Messages - Problem

I think it is interesting enough for a bigger game, and without time limits you could make a funny game that's really worth playing  :)

It's nice, but you shouldn't use black for the nose and mouth. Use a darker shade of the skin colour instead, and it will be quite good.

Yes, that's right. It was not that tough for me as I used Protracker (Amiga) and FastTracker before, so I just had to get used to the interface.

Good idea Geoffkhan, thank you.

I don't use Fruity Loops. I use Jeskola Buzz (because it's free and I like the tracker style) and my own keyboards and synths. But this time I just used Buzz for everything.

Thanks for your comment, entry_level_model! Of course it can be improved. As you said, the drums could be better, and the general sound quality is not the best. I did that in 2 or 3 hours, maybe I will spend more time on it, to make it better.  I'm glad that you like it  :)

I don't know if it will end up in an AGS-Game (the one I am working at has a very different athmosphere), but if anyone wants to use this in a game, just ask me.

I just completed it. It was great, you did a good job. The only thing that I didn't like was the walking animation, that could be improved. But everything else was very good. The graphics are fantastic.

Now there are 5 MAGS entrys this month, and all of them are good ones. It will be hard to decide, for which entry I will vote.

I really feel stupid, I'm stuck right at the beginning:

I just can't get rid of that barrel. All I could do was to make a scratch into the stripe. I have no idea what to do now, I think I tried everything. Maybe I overlooked something?

Critics' Lounge / some electronic music

Hi,
I usually make more quiet acoustic music, but I thought I could also try out something more synth-based. This one is not really for an AGS-Game, but it COULD be ;-)
It is not very polished and there is a lot of room for improvements, but I'd like to hear some opinions.
Don't worry about the abrupt ending, as the music is supposed to be looped.

The idea of mixing up elements of adventures and rpg is very good. I liked the game a lot, but the story could be more original. As already said, in the second part I think the battles were too hard and too much. There still is room for improvements, but there are no real weak points in this game and the idea is very good.  I'd love to see more games of that kind, and I hope you keep up that great work! Thumbs up!

It is okay for a first try.
The weakest point is the music. It really would have been better without this music. Music contributes to the athmosphere as long as it is well done. But otherwise it can really get annoying. You could have used some soundeffects instead. The walking animation could also be improved, and the game was quite short.

BUT (yes, this is a positive "but"  ;))
all in all this is a good first adventure, there were no big mistakes, some nice jokes and you did a good job on background graphics. I think there is a lot of potential, so I'd like to see more of your work  :)

This is very very very good!  :)
An original story, lots interesting and funny characters, and wonderful backgrounds!  :)
But, as you already mentioned, there are still many animations missing.  That gives the impression of an "unfinished" game. If you add the missing animations, it will be one of the best AGS games ever.
I didn't think the puzzles were too simple. Could be more difficult, but I think they are okay. Sometimes I had to do pixel-hunting to find the right hotspots.
But all in all you did a fantastic job. Already waiting for the sequel...  ;D

I finished it (not with the perfect score), and liked it a lot. This is a great first game. To give you some more feedback, here are some ideas how it could be improved:

- I would have liked more consistency in your background graphics. You mixed up cartoon graphics with photos and that doesn't go together very well. The quality of the Backgrounds is also very different from screen to screen. Some look strange, others look really beautiful.

- The game was a little quiet, more sound would have improved the athmosphere of the game

- The story could be more detailed, with more characters involved.

These are just some ideas how you could improve your next games. Al in all, I really liked your game, so I hope to see more games from you soon  :)

Ah, okay. Let's see if I can find some  :)

Edit:

Yes, I must have been blind  ;D
I finished the game, it was great!  One of the best AGS games I played so far.

Hi,

My name is Denis, I'm 23 and live in Kassel (Germany). I'm new to AGS. I am interested in programming and I always wanted to create an adventure game. Unfortunately I never had enough time to program a game engine all by myself. And if I did, there wouldn't have been any time left to make an adventure with it ;)
Now that I tested AGS and played some games made with it, I want to create an adventure together with some friends, but I have no idea what it will be like yet.

Besides, I am a musician, I spend most of my free time making music. I am horrible at drawing rooms or sprites, but that's okay for me ;D

I agree this is a great game. I loved the animations, the puzzles, the music - everything ;-)
But now I am stuck - or maybe there is another design flaw

Spoiler
I used the sea water to make grog, but now I have no water left to make the golem. Do you just have to make the golem BEFORE you make grog (so I have to restart the game), or is there another way to get any water?
