I know that there is a perspective issue, but I don't know how to fix it :-\

It looks like you going for an angle with a single vanishing point which is the simplest type of perspective drawing so a good place to begin.  Try searching online for "1 point perspective drawing tutorial" and you should be able to find something that teaches the basics.

I also thought that was a theater stage!
The person is on the balcony and look down on the stage!

Ditto.

I do think a player character should have an up and down walk-cycle but it's probably a good idea to finalize his design first anyway.  I think he's distinctive and interesting but I'm not sure if my read on him is what you are trying to convey.  To me his posture and face suggest an older person, maybe a grizzled old farmer.  Does this bedroom belong to him?  They don't seem to go together.

The bedroom has some perspective issues that are particularly apparent in the centre of the room where the desk and bed overlap.  The desk and computer look a little large with respect to the bed also. Otherwise I think it's a good first effort.

Well I like that one too.   And mine should be easy also.  I even screwed up and left the subtitles on while taking my screenshot providing an extra clue in a montage song lyric.

11 Oct 2015 Update

The scripting is progressing along nicely now and I'm aiming to have a build that is playable from beginning to end by the end of October.

Meanwhile on the days when I'm not in a programming zone I'll take another pass at some of the background art.  I'm slowly starting to learn what I can get away with without fully modelling and one of these days I'll take the time to learn to draw a tree.

Here is a location as it appears during day and night:

And some character animations:

The Prisoner

A potential ally?  (So much trial and error in getting the cloth simulation for her cape.)

And everybody's favourite: Rover - The Village watchdog that apprehends escaping prisoners...

...and incapacitates them.

Looking good.  The voice acting is so much better than the temp tracks that you had during the Mittens demo.

Yes Sydney looks to be pretty moderate year round but other areas less so.  The months I specified look good for most areas.

Plus I prefer to spend my summers at home and do my travelling abroad during the colder local months.

I'm keen for Australia next year.  I don't have a preference for location as I'm sure I'll spend an extra week or two after Mittens to see more of the continent.  Timing is more important to me as I'd prefer to avoid the peak temperatures.  I think March/April or October/November would be my preferred timing.

Okay, if LimpingFish doesn't want to claim it I'll go.

Should be an easy one:
