This is getting ridiculous. If they're going to hold a conversation in spanish just let them do it. Babel fish it if you're really desperate. I don't think that one post in another language is really a problem when the contents of the post are solely for the benefit of the spanish speaking community.

Although seeing subtitled posts is kind of funny.

SSH's idea of a church youth group is a really good one. They're generally pretty open and friendly and not really as scarey and converty as they can seem. Even if you're not interested in the churchy bit you can show up to saturday night activities and just bum around with a bunch of people. I dunno what it's like wherever you live, but here in Aus. Baptist and Uniting churches are usually the way to go to find youth groups.

Failing that, check a local uni's webpage for clubs. They usually don't mind people joining even if you're not part of the uni.

On your operating system thing, don't touch ME. Unless it's with a 10-ft pole that your using to rigorously beat the $#!+ out of it.

It's a wonderful little program. I swear it has voice recognition software installed. "Fatal Exception Error:- You haven't felt the need to swear at your computer for fully five minutes. Please restart."

Anyways... back to 3D modeling...

General Discussion / Re:The Matrices

Man... I love the way your spoiler glosses vaguely over the movie and then the rest of the post goes about explaining things in detail ;) And that colonel Sanders bit was hellarious. That's exactly who he was!

Back to Even's thing, I noticed a huge shift in style as well. The first movie was very much into exploring the ideas of the Matrix through the special effects, and the sequal was pretty much 'Hey, look what I can do!'

I still liked it. It was enough random action to keep me interested and there were some cool ideas. i think that's what I like most about the whole Matrix thing, they have a lot of cool ideas which they don't always express perfectly or succinctly, but are still good none the less.

The fight scenes were a little dissapointing because I watch martial arts movies a lot (Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Chow Yun Fat, so on and so forth) and the Matrix scenes seemed a little weak in comparison. You can tell that the actors weren't as skilled. And then they break into 'fancy' special effects to cover it.

--SPOILER--

What the hell was the architect saying? I understood most of it, but exactly why to they need to keep destroying Zion and The One and then building both of them again? How does having a group of rebels that no-one in the Matrix knows about keep everyone believing in the programmed reality?

And what about the ending? Do you reckon there might be levels to The Matrix? All Thirteenth-floor like?

I understand that people think some over analyse the films, but if they put 'philosophical' content in there then they have it coming. And it still interests me.

--End Spoiler--

The reason it doesn't all make sense is that it's not finished with yet. The movies don't seem continuous because in order to get all the information you need to experience every bit of Matrix story created. The prequel shown before 'Dreamcatcher' helps. The Matrix game fills in a lot of the plot holes in Reloaded (I think that's excessively cheap, making people buy the game to make sense of the movie... bastards...). The Animatrix fills in background details, like how the Matrix started and how it works etc.

So if you want continuity send all your money to the Wachowski bros. by buying Animatrix, Enter the Matrix, seeing Dreamcatcher, all three Matrix movies, reading the comics, reading the web comics and stories and then it will all fit together.

A good idea, but I don't have that much money to waste. I want to understand from the movies.

For future reference, can people please put warnings on things like this. Maybe something along the lines of 'Do not look at while at school and have people standing all around you' or something? :)

Although I worked out what it was pretty quickly. Before the zoom-out. Unfortunately I was just a little slow at closing the window.

Well... from my sources... Chris Livingston is either a football player, rally driver, a third rate musician or a scottish liberal democrat.

Or maybe some random web page owner that Sponge loves.

General Discussion / Re:What are you reading?

I've recently got back into comics, or 'Graphic Novels' if you want to seem more mature. I've been reading Usagi Yojimbo, and I've just started 'Lucifer', which is based on an idea by Neil Gaiman. I've also had a brief look at 'Sandman' by Gaiman.

I've just finished the Dirk Gently books by Douglas Adams. Quality stuff.

For you Robert Rankin readers, can anyone tell me the title of this book? It's about some machine that lets them make movies with dead actors, and there's a time machine and the main character isn't a real person. And every time you watch the big movie created with the machine thing the ending's different. And Hitler was in the book. And it was all crazy and exceptionally hard to explain.

It was great. And confusing. And twisted. And I want a copy, but I can't remember the title.

I'm a little worried about making a list, 'cause I haven't been keeping up eith releases and most of the games are probably out...

Ultimerr 2
Run Hot
Garfield
The Enchanted Lake
Nicholas Wolfe (shhhh... It hasn't been cancelled... let me live in my dream world...)
Rode Kill 2
The House at Chimney Rock (lalalalala... I'm not listening...)
Something from Dorcan
Castle Quest
El Burro
Pezzo Bertrum and the Band that Won't Die

Unfortunately only two or three of the games will ever see the light of day. :(

I'm sure it's still going to be good, it's just that... well... I was hoping for a similar game... Full Throttle was awesome, and turning it into an action game is just... wrong. I'm not saying they can't change it, what the hell would be the point of a sequal if there aren't any new ideas, but still...

Ah well. I'm sure I'll still buy it. And they can't have butchered it too badly.

I was just reading through the FT2 webpage (http://lucasarts.com/products/hellonwheels/default.htm) and I'm getting kind of worried. There's a whole lot of action mentioned and only the occasional bit of adventure.

Are they turning it into and Indiana Jones-esque game? Frequent action and push-pull puzzles?  :'(

Is it in the shape of his head? That'd be pretty cool...

I love Ernie Dingo. Time was if there was a movie featuring an aborigine it was him. Quality.

He got to bum around with Hogan in Croc Dundee 2. How could you ask for anything more?

And in Chinese your address goes country-state-city-suburb-street-number, in reverse order to ours. Whee. I actually learned something in my Chinese class. Too bad it won't actually help me pass the test :-\

It all comes down to your skills, however. There is nothing that can be done in Photoshop with filters that couldn't be done in Paint if you were a freaking psycho art god who had twenty spare years on his hands. My almost point is that there isn't a program that will magically make your backgrounds look good.

There is, however, Instagame :D

The only thing I can think of is that we have so many forums already... I must miss so much because I log on, come here to the general, occasionally skip accross to the chat forum, get annoyed at my connection and log off. I haven't been near the other forums for a while.

On the other hand, you pretty much know exactly what your downloading when you go to a forum, and if you don't want to see pictures mixed in amongst your discussions you don't have to.

I'm not really sure if there was a point in there somewhere or not.

My computer locks up completely whenever I try to run this game :( It works fine until I click on a dialogue option, and then freezes, not even responding to ctrl-alt-del. I've had problems with the computer freezing in the past, but they stopped when I changed the soundcard options to default wave out. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,
Punch
