Ken recognises you, and he doesn't seem to like you. Maybe he would talk to you if he thought you were someone else?

Janet from Wadjeteye contacted me about releasing their games commercially on Linux. One question she asked me was about an installer. I don't have any experience with creating an installer, so I wasn't much help.

1) Do you think they need an installer? Or would a .tar.gz be enough?
2) If they do decide to do an installer, what should they use?

Maybe I'm old school, but I'd prefer a simple .tar.gz with the binaries/assets in it.

Oh, that's great news! For me a simple .tar.gz would be enough, but I guess that many people would like a simple installer script that generates an entry for the desktop menu.

Maybe there's something in your apartment that you haven't found yet.

There's a nice review of Conspirocracy at Indie Game Insider.
It's a good read, and it pretty well sums up what the game is about.

I'd prefer an additional "Best Free Game" award. If a free game also wins the "Best Game" award, then it really deserves both awards. And if a commercial game wins, then there's still an award for the best free game.

...and before we let them scout, maybe we can ask the rangers if they already know something about the surroundings of our kingdom. They must have come from somewhere.

Hey, that's pretty nice. :)
We could turn this tread into a "Let's remake Ponch's avatar in as many styles as possible" challenge. For that we need even more artists drawing or modelling cows. ;)

Do you have this rigged with skeleton or just manually moving the mesh around? Either way, if you have the standing model could you zip it over, I'll see if I can give her a go.
Pssst... that's not an animation, it's Ponch filmed in front of a blue screen. 8-)

I can upload the model if you're interested, it was done in Blender. I rigged it, but that was done quickly and rather chaotic, so the skeleton wouldn't be much help for you. It's a simple model, and it shouldn't be too hard to imitate the original animation. But I actually like the way the cow moves now, so I'll leave it at that. :)

It's not meant as an exact replication, I guess that wouldn't really work in 3D. But you can never have too much bum-wiggling :-D

Final update + front view:

Here's a quick update. Should I do something meaningful instead? Maybe, but what could be more meaningful than a cow?

Critics' Lounge / Re: Troubling perspectives

I think the table and the fm scale are off:

The lines on the fm scale are parallel, but that doesn't match the perspective of the clock. And to the left of the clock the table seems to be bigger than to the right. It's late and I'm tired, so I don't know how to describe it better. ;)

Thanks everybody. Right now we're 34% funded, with 3 weeks to go.

And as promised we've released an animated blooper reel:

The old Monkey Island style is hand-pixeled, so if you want to imitate that style, you'll have to do it the same way. However you can try to fake an "old school" look by scaling the image down (e.g. to 320x240). Then you get the low resolution of these old games (and don't need a mosaic filter by the way).

Some color reduction might also help:

But of course this will never look exactly like a hand-pixeled background.

"Beneath a Steel Sky" had LMB=walk+look and RMB=interact
I had no problem with this setup, for me it felt right. ;)
