Yes, I totally know what you mean Fluke. Ã, My senior year in high school, I took this ridiculously hard Advanced Biology class. Ã, It was so hard that everyone failed the first test. Ã, For the first time in my life, I had to study... the horrors. Ã, I had always gotten great grades, and other than routine homework assignment, hadn't really had to study at all. Ã, Well, this class was kicking my ass the whole time. Ã, Come finals time, I was sure I would do awful. Ã, I studied like crazy for the darn thing, took it, and thought that I had failed miserably. Ã, The teacher approached me at graduation and told me I had the highest grade in the class with a 98%. Ã, You could've picked my jaw off the bround with a spatula!

I know plenty of adults that adore the books. Ã, You are criticizing us because we are not reading something with a deeper meaning or more intelligent. Ã, Harry Potter is one of those guilty pleasures. Ã, Sure, it's not deep and meaningful (although, being a sappy girl, I really like how Harry can always beat Voldemort because of his ability to love...it gives me warm fuzzies), but it doesn't have to be deep and meaningful. Ã, It's like someone choosing to watch The cartoon network instead of The West Wing. Ã, You can read it, enjoy it, and not think about it. Ã, I read all kinds of books. Ã, I'm currently fighting my way though Les Miserables, and although it is an excellent book, after awhile I have to put it down, because frankly, much of it is boring. Ã, I don't think the love in the Potter books is about wanting to be a child, it's about wanting to escape. Ã,

On them being children's books... honestly, some of the content, especially in the last three, I think is too much for younger children. Ã, I mean, there is some pretty gruesome things in the newest book especially. Ã, Just my opinion though.

To criticize us for enjoying something that takes us away from our stressful lives, that billions of people also enjoy is, forgive me for this, but it's just snobbery.

Now, back to discussing the book itself....

Spoiler
Ã, I may have missed something, so feel free to prove me wrong, but if you have to set yourself up to come back as a ghost, then did Moaning Myrtle set herself up?

Ã, Why is it so far out of reach to think that Snape was acting on Dumbledore's orders? Ã, If he would've disarmed Malfoy, or helped Dumbledore, then the Death Eaters would've known that Snape was on the good side. Ã, I think that Dumbledore knew that he had to be killed, Ã, in order for Harry to realize that he had to step up and seek out Voldemort himself. Ã, Just a thought. Ã, I just refuse to believe that Dumbledore was that naive in believing in Snape. Ã, Unless... he knew along that Snape was on the wrong side, and he knew all along that it would come to this point, and everything is just preordained in the prophecy....hmmmm maybe there's more of the prophecy that Dumbledore didn't tell Harry.

I have another theory.  Isn't it true that most ghosts come back because they are lamenting some horrible thing that happend surrounding their death?  If Dumbledore WAS wrong about Snape, then he would be feeling incredibly remorseful and could possibly become one of the Hogwarts ghosts, and haunt until this whole business with Voldemort (I'm not afraid to say it  ;) ) is finished.

Well Minimi, I loaned the books to a woman who is in her late fifties, and taught classic literature for 20 years, and she adored the books.  So to each his own.

Finished it last night. Ã, Incidently, while all of the more expensive bookstores around here sold out of the books, I headed to Walmart at 2 am opening day to pick it up, and no lines, no sell outs, and half price compared to Borders and Barnes and Nobels! Ã, Can't beat that!

Anyway, being a tremendous Harry Potter freak, I loved it. Ã, Definately much darker than the others, but that was expected.

Spoiler
Ã, Actually, I thought that the Ginny/Harry, and Ron/Hermione relationships were inevitable. Ã, They've been alluded to from the beginning.

Ã, I have a theory on the whole Malofoy/Dumbledore/Snape thing. Ã, As someone said earlier, Dumbledore was not a fool. Ã, While he did make mistakes from time to time, when it came down to it, he was probably the smartest wizard that ever lived. Ã, We already know that he knew about Malfoy. Ã, I'm guessing that he probably knew about the unbreakable all along. Ã, It's possible that he told Snape to kill him to keep Malfoy from doing it. Ã, Dumbledore cares about his students, and even though Malfoy has been a jerk, Dumbledore didn't think he was pure evil. Ã, Malfoy is an intelligent kid, with a lot of contacts, and having someone like that on the good side would have been extremely helpful. Ã, So Dumbledore told Snape to kill him if he had to, Ã, in an effort to possibly save Malfoy and turn him. Ã,

Then again, Snape could be just an evil bastard, which is more likely

Yes, I really enjoyed your game as well.  There were a few spots that I had trouble with, for example, the pearl was a little pixel-hunty.  I could see it on the desk, but it wouldn't show up.  But the story was fantastic.  The dialogue was so funny, and the characters were very original.

Also, maybe on the next one... and maybe others don't care about this, so feel free to ignore me at will  :) ... but one of my biggest pet peeves when I play a game is when you have to sit through the intro before you can load a saved game.  Yeah, I know I could click right through it, but maybe you could do a title screen, so you could load or start a new game.  Like I said, others may not care about that.  It could be just me.

I tend to be pretty old fashioned, and personally would never propose to a guy, although I admire women that have the gumption to do it. Ã, When I was single, I had enough trouble having the guts just to ask a guy out. Ã, I'm a bit of a wuss.

My boyfriend's brother's girlfriend proposed to him. Ã, She took him to dinner and just asked him. Ã, She didn't give him anything for it.

On the ring topic... personally, I could care less about the ring. Ã, I hate rings with great big rocks on them. Ã, I think they look tacky as hell, and with my capacity to lose things, I would be worried all the time, if my boyfriend bought me a 3000 dollar ring. Ã, Ok, being the old fashioned person that I am, I would like some kind of ring if I get engaged, but I've already told him that I don't care if it's expensive. Ã, I'd actually prefer it not to be. Ã,

And on weddings... ugh. Ã, We've already decided that if we ever decide to get married, we're just going to Vegas and getting it over and done with. Ã, Big weddings bore me to tears, and I don't want to put my friends and family through that. Ã, Plus, I think they're a big time waste of money. Ã, I've seen so many of my friends go absolutely insane trying to plan a wedding and spending thousands of dollars... no way. Ã, Not for me. Ã, We'll go to egas, have some fun, come back and throw a party. Ã, I guess there's some things I'm not old fashioned about. :-)

We were going to see this movie this weekend, but ended up river rafting instead.  I'm anxious to see it, as I've heard numerous times that it's much closer to the book.  As a kid, I read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator more times than I can count.  I was a huge fan of Roald Dahl growing up.  His stuff is so deliciously twisted.  While I love the original movie, it always irritated me how different it was from the book.  The movie was much more whimsical then the book was.  Not that I mind a little whimsy once in a while!  I'm looking forward to seeing a darker version of the story.  And I am fans of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp... SO  I'm thinking I'll probably enjoy it.

Incidently, Blackthorne... my boyfriend and I both absolutely loved Big Fish.  While it has it's cliche moments, it's the weidest, funniest adventure I've ever seen.  Even my dad liked it, and he doesn't like anything.

Ah Critics Lounge.. gotcha.  Yes.  CL... I get it now.  Sorry, that was my fault.  I have never posted in there, so I didn't even think of that one... where I go completed games from CL is beyond me!  Guess it's right what they say about blondes.....

It doesn't work right with Boise.  The only thing that is right is Bronco Stadium at Boise State, but everything else is all wrong.

Hmmm... this is an interesting topic.  I thought I would put my two cents in, and maybe get a few questions answered myself...

First of, I don't know how much clout my opinion would even hold here, since I have never made a game.  I did some writing for a game once, but I just don't understand enough about programming to do my own.  I come here because I have a deep love (or addiction) for adventure games, and I have the utmost respect and admiration for those of you that have the talent and the drive to keep adventure gaming alive.  That actually brings me to a question... I read in the General forum rules that you shouldn't post here if you're not a game creator.  Well, does that really mean that I shouldn't post here?  I love these forums, because most of the people are really nice, and I have a lot in common with them.  If I really shouldn't post in here, then I won't anymore.  I don't want to make anyone angry because of that.  I only post in General, Adventure Related talk and chat, and Hints and Tips.  I rarely post in others, although I do post in Completed once in a while to report a bug or tell someone what I thought of their game.

Speaking of the Completed forum.  Someone mentioned that you shouldn't go in there and post a one line comment telling someone that their game was good.  Personally, I don't see what's wrong with that.  I would think that a creator would want to know that someone really liked their game.  But, not being a creator myself, maybe I just don't understand.  I mean, I don't usually post just one lines, but sometimes I am guilty of that.

One final thought... as others have also said, these forums are mild compared to most.  There are so many forums out there that are just so full of junk.  Honestly, I haven't really seen anything that pointless here.  I guess there are some, but sometimes the pointless threads are kind of fun.  It's fun to talk about the music that we listen to and the movies that we like once in a while.   I just really enjoy these forums and the people on them.  And while I may not create games, I have played almost eery single game available here, because I just love them so much.
