General Discussion / HTML Integrated Chatroom
Tue 08/08/2006 07:35:55
'Lo.
So, i'm going to buy some hosting and a domain in about a week, and, as you do, am preparing everything for it.
Now, i wanted to find an IRC program that's integrated into the site, through HTML or java or something.
And i did.
I find it incredibly easy if you want a single 'room, yet complex enough if you need it.
Cheers,
Fluke.

General Discussion / Have you Noticed?
Sat 05/08/2006 02:30:50
So i was watching American Dad the other day and it got me thinking. A lot of people classify AD as a derivative of Family Guy. Now, some people classify family guy as a derivative of Futurama, which is classified as a derivative of The Simpsons, which is classified as a derivative of The Flintstones, WHICH is classified as a derivative of the Honeymooners!
Anyone noticed this!?
Please comment!

Critics' Lounge / Short MIDI
Sat 29/07/2006 00:32:08
Howdy.
I'm trying to create a sort of image of say, Turkey, in the morning. There is an aura of mystery, and everyone is closing their doors and looking away, almost scared.
Anyhoo,
Just click the damn link.
C+C welcome!!

General Discussion / .Tripod or .Tk?
Tue 27/06/2006 09:24:21
Howdy.
For the last few weeks I have been working on a webcomic, one strip of which was in the Crit's Lounge.
Now, as much as i would like to buy a domain name, it's out of the question because:
a) $5 Aus. a week is kinda piddly and
b) I doubt my parents would allow it.

So, i am torn between two domains.
Either tripod, or .TK
So.
Anyone care to voice their opinions on this one?
Cheers,
Fluke.

THE AGS COLORING BALL

So, what's the deal?
An image is supplied, and entrants color. A general theme is given, but it is optional. The winner hosts the next AGS Coloring Ball.

This week's theme: Gothic.
Interpret it how you wish, be it in the skin-splittin' lifestyle of generation Y or the church style.

This week's sprite(s):

General Discussion / Need some sound clip help
Tue 20/06/2006 10:35:18
Howdy o/
I am currently making a photoshopping movie project, and i need a few sounds form a few videogame avatars.
I already have a few for the more mainstream characters (Sonic The Hedgehog and Mario),
though i have not been able to find any for the following game characters that i need sound clips of:
* Max Payne
* Tommy Vercetti (from GTA:VC)
* Carl Johnson (from GTA:SA)
* Princess Peach
* Guybrush Threepwood
* Gordan Freeman
* Crash Bandicoot (Yes, i acknowledge that he does not "talk" per se, but the "yippie!!"'s and "wahooooos!!" 's.
*Duke Nukem

If anyone could help by either locating sites with the sprites or indeed, if you have the inclination, recording voice from the actual game itself, it would be appreciated.
As for what kind of sounds, anything really.
Seeing as it's really a comedy thing where characters say completely random stuff to sensible questions, anything you can find is great.

Fluke.

Considering CJ actually makes another version of AGS, what's a feature or extension of a feature you would like to see?
I am writing this not as a "shopping list" but as a venting for anything that you would love to see happen with the Adventure Game Studio Engine.
For me, I would have to say some form of online play.

Critics' Lounge / Coloring
Fri 09/06/2006 09:24:27

I'm starting up a webcomic on the flaws of pop culture (how's THAT for a tagline!!!!)
and i'm not sure about the coloring of this.
Personally it looks a bit fruity to me, i'm trying to go for a more classy look.
Suggestions very very very welcome.

Howdy.
I'm wondering if anyone could direct me towards some tutorials on drawing vehicles (mainly sportscars/sedans and motorcycles) from a top view perspective, like the ones seen in the original grand theft auto games.
I've been googling for something like this for about an hour but alas, nothing. If anyone can link me towards a decent tutorial on drawing TV vehicles then that'd be appreciated.

Fluke.

This is a neat little engine i found for creating a text-based game. The program is called Text World and it really is quite fascinating.
The reason i've posted this here is because, well, text-based games and adventure games are the only two forgotten genres that people want back.
It is incredibly simple, and the interface barely requires a readme.
Check it out, it's nostaligic beauty.

Let me first start by being an immature boar:
GO BLUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahhh, think i needed that.
This thread is obviously a thread aimed at the couple (i think there's 6) forum members that are aussie, but i'm also interested in wondering whether other countries know about it?
For example, even though i am not american, i know that an american football event called the superbowl happens every year.
Incase not versed in the event, State of Origin is an annual National Rugby League match between two states of australia, New South Wales and Queensland.
Three matches take place, and the first one happened about 23 hours ago, and the blues(nsw) won.
So...three cheers for the blues.
Feel free to discuss/talk/throw rocks at me.

This is the first of what i hope will be a monthly competition.
What in Cuppit's sake is The Pic Remake Ball??
Every month, aÃ,  picture is supplied. A general theme is given,
although the entries don't HAVE to conform, the theme is a suggestion.
After the course of a week and three days, entrants remake the picture to their own wack ideas, or to the theme. They can use the original pic and photoshop it or create it afresh.
Whoever is hosting the comp decides which entry wins, and the winner recieves the right to host the next month's comp, and a funkay trophy for their signature.
Why should i enter this competition
If you're so much of a bitch you have to ask what you'll gain from this comp, you shouldn't enter.
Shuddup and lesh do dish alweddy
Okay folks, this month's theme is Futuristic.
Which is why i've decided to make the first pic Mona Lisa. It'll be a fantastic example
of new and old.

Do what you wish, you do not have to be restricted by the theme!!
Good luck and get those entries in quick.
Cheers,
-Fluke.

General Discussion / Competition Idea
Fri 19/05/2006 07:45:53
Howdy.
I've thought about proposing a comp idea for awhile, and then i thought of the simplest, most easy comp possible.
A coloring comp.
I imagine this:
each week/fortnight, a black and white pic is supplied.
And here's where those vital skills learned in kindergarten come in handy.
The entrants color the images in a program like MSPaint/PhotoShop, and whichever is deemed best hosts the next one.
There'll also be a "theme".
For example: draw this picture, in 70's style groove colors etc.
Comments and ideas appreciated.
Cheers,
-Fluke.

Okay,
so one of my GUI's is a "Pause" menu, effectively pausing
the game.
I've already scripted all the pause/unpause stuff,
that isn't a problem.
Now, i want the GUI to have options like Quit,
cancel, confirm etc.
So.
How will I be able to make 1 - the GUI come up when the 'esc' key (keycode 29-already scripted, don't worry about that),
and 2 - the GUI close when the player clicks
on "Cancel".
Appreciated,
-Fluke.

If anyone has played Sega's Marble Madness,
you'll know that pressing too hard in direction could cause your
avatar(the ingeniously titled "Marble") over the edge into a bottomless chasm.
I was wondering if AGS uses a possible system like this?
Obviously the game couldn't be point-n-click.
Anyhoo, i'm not planning to make a game like this or anything,
i was just wondering if AGS has a hidden coding function somewhere
that is relevant to this.
Cheers,
-Fluke.

General Discussion / An apology
Tue 16/05/2006 05:38:20
Howdy.
I've been with this community for a little over a year now,
and a few of you have noted that i'm a dick.
This has been expressed through countless threads,
stupid comments and a FOREGO for Worst Troll.
I've also had many a war in IRC.
Though here, now, and with honest genuinity, i apologize.
I wish to repent the troll-ish behaviour you have come to resent
from me.
I'm almost certain that  a few of you many not want to accept me into this community after the way i have trolled and n00bed.
I understand that this forum has shitloads of people who resent me.
Which is why i'm doing this in the first place, you see.
I've grown on this community, and although it probably sounds pathetic feeling like a forum as people i know, but this forum has a community feel that is unmatched by other forums that are simply an answer to a question in 1337 or shrthnd without heart. Which is why i am solemnly and genuinely asking for your forgiveness, and for you to accept me back in the community i know that i have appeared to have hated.
I simply want to be treated like any other forum member.
Cheers,
-A repenting fluke.

Critics' Lounge / Coloring
Sat 13/05/2006 05:30:38
For a small project i'm contemplating doing(may or may not be game related),
i thought i'd draw up a few characters for it.
They're all the same, just different coloring.
Anyhoo, if you could tell me what you think of the colors and if they work,
it'd be appreciated.
Here they are >

'Yello,
i have a question any PSP owners on the forums who bought the Core system as opposed to the value pack.
My query is this: if you buy the PSP Core Pack, is the Lithium Battery supplied or do you have to purchase it?
If anyone could help it'd be appreciated.
Cheers,
-Flukeblake.

Critics' Lounge / Midi for C+C
Sun 30/04/2006 03:21:15
I've been experimenting with Techno-ish sort of rythms and this is the fruition, "Cloud Keeper"(how's the name?)
Here it is: http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Cloud_Keeper.mid

The bass instrument is Synth Bass.
The instrument used very slightly and only at the beginning is a Synth Drum,
and the other instrument is a Rhodes Piano.
