Hey guys,
this is a game i am working on when i don't feel like working on the big game that
Hornet City (which is going fantastic, thanks) is.
It's called Highway Gauntlet, and is a drag-racing game, this would probably be the best example .

Story[-ish sorta thing]:
The story is set in 2007. All your life you have been a shy, unnoticed teen.
Until, one day, in your hometown of [fictional]Corrose, USA. You enter a streetrace.
No one expects you to win. But you do.
This is followed by the most popular racer calling you a cheat, and proceeding to steal your car, and knock you unconscious.
The next time you wake, you are in Corrose Hospital.
Your only friend Max Quite tells you that the racer that stole your car,Locker, has fleed to
Wavena, a nearby city.
In a borrowed, stock and slow car, you drive to Wavena.
When you get there, you are instantly interrogated by police officers.
After Max Quite, who, unbeknownst to you, was hiding in the back seat jacks the officers car and drives off, allowing you time to escape.
Days later you are reunited with Max, who exaplains that he hid in a sewer.
Now, with both you and Max fugitives, a slow and stock car, and a burning desire to obtain vengeance for Locker's deeds, you set off to blast through the 20 racers who stand in the way of you challenging Locker, who has risen to the top of the leaderboard.

FEATURES:
* 8 different cars, including Lamborghinis, Subarus and more.
* 25 races to complete, plus 10 unpredictable, action-packed police pursuits.
* A sprawling Wavena City for you to explore and conquer.
* An interactive SMS system.
* Music by celebrities such as me, me, me, and more.

SCREENSHOTS:

Count numbers

Drive at 11pm, making you look "hep"

Scribble on leaderboards like a damn vandal.

Rebel against THE MAN!!!

Look at "Flash" new rims!!

Conformity!!

Conformity!! (pt II)

Shadows are scary, don't you think??

COMPLETION
Story: 100%
Graphics: 80%
Audio: 90%
Scripting: 5%
Total(through the magic of averages): 65%

Well, that's all, feedback and comments are most welcome.
Cheers,
FB.

UPDATE: 26/4/06
I have been working a fair bit on highway gauntlet recently.
First of all, i've made the cars look a bit nicer, and slightly less pixelly.
Secondly, the cars are properly proportioned now, instead of one car being huge and another really tiny.
Well, that's about it.
NEW STATS:
Story: 100%
Graphics: 90%
Audio: 95%
Scripting: 5%
Total: 72.5%

That's all,
cheers.

Woozle Wazzle,
okay, as you might've seen, when i get on my pc and don't feel like working on the pretty huge slab of meat that Hornet City is, i like to work on small games. My latest one is a street-racing game. Now, my question is this.
If i use licensed cars, ie Subaru WRX, Ferrari FXX etc. for my game.
Even though it IS freeware, what kind of risks would be associated with using licensed cars?
All help appreciated,
FB.

Critics' Lounge / Another MIDI for CL
Sat 01/04/2006 04:47:40
Hey AGSers,
Here's a piece i've been working on for a while, it's supposed to portray a futuristic city, one in which man has anhilated all foes and is living under a regime of death.
Dramatic.
Anyway, heres the MIDI:http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Grazen_Azul.mid

Last night as i skimmed through the newspaper (rightly throwing the Home and Classifields away in disgust) i checked the tv listings, and realised that that night Survivor(now in it's elderly 12th season), was starting. Fair enough.
Then i wiki'd it, and found that it began mid-february in US. Not that i wanted to watch it anyway, frankly i think it's a sadistic show, a ridiculous take on reality, and featuring stereotypical characters, most of which have huge abs or breasts the size of cannonballs.
But the fact that we didn't get it till now, makes me wonder if perhaps this happens to you? Do you live in somewhere were an 8 week old episode of Family Guy is being shown to your set as 'New'?

Critics' Lounge / Nature Music

Greetos!
As you may have noted, i am taking some time off developing Hornet City to focus on my music, and this is one of my personal favorites. The Inspiration for this piece was looking at this image:

Anyway, onto the piece, Toothless
It's supposed to be a very one-with-nature piece, and while i think i did a decent job, i'm more than happy for critiques and opinions.

General Discussion / Blobocide
Sat 18/03/2006 10:35:28
Greetings,
I have been thinking about making some cartoony videos for a while now, and i finally got off my @$$ and did it.
http://rapidshare.de/files/15794052/Blobocide_Ep_I.WMV.html

The video is entitled Blobocide: EpisodeÃ,  I.
I know there are a few bad details like the fact you can barely see the writing for the ninja and the napoleon dynamite, and the music sounds damn awful in .wav, but it was the best i could do with WMM, and until i buy something better, i'm stuck with itÃ,  :-\.
Cheers,

Critics' Lounge / Short MIDI
Wed 15/03/2006 21:02:07
greetings,
here's a short MIDI i made for a part of the game where the player jumps over buildings at the darkest of night...yeah it's kind of cliche. Anyhoo, tell me what you think of this: http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Checkpoint.mid
I'm sort of going for a 24 style composition, i also want it to have mystery about it.
Cheers,

General Discussion / Personal 'Petarded' Chart
Mon 13/03/2006 08:06:01
Any decent Family Guy fan will recall the episode "Petarded", in which Peter is declared mentally retarded. A doctor shows him a Chart showing his intelligence level, which places him just below the middle of "retarded". Anyway, you can make your own one here>>:http://www.glassgiant.com/petarded/. it's pretty good fun, and okay for a few laughs, i did my personalised "evil" chart.

Enjoy!

greetings,
i have an idea, a pipedream if you will of a system like this:
to complete each game level, blocks will fall down the screen. As to not lose, you must click each block before it reaches the ground. I'm not sure if AGS's capabilites suit this, but i thought i'd ask anyway.

Critics' Lounge / MIDI for CC-Village
Wed 08/03/2006 06:05:41
Hey all, this is for an RPG my friend is making. In the first part of the game, all is well with the player and he lives in peace in the Village, a happy medieval-fantasy community, much like LOTR's Shire. Anyhoo, enough of me yabbering on, what do you think?
The Village
Like i said, this music should be the sort of thing you'd hear when looking at the shire in LOTR before all the bloodshed and misery and whatnot.
Thanks,
FB.

You know that feeling. When there's nothing decent on TV, when you've played through all conceivable videogames with your eyes closed and your hands behind your back(effectively forcing you to use your nose), all your movies have been watched 7 times(so much so that you can recite every line), all your friends are out or reconfiguring their missile defense system and you can't be screwed to do anything else. For me, i type incredibly random things on google. Things like this:
http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=Corn+Monkey&meta=
and this:
long
and this:
http://images.google.com.au/images?q=sonic+dance&svnum=10&hl=en&lr=
and this:http://images.google.com.au/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&q=box+factory

so i ask you, fellow AGS members, what random, crazy or plain psychotic queries have you typed in the hallowed
text space of Google?

Hey,
i have been looking in the manual and on the forum for a while now, looking for a way to have a system like this:
Left click will interact
Right click will move

Can this be done? And if so, can someone give me a straightforward way to do it?
Thanks,
FB.

AGS Games in Production / Hornet City
Sat 04/03/2006 02:19:51
greetings,
i have been working on this game for a while now, alongside some other projects. It's basically a mix of adventure, strategy and puzzle, all fizzled down into a basic "this was stolen, so go and get it back, stooge!" plot.
Anyhoo, enough jabbering, onto the goods!

PLOT
You are Clint Mayeralo. Five years ago you went on a vigilante mission, killing upwards of 15 criminals. Luckily, you and the Chief were friends before the incident, and managed to get you on the Hornet City PD. In those five years, you have been one of HCPD's best cops, both in SCU and OCU. On a routine investigation for a missing painting at Hornet City Museum, the chief is shot in the head by a criminal in a racing helmet. Figuring that the criminal was the one that took the painting, you must follow leads from as many sources as you can, ranging from interrogating criminal mob bosses to painting critics, so you can get the painting, and get revenge.

THE GAME
The game features 3 Modes that you play in. There is Story Mode, where you complete the above story, Free Roam mode, where you are free to explore the city as you wish, and Street Crimes Unit mode, where you have to interrogate suspects of street crimes like rape, car theft etc.

SCREENIES

Investigating the portrait's disappearance. Look at the top left hand corner to see a part of what i'm sure is a familiar painting!

Arresting a suspect in SCU Mode.

well that's all, hope to hear what you have to say!
EDIT: 22.03.06
greetings. I think you should all know that i am taking a short break on HC to work solely on my music for a while. Now, before sceptics say anything, I'M NOT QUITTING THIS PROJECT, i'm just taking some time off.
cheers,
fluke

this is part of a cutscene for a fantasy game i am developing in which the main character is swamped with a bunch of froglike creatures, called "amphibiax". Anyway, what do you thinK?
i think it looks alright but not freakish/scary enough. Any suggestions?

General Discussion / Huzzah!
Tue 21/02/2006 02:41:22
After a terror-filled few months without access to a internet(and therefore, AGS) i am happy to report i'm back! My PC apparently contracted a virus after my little sister(whom i share a pc with) downloaded a "Smiley Pack" for IM. In the immortal words of napoleon dynamite, FREAKIN' IDIOT!!
Anyway, for the last week it's been in shop and now i once again have access to one of(if not my most) beloved forums.
Cheers.

Hey guys,
if you've noticed the fact that i haven't posted anything in a while, it's because whenever i try to get onto the forums or homepage, i get the Page Not Found thing. I'm using a friends pc now. Anyway, i tried other sites, and they work perfectly. Does anyone have any  idea why i can't get on??
Thanks,
Fluke.
PS: Help!!!

2. Rage Italic
3. Sylfaen
