Liked it.  Good job.

I didn't say he wrote the script.  I said he wrote the story.  And Lucas has said in many interviews that he had the whole story planned out in 9 episodes before he even started writing A New Hope.  Plus, from what I understand, Ep 2 began fliming before Ep 1 was even in theaters, and Ep 3 began before Ep 2 aired.  I could be wrong about that though.  Lucas KNEW what kind of characters the emperor and vader were before he wrote the script.  he know what the Clone Wars and the Rebellion were all about.  it's not like he planned this big conspiracy to put this movie out and protest against George Bush.  Lucas's whole goal for the Star Wars movies was to take us AWAY from this place and take us to another world.  I just can't see him purposely bringing us back into our world, just to make a political statement.

Maybe Ben didn't know that Leia also fad the ability to use the force.  Maybe he thought that only one child could have the power.

Just a theory. :-)

Hmmm, there's been a lot of things said here that I would like to comment on... but I'll only comment on a few...

First of all, I think the comparisons that people are making in comparing this movie to George Bush are ludicrous.  Ok, NOT a Bush fan here.  And I suppose I can see WHY someone would make the comparison... but these stories were written 30 YEARS AGO, while Bush was busy getting DUI's... long before he was even in politics.

Someone asked why it took so long to build the Death Star between 3 and 4, but not 5 and 6.  The Death Star wasn't finished in 6.  Remember?

I've seen so many people comment on the acting and dialogue in the prequels.  Come on now.  I agree with that.  It was pretty piss poor, althought I do think that Hayden was much better in 3 than he was in 2.  Still bad, but better.  Ok.  But really.  Look at the original trilogy. Now, I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan.  Always have been.  I mean, I love it.  But really.  Much of the acting was AWFUL in the original.  Harrison Ford was great, but ever think about WHY Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher have done JACK since those movies.  Because they are terrible terrible actors.  They were awful in those movies.  Of course, the dialogue didn't help.  As much as I love George Lucas and his work... he really doesn't have any idea how people communicate.  Two scenes right off the top of my head.... the scene on Endor.. "Leia, you're my sister." "I know, somehow I've always known." and then Han comes out and there's the whole "Hold me" Scene.  Awful awful scene.  And in Empire, when Han is rubbing Leias hand and she's like, "Stop that my hands are dirty."  "My hands are dirty too..."  Terrible.  Yet, I still love the movies, because it's the story that's important.

So I watch the prequels and think... wow.  What a cool story.  The movies are fun to watch.  Yeah, there is bad acting and inconsistencies, but there was the same in the original trilogy.  So I ignore that, and just sit back and enjoy the films for what they are.

Innerspace... LOVE it.  I know, I say that about most of the movies mentioned... I'm a movie junky.

On the subject of cheesey 80s movies... this one is kind of girlie (ok, it's really girlie) but any of you ever seen Girl's Just Want to have fun?  It's got Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt.  One of my favorite 80s movies.

Oh my god... I dind't think ANYONE but me remembered the Mr Boogidy movies!  Those were great.

Short Circuit... LOVE IT.

Oh oh... remember another Wonderful World of Disney movie... Not Quite Human?  There were a couple, and they were so fun.

Ok, sorry to drudge up this old thread, but there are now some sound clips from the rock opera, The Erinys on http://cdbaby.com/cd/mcvb.  I'm interested to hear any of your opinions... good and bad.  They're just short clips of the songs, but at least you can get a slight feel for it.

Thanks guys!

Happy birthday to you!

It's sad when things like this happen.  I see a different side of the perspective every day.  I believe that you SHOULD seek him out, because you honestly don't know his side of the story.

Here's why I say that.  Not saying that anyone else's situation is like this, but this does happen.  My boyfriend had a one night stand with a girl, a few months before we met.  She got pregnant and he said he would be with her and take care of her.  After about a month, she decided that she didn't want anything to do with him, but she was keeping the baby, and still wanted him in the baby's life.  He would have stayed with her, but she turned him away.  After that happened, we met, and started dating, but he still kept in contact with her, because she WAS carrying his baby.  He would even go to appointments with her.

When the baby was born, she didn't call him until 3 days later.  That was the start of the downhill spiral.  She filed for child support, which was fine.  He wanted to pay and help.  Before the child support bills started coming, he would give her money anyway, to help, and we would go and visit the baby whenever we could.  There were times though, that he didn't see the baby for weeks at a time, because the mom lived about an hour away, and we had a lot of car problems at the time, and no money.

After a while, the child support bills started coming, and he started paying.  He always would pay on time.  Then he found out that she had been on medicaid during the pregnancy, and the Health and Welfare system is making him pay 3000 dollars of her medical bills, while she pays nothing.

So he was paying child support, and visiting the baby when he could.  She would even bring the baby to our house sometimes.  He asked her once, if he could take the baby for the day, because he really wanted to spend some one on one time with his son.  She refused.  She said that the baby did not know him well enough.  So, he kept visiting the baby when he could.  At Christmas time, his mother came to town, and he asked again if we could take the baby for the day, so his mother could meet him.  The answer again was no.  Not just no, but a huge screaming fight.

All this time, he is still paying support.  So he sets up a schedule.  every Saturday we go to the mom's house with her and her boyfriend, so my boyfriend can see his son.  We did this for two months, and he asked again if he coudl take him for a day.  Surprisingly, this time the answer was yes.  The day before we were supposed to take him, she called and told him that she wanted more money.  She said she the child support was not enough, and she wanted 200 dollars more for day care.  He does not have any amount of extra money.  He works in a grocery store, and really doesn't make that much money.  So he tried to compromise.  I would pay some of his rent, and he would give her 100 dollars.  She freaked out, and told him that he wasn't stepping up and that he could not see his son at all if he didn't give her the money.  He didn't have the money, and so now, it's been three months since he's seen his son.  He cries every night because he misses him.  He wants to go to court and sue for some kind of partial custody, but he can't afford a lawyer.  She won't let him see the child.  Yet, she tells her friends that he doesn't WANT to see the child.  We know this because some of her friends came to his place of work and threatened him.  He's afraid that when his son gets older, his mother will tell him that he didn't want him, which is so far from the truth.

He is a good person, and he WANTS to be in his sons life.  He is stuck between a rock and a hard place.  Child Support Services won't help, because they see him as the bad guy.

He's hoping upon hope that when his son gets older, he wants to find his real dad and get to know him.  So I say, go search out your dad.  You never know the real story.

The thing I remember the most was the witch reaching for the cherries on the tree, and the dome of the tree closing on her hand, and her going all gross and dying.  It freaked me out bad!

Hmm, I saw the movie last night as well. (and now, 4 hours later, I'm sitting at work worshipping my cup of coffee...)  And I have a different opinion....

Personally I thought it was GREAT.  I mean, sure, we ALL know what's going to happen, but it still hit me like a ton of bricks when it did.  It's the first Star Wars that actually made me tear up a little.  Of course, I didn't analyze the inconsistencies as much as some people do.  I just sit back, watch, and enjoy.  I thought it tied episode 2 to episode 4 extremely well.  Yet again, Yoda was a bada$$.  R2 was fabulous.

Seeing it opening night is always fun, because there's just so much excitment in the air.  People dressed up, people cheering when the credits roll, lught sabers piecing the darkness of the theater... it was a good time.

Man, Water Babies! I love that movie, watched it ALL the time. "High high high high high cochalorum!" There' a book of it too, I always meant to read it ^_^ I think everyone loves the Princess Bride... certainly all my friends are nuts about it.

Potch: I TOTALLY saw whatever movie you're describing, I've thought about it before but for the life of me I don't know what it was called! Wow, I never remembered about the withc though, you have an even better memory of it than me.

Kinoko... leaving my post yesterday inspired me to do go on an internet quest to find the movie.  After doing numerous searches for strings like... witch eats cherries to make her young, 80s tv movies (i remembered that much as well) and numerous other dead ends... I decided to try a different approach, and did a search for 80s toys.... I had a feeling that the thing started with an H... and I was right.  It was The Huggabunch.  Such a cheesey stupid movie, but for some reason, I thought it was cool.

Mary Poppins... awesome.

Loved care Bears as well... and there was this movie I saw once that I thought was great.  I don't remember what it was called, but it was this fantasy thing, where these dolls came to life (I think) and they went through the closet in the kids room to this land, where there was this witch, and the witch had to eat these cherries or something to stay young.  I remember the dolls or whatever they were foiled her in the end by trapping her had with the cover of the cherry tree or something.  I remember it vaguely, but I remember that I LOVED it.  I think the dolls were some kind of doll that were really popular at the time, like the  cabbage patch kids or something like that.

Most of you mentioned my favs from when I was a kid... Neverending Story, Labyrinth, Goonies, Dark Crystal (I had a little record of that, which I knew by heart when I was 5)

I also liked Legend (did someone already say that one?).  And there was one summer where I watched Ghostbusters every single day.  And Charlotte's Web.  That's a childhood classic.  OH... and how could I forget... I thought Flight of the Navigator was the coolest thing as a kid.

Secret of Nimh was actually my favorite book.  I read it like 20 times when I was a kid.  I was very disappointed in the movie though.  The book was fantastic.  There was a sequel too, called Racso and the Rats of Nimh.

And Darth... I remember Explorers.  I LOVED that one.

Not bad.  I like the guy's voice as well, although I'm getting sick of him saying, "i don't know what to do with it!"

It's a bit pixel hunt-ish, like someone mentioned earlier. But so far, I like the puzzles. :-)

Well I did it over again, and didn't get the bug.  The first time I got the bug, I didn't

Yeah, I'm excited to see how this turns out.  I actually worked as a writer for the story for a while, but they just needed too much of my time.  I wish it the best though.  I really didn't want to have to quit it, because I have been such a huge fan of the KQ series.  It was an honor to work on this as little as I did. :-)
