AGS Games in Production / Re: Hornet City
Mon 08/05/2006 06:13:57
Okay, after much reconsideration, i have decided to put the gunnery feature back in, so as to add some Driv3r/True Crime/All those other GTA knockoff-ism to it,
and make it more an Action Adventure game, as enemies will come chasing after you, and you'll have to switch cursor to the weapon you are holding (either pistol, shotgun, assault rifle, uzi, sniper rifle or melee weapon) and then aim with crosshairs where you want to shoot/throw/hit.
This may or may not be at the expense of the adventure part of it, let's hope not.
Well, i'll be off.
Cheers

EDIT: Disregard some of the above. I have decided it will be easier to make levels that are only on-rails shooting, and some that are purely adventure.
On the plus, the character doing the on-rails shooting sequences will be a hot chinese Burst Angel-looking character. Huzzah!

It's a Stewie Griffin quote.

Howdy,
after long thinking, i have decided to change the setting from a glitzy-glam city area to a more Exorcism Of Emily Rose-esque sort of setting.
This won't change the plot of characters or anything like that, but obviously this will set the graphics back a little bit.
The reason is i just think that the Village surrounding will provide for more open-world adventuring as opposed to linearity. The name change from Hornet City to Hornet Village also works well too i think.

i have started work with Hornet City on a gun-system, so at certain parts in the game, you'll pick up your rifle and start doin' what vengeful drunken cops do best.
Unfortunately, i have decided to scrap this, because i want HV to be an all-adventure game, without FPS elements.
Well, that's all, i won't deliver any more shocking changes.
Oh by the way i got a sex change  ;D.
Well, i'll be off.
Cheers

About your comments and suggestion, i have taken all of them into consideration.
1. No, it's pretty menu driven, much like  an arcade racer, except with an attempt at a plot.
2. Yep, will do. For most of them anyway, like knowing where you opponent/s are etc.
3. Will do!
4. It WAS going to be the area in which you switch gears(sort of), but with the addition of the tach, that'll be replaced.

Fluke.

Okay, i've taken your advice and i've changed the graphics around. I've also replaced my old blurry BMW M3 with the one Skurwy supplied.
So thanks to Skrurwy.
Now i'm sure you want to see the new cars, so here we go.

The updated Ford GT. If it still looks like shit, there'll be a pile of rocks for you to throw at me, just direct your attention downwards.

Well, i must, in all sincerity, thank some of you.
I think that the spirit of gameplay over graphics is pretty strong in this community, the reason i felt the courage to create a GiP thread for the game in the first place.
Even though i had a suspicion that perhaps i'd be mocked for them, i thought that perhaps prevailance would...well... prevail.
The point i am trying to make is that there is something within this community. At times it fills me with a warmth and a feeling that i wouldn't trade the fact that i am a member in these forums for the world. Then there are the times that do not.
I know i've gone a little deep for an issue concerning graphics, but, like Cap'n Binky said, we all remember when games looked like pieces of lasagna with a few green monkeys(no- wait, trees. Helemts? Ice Cream? Is it ice cream? Yeh, it's ice-cream).
So, to big brother, MrColossal, the others (feel free to kick my ass for that) and especially Captain Binky for that moving post, thank you.
To the rest of you, perhaps you could learn from the humility of the above mentioned members.
Cheers,
-Flukeblake.

thanks Gilbot.
at least someone here knows the fact that the GiP thread is a fair amount above the CL.
As for your questions on blurry graphics and whatnot,
who cares? They're graphics. I'm 13 years old.
You really expect me to produce graphics that look like they've been done from a  graphic designer with a pHd and 6 years of university?
Instead of tormenting and criticizing me why don't you focus on someone else. My dignity has been tarnished enough. You can't do much more damage to it.

'Yello,
i have a question any PSP owners on the forums who bought the Core system as opposed to the value pack.
My query is this: if you buy the PSP Core Pack, is the Lithium Battery supplied or do you have to purchase it?
If anyone could help it'd be appreciated.
Cheers,

Listen to it here.
Any help would be appreciated.

I've been experimenting with Techno-ish sort of rythms and this is the fruition, "Cloud Keeper"(how's the name?)
Here it is: http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Cloud_Keeper.mid

The bass instrument is Synth Bass.
The instrument used very slightly and only at the beginning is a Synth Drum,
and the other instrument is a Rhodes Piano.
