ags
cnonplayer.SetIdleView(430,1);

Works in some scenarios or events but not in others.

It's a problem that I hadn't experimented in my early game, that line it worked always and in all cases.

But I don't want to bother you with this little issue, Khris. Usually I use that command to make the characters blink. I don't want to make a big deal out of it. I'm not worried at the moment, but what's clear is that it's something strange and out of logic.

All it seems correct, it's like AGS randomize the results. I don't understand. One thing that I noticed in non playable characters is that if I add a Changeview instead of a Lockview for them, the SetIdleView works.

Luckily, I have a seedy tricks for fix that issue, but I don't understand is that something that had always worked for me, now don't do it.

I recently have trouble getting the SetIdleView command to work with characters other than the player.
If I code
player.SetIdleView(43,1);
it works like a charm for the main character, but when I do the same with another character it doesn't play its idle animation.

I'm using the 3.5.1.19 build. Has anyone had a similar problem? I don't remember having this problem in other games.
#48
Same here with  3.5.1.11.
#49
I had the same problem adding Nightmare Frames on the database. And that's right, the issue was trying to paste the whole YT link in the field.
Thank you both!

Thanks to you all! The first reviews are being very positive and the feedback from the players is very enthusiastic.
Nightmare Frames wouldn’t have been possible if it hadn’t been for this wonderful community.  ;)

Alan Goldberg is a frustrated slasher movie screenwriter in the Hollywood of 1985 who feels his career is at a standstill, but his luck is about to change:
Helen Westmore, an eccentric millionaire, will grant him anything he could wish for if he is
able to find genius horror director Edward Keller's last, unpublished work, which is said to be
the scariest film of all time.

Alan will find his way amongst B-films production companies, VFX workshops, religious cults,
and a small haunted town called Serena, the dark reputation of which began when Keller was last seen there.

FEATURES:

   -  Point & click adventure game solely based on inventory puzzles.

-   An investigative thriller that gets darker as you progress into the story. From ambient horror to the gory depths of Hell.

-    More than 80 playable locations, and 50 characters to interact with.

-    Original soundtrack by synthwave musician Stefano Rossi.

-    In Joe's Diner you'll be able to listen to SYNTHWAVE FM, where DJ Karen Johnson broadcasts licensed tracks by Heclysma, Decade Defector, Vincenzo Salvia and Self Delusion.

-   By the author of award-winning Urban Witch Story and Billy Masters Was Right.

Updated with the Final Trailer! The game will be out on June 16th!

Hi, community!

I’m planning to release Nightmare Frames  in mid-June. Yes! The game is in an eternal testing loop and it seems that everything works perfectly

https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=58567.0

I need some brave testers to examine the English text of the game by pointing out grammatical errors, construction, etc.

The deadline will be from the start to approximately two weeks. The average time of the game is 8 hours and there's a lot of text. So please, if you commit, make sure you have enough time!

Sadly, the budget of the game is 0, so I can't offer anything but a digital copy of Nightmare Frames, your name in the credits and all my eternal gratitude.

If you want to join in this adventure, please DM. But please make sure you have enough time!

EDIT: Help found! Thank you very much!!

What a wonderful ceremony! I enjoyed it a lot! The sense of community was there, it was the best of it.

And congrats to all the winners!

The demo was great! I liked especially the setting, which felt original. I got the feeling that the authors of the game know what they are talking about.

I was one of those teenagers who devoured the Fangoria magazine every month. I was fascinated by that Hollywood outside the big studios (b series production companies, FX workshops, etc.).
In the first act I wanted to create the version of how I saw that world as a teenager in accordance or not with reality.

Thanks for your words and for the wishlist, Rongel!

That's right. That line in particular shows that the player does not start from scratch with Alan. There was life in that world before the player started playing. I hope that the players understand the concept.

Fixed that phrase. Thank you very much!

I'm aware of the grey box at the bottom corner. It's the remain of the Steam popup's "Acces the Steam Community while playing". I notice this happens with the 3.4.3  version of AGS (Nightmare Frames Demo),  but not in 3.5.1 (the full game). You can make disappear this grey box doing alt+enter two times.

Thanks for your words, Rik!

You're right, heltenjon. I can say that Nightmare Frames is a detective game.

The narrator here is ubiquitous. He knows everything about the world and the people and the people who live in it. There are times when he gives us details of things that Alan (the player) does not know. I like that kind of narrator in such games like Mytho's Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes. It adds a lot of depth to the world and information that the protagonist does not necessarily need to know.

Thank you very much for playing and wishlisting it. And thank you to all for the positive feedback! The demo is just the tip of the iceberg!

Last year I didn't submit Urban Witch Story for best music/sound, precisely of what you mention. I was the first one surprised that Urban Witch won that undeserved award. I guess the people who voted were unaware that the music was in the public domain.

But yes, there should be a rule that everything that can be voted on should be from an original source.
