Well, the Title is pretty self explanatory.
What do you think is the greater OS, Windows, Linux or Mac?
I'm going to say Windows, but this may not be fair to Linux, as i have spent plenty of time with Mac and Windows, but only about 5 hours messing around with Linux.
What's your opinion, Windows Linux or Mac??

HISTORY
-------------------
Back last year, I began a project, mainly just to screw with the software and produce a playable tech demo. Unfortunately, it didn't go too well. There were bugs, the graphics were god-awful, and the audio sounded like i had recorded three rambling mental patients and clumped it together.
However, with much thought and the resistance of procrastination, i decided it was time to revive this bug-covered, smudged together, audio-screeching goliath.

STORY
------------------
The year is 2821, and the main form of entertainment is Pod Rolling. Pod Rolling encompasses contestants rolling into Metroid Prime-like balls, and roll around the board, collecting items, battling evil-doers, and eventually getting to the exit zone.
You are one of these contestants, and the greatest tournament ever has just begun.
It will take guts, tactics and a smooth key-finger to win, but the prize will be greater than anything you could imagine.

General Discussion / Family Guy Videogame
Thu 12/10/2006 23:43:53
So, the official "Family Guy" videogame launches in the US in not too long, and I myself recently pre-ordered it. I've been checking out the official site and from the screenies, it looks pretty awesome.
Some FMV's have also been posted on Youtube, just search "Family Guy Videogame".
I for one think that a family guy game is well overdue, and am excited to see that from the videos i have seen of it, the humor of the TV show is  maintained in the game.
What are your thoughts about this game??

Episode 2 Scene 1 Script
Howdy.
I recently finished up an episode of my soon to be started
web-cartoon, "The Adventures Of Bob, The Baked Bean" which details the life of a baked bean. Word.
I currently need 4 voice-actors for the following parts:

"Peece the Greenbean"(female)-One of Bob's friends, Peece is a string bean who has an optimistic view of life.

"Joe the Coffee Bean"(male)- Another of Bob's personal friends, Joe is a coffee bean who is claustrophobic, due to his mother being put inside a coffee machine and crushed when he was a young age. Nevertheless, he is rather tough and streetwise.

"The Aliens"(???) - A group of cloned aliens who monitor Bob, Joe and Peece constantly through hidden cameras.

"Pazz the Assassin"(male)- Pazz is an assassin who was hired by a shady organization to kill Bob, for reasons unknown"

If anyone can help provide a voice for one or more of these characters, please PM me, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Flukezy.

Adam Sessler V Jack Thompson
X-Play's Adam Sessler debates videogaming with anti-videogameing lawyer/attorney/activist Jack Thompson. Oh, and there's some guy in the middle.Ã,  ;D
Enjoyable, I think Sessler's comments were truthful.
Truth be told, i'm getting a little sick and tired of Thompson's escapades.
At any length, enjoy.

General Discussion / "Arranger" Keyboards
Sun 17/09/2006 03:23:05
Howdy.
So I've been thinking about getting a new keyboard(er, of the musical variety) and have stumbled across a neat little one that isn't too expensive.
However, i notice it is referred to as an "arranger" keyboard.
Anyone know what this means?

General Discussion / Problem Playing AGS games
Thu 14/09/2006 09:03:49
Lo.
For a while now, I've been having a problem playing AGS games.
Whenever I download a fine AGS game, i click it's icon.
And then have an hour of this.
Anyone care to remedy, as this is really annoying me.
Cheers,
Fluke.

Critics' Lounge / Model Club Logo
Tue 12/09/2006 07:40:54
Lo.

My friends and i are starting a Wargame Model Club, competing with other clubs, entering tournaments and the like. Anyway, I've been throwing around some ideas for a logo. This is really just a preliminary, but hopefully some of your ideas'll be able to make it look a little better.
Cheers,
Fluke.

Lo.
So i'm in the middle of developing a game in which will require massive amounts of inventory space (in the field of around 200+) and was wondering if there was a "limit" on the amount of inventory items you can make.
Answers apperciated.

General Discussion / Music Publishing Problem
Sat 09/09/2006 00:53:10
Okay, so I'm starting to really "get into" using the inter-web for means of music publication, and while i can compose, record etc. fine, there is one slight detail that troubles me.
With most music running on WMP/similar it shows the artist's name above the song playing (like this ).
I've tried looking through the settings/startup wizard on my Composition program (NoteWorthy Composer), but to no avail. On the startup screen it DOES ask you for the composer's name, which i do put in every time, but this does not show up on the finished project anywhere except in the Properties.
Anyone know if there is a program or anything to help destroy this problem?
Cheers,
Fluke.

That's right folks, it's time for Flukeblake's 2nd Annual Game Thread!!

FLUKEBLAKE'S 2007 LIST OF GAMES
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WARHAMMER 40'000: DAWN OF WAR-DARK CRUSADE

SUPER MARIO GALAXY
RELEASED ON: WII

While not really a "sequel", this IS the obese plumber's 141'st outing. No seriously, look it up.
SMG is looking like a pretty nice little game, and the graphics aren't too hard on the eyes.

GRAND THEFT AUTO IV
RELEASED ON: PS3, XBOX 360

Just think, in just a tick over a year we'll be gunning down "bustaz" on next gen hardware. GTA IV looks like it will take place in Tokyo, possibly meaning the ability to drive in a dragon. Hells Yeah.
GTA IV looks like it'll have a top-notch AI system, and will constantly have The Man on your tail. This looks like one to watch out for.

NO SCREENS AVAILABLE

TEKKEN 6
RELEASED ON: PS3

Give your dog/mother a month's worth of dog food and lock yourself in your bedroom, Tekken 6 will be in town damn soon!
For those of you with a non-bulky exterior and accidentally ate yourÃ,  Ã,
numchucks, Tekken 6 will provide a solid fighter with most of the characters from the previous games, such as Jin, Devil Jin, Heihachi (will someone PLEASE Kill this guy for good?)
and all the scantily clad females that look more at home on Rumble Roses.
At any length, the ol' Tekken looks like it'll be a good performance in the category of awesome.

HALO 3
RELEASED ON: XBOX 360

Master Chief is back, baby!
The third epic outing of the green machine is looking like one helluva ride, with new weapons, new characters and new maps. Dammned Covenent don't stand a freakin' chance!

THE SOPRANOS
RELEASED ON: PS2, XBOX 360

Coming out very, very, very soon, The Sopranos is looking like one nice game, featuring all the locations of the TV Show, plus some new ones, not to mention characters.
The storyline is standard mafia fare, you go from a low-level crim to toprank crimeboss. It looks brutal, and one to look for very soon.

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess
RELEASED ON: WII

The last game is coming soon, it's that sword-wieldin' hero Link,
in an awesome new Zelda title, which will feature EVERYTHING you ever wanted to do with Link. He swings, he flies, he shoots his arrow into the cortex of a Sheikah!

Well, that's it for another year. There were a lot of games that looked great in that seven, let's hope they deliver!
Cheers,

General Discussion / Correct Pronunciation
Thu 07/09/2006 06:35:31
So i was listening to David Bowie's "Suffragette City" a few days ago (being the sucker for the classics, that i am  ;D) and i noticed something odd. During the begging-middle-ish of the song the main line is pronounced Suffra-JET City, whereas i can distinctly hear it pronounced Suffra-GET City.
Is this a mistake on Bowie's part or am I simply not hearing it correctly?
Cheers,
Fluke.

Lo.
I was thinking about it, and does anyone else ponder the possibility of an AGS-developed Christopia game?
I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in the Christopia thread way back.
Anyway, i was thinking it could be one of those Massive Contribution games, perhaps we gather our best and brightest in their varied talents (graphics, dialogue, audio etc) and have it as a section on the main page.
I've compiled a list of some possible forumites for this project.

UNOFFICIAL INCOMPLETE LIST FOR CHRISTOPIA GAME
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Music - Nikolas
*BGs - After seeing their awesome CL Tablet entry, Mordalles?

And that's about all i can think of, will edit and nominate some sprite artists, Dialogue, story editors etc.

Please tell me what you think and if you think this idea could work.
Cheers,
Fluke.

So i'm considering buying some hosting, and i stumbled upon this little site.

http://www.jumba.com.au/content/personal/us-plans-pricing.php

Now, i'm considering buying the US-P2 package.
So i'm thinking, that's $30 Australian. To you Americans/Englanders that's about $23 and 12 pounds respectively.

800MB of disk space sounds sweet.
8GB of data transfer sounds sweet.
Unlimited Subdomains sounds sweet.
Free setup sounds sweet.

Now call me a Doubter, but i just know there's some sort of flaw.
Theory 1: It's a scamola.
Theory 2: There's some hidden flaw that my n00bz0rz does not see.
Anyone want to quench my fears?
Cheers,
Fluke.

General Discussion / Well this is awesome...

Apparently Iron Maiden made a video game 7 years ago!
I have no idea how i missed this as i thoroughly enjoy IM (of course it would have been easier had i not been 7 years of age and missed the hype that was i'm sure concocted!) but apparently they did.
Anyone play it? I'm thinking of firin' up the ol' ebay and checking out if i can get a decent price.
Cheers,

General Discussion / Bye Bye E3
Fri 25/08/2006 08:20:02
Unless you have been living under a rock for a while (come on, it's not THAT bad!), you'll no doubt've heard that E3 has been "reconstructed".
Invitation Only.
Now, this does not affect me Personally, apart from the fact that i loved watching the E3 vids people put up on YouTube, and the fact that i had planned to go to E3 when i finished High School in 4 years. However, i'd bet a year's worth of WoW subscription that it's gonna have an impact on the more less mainstream.
For example, if this had happened a few years ago, i very much doubt games like Alien Hominid would've gotten as popular as they are.
Anyone want to comment?
Cheers,
Fluke.
PS: I looked for an E3 thread, but i may have just missed it. If this is the case, feel free to delete or lock or whatever mods.

Critics' Lounge / C and C on char
Sat 12/08/2006 00:44:49

Howdy.
This is the main character of my soon to be released adventure game, Tommy Fuzz.
I took a lot of the inspiration from Max from Sam & Max, and then threw in some 80's Action Cop Show stuff.
Some C+C appreciated.
Cheers,
Fluke.

General Discussion / This pisses me off
Wed 09/08/2006 09:51:18
So i was conversing with a friend of a friend the other day, and the subject soon turned to music.

Them: What kind of music do you like?
Me: Um, Metallica, Megadeth, Slipknot, basically any kind of metal or rock.
Them: Oh, so you're like a goth.

Now this pisses me off to insane extent. If someone were to tell you that they enjoyed listening to RnB, you wouldn't instantly assume that they carry a large boombox, breakdance and wear parachute pants.
Needless to say, I abruptly told her that i was not, in fact, gothic, and that she was a stereotyping bitch.
Anyone got any comments?
Cheers,
Fluke.
