Completed Game Announcements / Re: to much
Fri 08/07/2005 15:55:33
I think his logic makes sense as well.  I think a lot more people would buy it at a lower price.  And that's the thing.  If I had the skills and creativity to make a game, and I thought it was good enough to sell, I would want the most people possible to buy it, so I would put it at a lower price.  I figure, the more people that see it, the better.  But I suppose we all have different opinions on that.  I have commented on this before.  I don't even buy mainstream games for that much.  If there is a mainstream game that I want, the highest I will pay is 10 dollars.  I'll wait till I can find it used or buy it off of EBAY.

I'm glad that people are buying your game.  I wish that I could, because it seems very good.

General Discussion / Re: War of the Worlds

I haven't personnally seen the movie yet, but it's funny, those that have in my little corner of the world have had totally different opinions of it.Ã,  My boyfriend's brother and cousin saw it, and they really didn't like it.Ã,  They said that the special effects were good, but that's all it was.Ã,  They said the only character they really cared about was Dakota Fanning.Ã,  Now, these two are EXTREMELY picky about movies, and the cousin especially picks apart every movie he sees, so I rarely listen to his opinion anyway.Ã,  Ã, But then a co-worker saw it, and also said that it wasn't good.Ã,  He also said that the special effects were good, but there was nothing else to it.

Guess I'll have to see it for myself, when I came rustle up some funds.Ã,  :-)

*sniff*Ã,  I can't download it.Ã,  It just goes to a blank screen with an X on it.

Edit: Never mind.  I finally got it to work.

Jane

Spoiler
Have you read the journal in the monk's cell?  I think that you have to read the journal, and then ask the hotel guy where to find books.

CP... I think you just have to be really fast.  There's a little alcove that you have to duck into I think on that screen.  Try that.

To save, hit escape.  Pick a slot.  Type the name and hit enter ( I think).  That should do it.

Finally able to download it.  I agree on a lot of what Ashen says.  It's really hard to tell what things are on the screen. You shoudln't definately add some descriptions for the LOOK icon next time.  And I died right after the intro too!

I can understand that. :-)  I'm so poor, I don't even HAVE internet at home... I download stuff at work... which I probably shouldn't do, but I have this horrible addiction to adventure games!

Lava, if you don't download it just because of that, it is your loss, because this is a pretty cool game.  You are seriously missing out.

The Rumpus Room / Re: Best ROCK song ever!

I don't think the discussion is pointless.  Although it's impossible to discern the best rock song, it's still fun to talk about our favorites!

I can't download it either. :-(

Picking the greatest rock song of all time is like.... picking the greenest blade of grass!!! Ã, I mean, like others mentioned... there are so many genres of rock music, which has been shown by many of the choices on here.... we go from things like classic Zepplin, to be bop style like Crocodile Rock, to pop rock with Blink 182.... I suppose you would first have to define rock. Ã, Do you define rock by the people who are doing it now? Ã, Or do you define rock by who is thought to be the creator of rock... Chuck Berry. Ã, Rock has spanned decades and has changed so much over the years, that for me it is virtually impossible to pick the best.

That being said, I'm very surprised that Pink Floyd has not been mentioned in this thread! Ã, Anyway, here are some of my favorites. Ã, Now, some of these my not be the best songs of all time, just ones that I love.

Johnny B Goode - Chuck Berry
Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
Mr. Brownstone - Guns n Roses
Shook me all night long - acdc
Paradise by the Dashboard Lights - Meatloaf
If I close my eyes forever - Ozzy and Lita Ford
Ironic - Alanis
Bon Jovi - It's my Life
Bad Moon Rising - CCR
Old Time Rock and Roll - Bob Seger

I could go on forever. Ã, But you see what I mean... all of these are considered rock, but they are all so different. Ã,

And hey... cut Avril some slack. Ã, Yeah, Sk8er Boi was weak, but you have to admit that the girl's got some talent. Ã, She actually writes some pretty powerful stuff. Ã, I think that she has the potential to be a lot more than a teeny bopper pop singer.

On paying for adventure games...  It's not that I don't want to support Indie games, because I truly do...   But personally, most (not all) but most of the time, I play an adventure game once, and then I never play it again.  So, in my current financial state, buying an adventure game just isn't economically sound.  Perhaps if I was independently wealthy and had money laying around to spare, things would be different....

I do wish the game author lots of luck though.  The game looks great.

Oh I'm going to have to see that one. Ã, I don't know what it is, but ever since I was a little kid, zombie's really freak me out. Ã, A movie could be the cheesiest, most horribly made movie on the planet, but if it has zombies, it will still give me nightmares! Ã, I'm such a nerd.

Well, i'm not really a newbie, as I've been posting here for a long time, but I have question... I was reading the rules for the General Board ( I know, I SHOULD have read them a long time ago) and it's says that you shouldn't post if you aren't a game creator.Ã,  I've been posting there for a long time.Ã,  I thought the boards were for anyone who loved adventure games.Ã,  Is it really true that I shouldn't post here because I am not a creator?Ã,  I have so much fun discussing things on these boards.Ã,  I have a lot in common with a lot of people.Ã,

By the way... my name is Jen and I'm from Boise, Idaho in the US (please don't hate me for that, it's not my fault where I was born).  I'm 27, and I've been pretty much an adventure game junkie ever since King's Quest.  I spend way too much time on the computer (especially when I'm supposed to be working :-[ )  And like I said, I've never created a game, mostly because I don't know jack about programming, and I'm a pretty crappy artist.  I did work for a few months as a writer on the KQ9 fan project, but I had to drop out due to timing.  Where I lack in my drawing and artistic abilities, I make up musically (at least I'd like to think I do!)

Wow.Ã,  That was just plain rude and mean.Ã,  I have been nothing but nice to every single person on this board, regardless of where they were from.Ã,  No one has ever said anything like that to me before on here.Ã,  Maybe I'm not the smartest person when it comes to adventure games, but I love them anyway.Ã,  Yes, I had a hard time with this game, as did others.Ã,  I am really hurt by what you said.Ã,  I didn't deserve that at all.

The only reason I said the game was a pain was because there was a lot of pixel hunting.  Most people that play adventure games can agree that pixel hunting is annoying.
