It's finally happened!
After 13 years of being paid out about being short,
i've had a pretty big growth spurt.
While it's not drastic (about 75% of the class are taller than me)
it's a lot better.
I CAN ACTUALLY WALK DOWN A HALLWAY WITHOUT A YEAR 9+ MAKING A JOKE ABOUT MY HEIGHT!
Ah, the puberty system works.
Cheers,
(a normal, non-short) Fb.

This is for... what kind of game?

Happy Halloween everyone!
My contribution to the Release Something 2 thread is this: Some news, a storyline and some screenies of rooms and characters of my game, Stewie Quest.

THE GAME
Enter the world of Family Guy, where the Griffins ( Peter, Lois, Brian, Meg, Chris and Stewie ) are a dysfunctional family living in Quahog, Rhode Island.
All is well until, one night, while Stewie, an intellectual baby who is pessimistic in anything and everything, is sleeping, his teddy bear, Rupert, is stolen. Stewie must find and take back Rupert, or he'll lose his best, perhaps only, friend in the world.
The game is basically a replica of topdown games where the player and NPC's are more or less just little circles with green or blue or red inside them.

UPDATE LOG
6th of September, 2005: Began work, made some sprites and stuff.

14th of September, 2005: AGS accidentally wiped off PC.

15th of September, 2005: Download AGS again.

20th of September, 2005: Made a few more sprites.

25th of September, 2005: Started working on the guide, an AGS-operated
helpbook, used rather than a Readme, and involves characters,
hints for levels, basic controls etc.

11th of October, 2005: Started making trailer + made other "ads", involving a Forum Signature and an MSN Display Pic. These items will be part of the final download package.

19th of October, 2005: Finished trailer, put together initial cutscene.

22nd of October, 2005: Gained some team members. 2 more artists, 1 more programmer and 3 people to supply everything they know about Family Guy.

SCREENSHOTS
Here are some screenshots of Stewie Quest.

The game's main menu. I'm not good at main menus, so another artist did it, but i don't like how Stewie looks, i might change that.

This is when Stewie suspects Happy-Go-Lucky Toys stole Rupert as a new toy model.
We're not gonna' say wether or not he was right.

Stewie. The original and the best.

Stewie on the right side. The walking animation DOES actually involve visual feet moving, but i'm not sure how to string together an animation on the forums.

Stewie's 17 year old sister, Meg.

Meg on the side.

A civilian. This is the civilian before Stewie vaporises him.

Well, that's it, sorry it was such a long threadÃ,  := := :=

wicked!  :D :D :D I'm a huge fan of the Halo games, they're
the height of sweet!
When you say it will be partly arcade shooter,
does that mean the AI will fire back?
Anyway congrats and good luck!

the end of my post was actually just a bit of a joke of newbie hazing, and how it can really screw people up.

His ADHD makes him endearing.
ADD. Not ADHD. I know it's not that different, but it is indeed different.

well, according to FreeGames Magazine Australia, a lot of freeware game developers give their game for free because they made it to test their skills, or as a hobby, which is a total waste of time.

hey snaezycorangeio,
welcome to the AGS Forums.
hey, we're all newbies at one time or another.
Most likely, soon you'll be a welcome member.
Or, perhaps you'll become screwed and messed up from them like me.
If anyone wants me, i'll be in the Angry Dome!!!

greetings, humanoids.
I need some music that is adventurous, and would be good for a game
like Medal of Honor or XIII.
Thanks,
looking forward to some great tracks.

General Discussion / Paint Shop Pro Query
Thu 20/10/2005 10:39:44
Hey people,
i have a bit of a technical problem with Paint Shop Pro 8.
During a war over control of the computer, my little sister pressed something or rather on PSP which hid one of the toolbars. That toolbar was incredibly crucial. The toolbar was the one where you select which shape to use when inputting a Preset Shape, or where you select which tube to use when selecting a Picture Tube.
I have searched and questioned and checked every single manual, but i cannot find how to get it back.
If anyone can help, it'd be appreciated.
Cheers,

Jack Thompson does not realise how many people play GTA etc. for the sole fun of doing something many players would never do, like holding up a Hardware store titled "Screw This", or driving an RC Red Baron, or obtaining a jetpack. I play GTA, i don't feel like going through a Police Station and torching everyone and anyone in there. Do you?
I play Leisure Suit Larry, and i don't-- err, anyway, the point is, some games are violent, yes, but gaming companies aren't evil monopolistic monsters. Well, they're monopolistic, but what company isn't? If Thompson's game is made, then doesn't he realise there is just as much chance that players may start killing game companies in real life?

Hey everyone,
As TerranRich covers movies, i thought i'd cover a few games that are coming in the next year. Enjoy!

ONIMUSHA: DAWN OF DREAMS
Yeah, another Onimusha Game! HEY, wait a minute! Didn't they say the the Onimusha series was a trilogy? Oh well, from the screenies it looks pretty cool, and this fourth game should live up to the last three Oni titles.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: THE LEGEND OF JACK SPARROW
Haha, DizzyDancer asked not too long ago 'Will anyone ever make a POTC game'?
Well, good news Dizzy, although no screenies have been released, it looks like it's shaping up to be a pretty cool pirate experience. Completely interactive levels, inwhich you can interact with pretty much everything in the level, from trees to building doors and shitloads more. Wicked.

TAXI DRIVER
Anyone who loved the movie, this picks up right after it. It's a pretty hardass action title, which should make musthave lists for fans of games that like The Getaway.

JAWS: UNLEASHED
Speaking of Movie-to-games, Jaws: Unleashed is looking pretty good.
In this game you play the shark, and have to escape humans like Marine Biologist Michael Brody, who wants to capture you for research. I can't wait to play it.

TEEN TITANS
Haha, this looks like any 6-10 year old's dream game!
Based on the Cartoon Network cartoon of the same name, you can play as each of the characters, and as far as i know inherit their powers.

THE GODFATHER
Another Movie-to-game! You relive the movie action, but create your own character (with advanced customisation tools of course) to play through as. You'll need to intimidate and slowly crawl your way to the top. Looking good!

BULLY
A lot of people have heard about it, but Bully from Rockstar is looking like a fantastic game! This is high school, boots 'n' all, with overthetop missions including a hell of a lot of head bustin'. All the usual highschool stuff is there, pulling pranks, getting the crap kicked out of you (and then some) and of course, escape from teachers. A great game from a great gaming company.

HITMAN: BLOOD MONEY
A new step in the incredible Hitman series, Hitman: Blood Money is looking like one fine game. Instead of the 'Kill for no good reason' routine, there is an intense plotline, and when you make hits, this time you get paid for them. The money you earn from hits will allow you to buy new weapons, armour etc. Looking good, definitely one to watch out for.

Well, there's plenty more fantastic games coming out next year, but hopefully this will keep your tastebuds tantilized for at least a while.

Cheers,
Fb.

Day 2
A breakfast of Pancakes and Maple syrup. Tasted pretty nice, especially with Pineapple on it. We headed to the Pools, where they have a wicked slide. Well , gotta go eat.

There's not a whole lot to criticize when we don't really know what you're going for.

Well, what i'm going for is pretty much what i got. Except, i reckon that its a little empty, like maybe something should go inside the black parts.
Anyway, keep them crits coming.

Yeah, i agree with the guys. Use a better program, and if you don't have one, download one. There are tons of great free Paint programs that are a lot better than MSPaint, or, why not fork out some cash for PaintShopPro? I'm sure you can get a pretty good version for a relatively small price (I got my copy of PaintShopPro8 at a garage sale, $30!).

Edit: Just realised you DO HAVE PaintShopPro!

Superstar Games will be there will be there, no worries. We have been doing mostly short arcade games for a while (ooh, that reminds me, i gotta post one of em' soon), but we have also been working on two other titles. Amatuer Valet, and Nuclear Army. There'll be some screenshots, a trailer and a promo vid.
