In fact they all seem to be saying something  :=:

Scarab... you need to work on your Draconic Lip Reading. The Dragon is clearly saying

You guys really made it tough on me! I chose Urkel because I think more than any other sprite he was more of a representation of the essence of Urkel than JUST a sprite version of the character.  Dr. Cox took second place because he threatened to skull fuck me, if I didn't, and also the amount of accuracy and eerie detail was pretty impressive. Lastly, I was torn between Marty, Betty, Han and Clint; ultimately I weighed out: How recognizable was the character, how practical is the character, how detailed/well made was the character, how visually appealing was the character. Han Solo feels a bit muddled to me and Dirty Harry (while made awesome) wasn't instantly recognizable. Marty and Betty was tough. I REALLY REALLY like what Prog did with the sprite (and that Mock-Up is TEH AWESOME) but ultimately I kept thinking about the style used for Betty; it's all at once, simple, complex, intriguing, beautiful and descriptive. Betty was recognizable and would be easy to implement in a game. I finally settled that Betty seemed more like a Cameo where-as Marty felt like a Star.

So there you have it AGS! Your winners!   I've been a bit busy lately, so- hopefully I'll be able to whip up some awards.... not sure what they would be made of, though...

@Questionable
Don't you think, that game would be way too easy? Why avoid them if you can shoot them ;)

For some reason what I have in my head as the perfect platformer has the crazy jumping fun of N (http://www.addictinggames.com/ngame.html)
The super fast game play of sonic (in the good ones you had to think FAST and move FAST in order to get top scores)
& RPG elements and non-linear game play

The reason that I mention Contra (or Metal Slug or Gunstar Heroes) is because they were pretty hard (when I was a kid at least) and they were straight up badass. There's nothing cooler than blowing shit up in order to reveal an alternate pathways, or firing machine guns NON STOP...  But I also thought they weren't as fun as regular platformers mostly because of the stupid gun system. I would rather play an FPS if I want to blast shit to hell... But the fact that they involved guns and kicking ass instead of a plumber eating 'shrooms or a bandicoot eating peaches or a hedgehog eating rings...

BTW, I didn't mean that you would avoid enemies, necessarily. I imagine a really difficult acrobatic style platformer DRIPPING with baddies that if you ignore will ultimate deplete your life. You might be able to ignore them for awhile but they'll get you... or weaken you enough that a boss will STOMP you.  So you would need to take care of them someway... but also the game is fast paced, acrobatic, non-linear, with puzzles, RPG elements and a few storytelling cut-scenes...

Then again, what I imagine isn't always what other people seem to be interested in... but that just sounds supremely badass to me.

Other than that, I usually put in whatever combination of the following I have:
lettuce, cucumbers (especially pickles), tomatos, onions (if I don´t plan to be meeting up with anyone immediately after :D), mushrooms, olives
sausages, salami, roast beef
pepper, basil, oregano.

Simply naming every ingredient at Subway doesn't count as offering a sandwich, n00b.

I don't eat crazy sandwiches. But I like them. My favorite is:

I had an old WinME PC that wasn't what it used to be, I tried XP but it was slow as HELL, tried a couple Linux Distros and settled on one that I liked. Never had problems with drivers (except setting up my scanner) and most of the stuff that I was planning on using that I wasn't able to run using WINE (or something else) typically had a free and more modern alternative. I understand that you're familiar with it but keep it in mind, especially if it's not going to be your primary PC.

@Oliwerko; my comment was valid. I didn't feel that it was pertinent to comment on why his installation wasn't working but I did feel that there was potential to completely resolve the issue by resorting to a solution outside of the perceived box. I appreciate that you're trying to help him figure out how to install windows, please appreciate that I'm just trying to help him get his (apparently low power) PC working.  ;)

@Grim; Now, I have to admit it's been a long time since I've installed windows (especially 98/ME) but if I am not mistaken, when you reinsert the CD and restart the PC (and gotten the black screen...) there should be an option to repair, if you do this it should be able to tell you whether or not it recognizes a windows install. If so far I'm recalling correctly, this would reveal if there was an issue with the installation itself or not, and if you know for a fact that these CD's do work and a windows installation is not detected wouldn't we have to assume that there is an issue with the hard-drive?
As a side note, the last time I installed Windows was when I built a PC for a friend of mine. I was installing Windows XP and everything was going fine, then came the time to restart. The ASUS splash appeared, Windows XP appeared and then when the WinXP login screen was set to appear the screen went mostly black with some green/yellow/red lines across the screen. I messed around in BIOS and tried re-installing but kept getting the same result. I took every component out (except the CPU) and put it all back in making sure that everything was properly connected and seated. Started the PC back up and it worked fine. I suspect it had to do with something improperly seated (I assume the GPU) but I really have no idea why it wasn't working or started working... but it might be worth a shot.

I imagined crazy awesome jumping, but the platforms are spaced out so that you can barely make it and you have to aim well in order to grab a ledge, or you have to wall jump off several platforms.

Well, I'm thinking about a noir game and she will be the femme fatale in it. I am trying for the sexy, seductive look, so yeah, I'm all for point systems.  :=

First Calin, now you... seems like everyone will have a noir game before I finish mine.

P.S.  I love it, then!

P.P.S. You're animation, BTW; not my failing as a man...

1.) Go into BIOS and make sure that it is set to boot off of your CD/DVD Drive
2.) Make sure your "Ubuntu Live" or "Linux Mint" CD is properly inserted into the CD-Drive
3.) Turn on computer. Computer will boot into OS from CD.
4.) On the desktop click "Install" and follow dialog boxes!

You're done! You've got a low-power free, flexible OS up and running! Enjoy!

I don't think that the bobbing of the head looks awful, but I think it need a bit of sway/torsion. The way that she's walking is only how someone would walk if they wanted to walk like that, and the reason that I say that is that her legs move too close together, her arms don't swing and the body roll is very controlled. It's a calculated walk, the walk someone would walk if they want to appear seductive, that doesn't mean it's a bad walk.

I would imagine this in scenarios such as:

A girl on a runway/catwalk
A girl coming to bed in some lingerie being coy with her mate
A girl at a club/bar trying to get attention (better tips!)

Currently, I'm in the process of animating a woman with a natural grace about her, I want her to walk sexy (though not overtly) and I keep hitting walls... too seductive, too calculated, too plain, too caricature.

I think you might be right about a few more frames but sometimes when you add details the stuttering disappears (sometimes it exacerbates the stuttering, however.)  Overall I give it an 8/10 depending on what you were going for, if this is her running from a monster you only get 4/10 if this is her trying to be sexy you get a 9/10!

YAY FOR POINT SYSTEMS!
