I think that PS1 and PS2 had the most good games during the previous two generations, but I also think that the good years are almost over for sony and I would rather get a Wii this time around.  It feels nice to finally say that I want a nintendo system agian, because I have not owned a nintendo since the good old SNES days.

Europe must get a very different selection of games if the only PS games you can find are sports over there.

Nice entries, but erm.. SPRITE jam, no?Ã,  ::)

(Except the first entry, natch)

The alien one makes me laugh! Esper's is too obscure for me!

A traditional sprite would not include two seperate characters posing together anyways, right?Ã,  So i figured the rules might be relaxed on this round.Ã,  I don't know. I am glad you thought it was funny though.Ã,  :)

Parody of a famous scene from alien 3 ;D

I have to give 1st to BaRon because of the detail for the animation in the arms and face, and extra points for being in a sushi shop because sushi is favorite of mine and the only way I could enjoy sushi more is if it was prepared by a ninja!Ã,  ;D lol
The cool fight scene from Twirlly wins the silver ninja.
since mecha-samurai was not used in any animations, i changed the awards to the gold and silver animation ninja!Ã,  (if anyone still wants the original awards i still have them on my computer and will post) the new awards will be added to this post in a couple minutes
1st BaRon
2nd Twirlly
Thank you Twirlly and Bubbles for the comments on my sprites.
and thank you BaRon and Twirlly for entering the contest.

I don't know who Shelley Duvall is, so it might be her and I wouldn't even know.Ã,  Found the image with a random google image search and it seemed to fit the composition I had in mind once i gave her wings and a sword.

The skull is from a plastic skeleton for medical students that I also found with a google image search.

so I'm guessing everyone likes the death card better of the two then......
#31

Used 6 images for the death card and 4 images for the judgement card.
Finally got around to throwing some stuff together tonight, I might make more if i get bored this weekend.Ã,  Tell me which one you like best.

your grass texture is stretched.Ã,  Make it repeat more instead of stretching so that it looks more like grass.

this will be a short animation done in the style of old school game cutscenes, NOT a playable game itself.  entries will be short animations just like the previous round, the words video game only apply to the theme, so do not make the animations interactive.

#34
Yes, I would play a game like this, I like mecha  ;D

It does sound like a very ambitious project, with all that you plan on including.  You might want to start thinking about which elements are the most important for the story and gameplay experience so that the project dosn't loss focus and never get finished.

Theme----Japan: the video game
--- Use your knowledge of classic japanese video games (rpg or action) and/or anime to show me what life in japan might be like if the world was a video game.
--- you must use at least 2 of the sprites that I made, but you are also free to use any classic nintendo/super nintendo style sprites or backgrounds or make new original ones.
--- The bravest animation warrior will win the golden mecha-samurai award!

Second and third will win a silver and bronze mecha-samurai, and you know that you want your very own mecha-samurai, so enter and have funÃ,  ;D

why does everyone seem convinced that this guy hand paints everything instead of using 3D models?Ã,  I see lots of evidence in his gallery that he uses 3D models, along with extensive post processing and digital painting.
he even shows some of his 3D models by themselves with no texture.

incredible gallery and very inspiring work.

thanks  :)

I will have to start working on some sprites for the next round......

(pats Illustrious on the back, and i hope you post the finished animation because it looks like it will be really cool.)

This is a great idea!  I think a lot of people will be very happy to see it, myself included.

haha, maybe I should make her wear a belt.

I am using Blender for the animation and 3D modeling in my game.

If anyone reading this has never heard of it: blender is a free open source 3D application that works great if you can learn the strange user interface.
