Messages - Questionable

#41
Voting Time!  Here are the criteria for voting.

Idea - How strong and original is the concept? Is it a good response to the contest topic?
Technique - How well executed is the background as a piece of art within the chosen style?
Usefulness - How well would it work as an adventure game background, and how useful would the background be in a game?

RESERVED FOR EDIT!

I have ANOTHER idea that would be cool...

Your's > < Mine

So I pumped up his chest to eliminate the appearance of breasts.

I eliminated pixels that were redundant, that's more of a personal thing as they didn't really effect the image quality.

I elongated the length of gait by adding two frames, I just copied the "down" keyframe (when he bobs downward) and duplicated it once immediately following the left and right down keyframes. It makes his walk appear less frenetic/frantic.

P.S. it appears as if some of the pixels I eliminated actually defined his pockets, which his hands are in (which explains the arm swinging, as we discussed) you can decide what to do about that. If you can define for the player that he walks with his hands in his pockets it will make visual sense but if we don't have that context it feel odd. It's all in how you set up the character to us!

Reps would be appreciated...

I never could wrap my head around 3D programs very well. Z-Brush, Maya, 3D Studio, Blender; I'm trying, but I guess my brain just isn't used to working like that.

As the blind man said "We shall see."

Yeah, saw it before. It does look very interesting, but the actual content making and after that physics might have some issues.

I can see physics being a problem but I don't think the actual content creation would be difficult. In some of their other videos they've stated that you can import polygon models or you can edit on a point/pixel basis. SO you can continue to develop 3D like you typically do, then import it into whatever the heck and fine tune it on a point-by-point basis, or you can extrude/paint point-by-point from scratch.

I think interactivity and kinetics might be difficult (notice how the water doesn't move...)

I remember in a Quantum Science class we were presented with an odd idea. How do you know that what's behind you back exists? Maybe it's there in terms of matter but is it there in terms or color or space, or is it even there at all if we're not interacting with it?  You need to be high to really understand what the teacher was getting at but by rending in realtime only what needs to be seen I can understand how they are minimizing the power of GPUs, if rendering polygons isn't a big issue then, those massively powerful GPUs can focus on rendering the other parts of games or maybe focus more on parallel processing.

Interesting concepts but I agree; we shall see.

You really should start using Bryce, it's probably one of the most accessible 3D Generators available; especially for landscapes and simple geometry.

Jesus never wrote anything down either but people quote him all the time.

I never thought of this before... how awesome would it be if we found his Diary! lol

I prefer Aristocraces... They're eL337.

Dual, you basically said that you're a pedo...

Anyways- even if the panel gives you a low rating there is also the community rating... I'm sure McDonalds woulds get a Michelin star (Critic Review) but they probably rate pretty high in the Zagat review (Populist Review.)

What's with the A-Cup breasts, then?

I think Socrates is fabricated! A myth to help rationalize silly logic! He, like Jesus, never existed...

Has anybody seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-ATtrImCx4

Pretty interesting...

Trigger Happy Entertainment = Paint Splatter?  I think you've missed an opportunity for extreme awesomeness...

The leg animation is pretty good, but his arms don't move enough, it feels as if he's bobbing up and down out-of-sync with his walk and I feel like it's a bit fast, that's probably just opinion, though.

P.S. is this a guy or a girl?

Because pixel hunting is so much fun when you're doing it with your fingers.  ;D

Most Android phones offer alternative input methods; scroll/trackball, D-Pad, optical pad, hardware keyboard and telekinesis.
