Well in that case I'd like to suggest adding that for future versions of AGS.  Am I the only one who would find this useful?
#722
Is there a way to set that a character ignores specific walk-behind areas rather than all/none?
#723
Well as I understand it the ALIGN_LEFT, CENTRE, RIGHT only applies to the bottom left, centre, or right pixels of a sprite but I'm looking for something that would allow you to select any pixel.  Additionally when you use flipped frames in a view and say ALIGN_LEFT does that mean the handle is the left pixel of the flipped frame or the original frame?

If it saves bandwidth to start a new thread then start a new thread but otherwise I'd say let the old one ride.  Why kill a thread just because its popular?
#725
Right...I remember that thread now.  Okay what about the handle question, then?
#726
Is there any way to script a change in a character's scaling without using walkable area scaling?  Something like character[CHARID].scale?

Is there a way to specify which of the sprite's coordinates act as the handle?

shbaz:   I like your idea about kicking the opponent while he's down to finish him off.  I've  worked on improving the opponent's logic so that he blocks the area of his body that the player is attacking most and punches the area of the player's body that the player is blocking least.  I think I have the advance/retreat logic working fairly well now too. Still needs to be worked out for timing issues though.

You could use a semi-transparent object with the mirror imperfections on it.

What would you do differently about the character turning?

Yeah there isn't anyway to actually win currently.  Since the opponent will get back up.  I'm not sure why the player would lose points for walking into him.  I'll look into that.  I'm still tweaking the values of punch strength, recovery time, and speeds.  What I'm most interested in now is getting the opponent player to fight in a logical manner.

I've updated the file.  The player can now block his head and body using keys s, and a, respectively.  I've also update the sprites so that the fighters are not identical.

I realize this is not the greatest way to share files and if someone recommends a better way I will implement it.

General Discussion / fighter game <updated>

I've been working on a template for fight sequences within my game.  Its currently working to the point where I have trouble even beating the computer opponent but there is certainly room for improvement.  Would anyone mind downloading the game and giving me some feedback for how to improve it? It would be much appreciated.   The source code is included for anyone who is interested.

The game is controlled with the keyboard using the cursor keys to move, space bar to change directions, and f & d for attacks 1 & 2 respectively.

Scummbuddy touched upon what I wanted to say with the comment of an "egotistical"  god.

Isn't Vanity one of the deadly sins?  And Blasphemy is against one of the 10 Commandents.  It seems rather vain to me that God would establish laws to protect his own image.

In fact, tons of christians adamantly tell me that atheism is a religion, because even though it doesn't have a god, it does rely heavily on some unproven concepts to disprove christianity.

Is this what makes something a religion:  Believing what can not be proven?

Ginny: I'm glad my story idea stimulated you.  I have a few scenarios in mind for multiple endings.  Only one is really dark, although the others aren't falsely happy either.

Alky: I like your central theme. My thoughts though are that conscience and logic are resources that a mind relies on.  Alyssa and Raissa strike me as antagonists that are not reliable so that decision making becomes the choice between 2 evils.  Perhaps thats your point.

Do you mean Pi (ie 3.1415926...),  perhaps?
#736
Well I'd still definitely take a look.  Its just an initial reservation.

I don't mean to be a pain the ass.  I just think that films as recent as 1990 could be considered a classic.  Plus what's this "Old Hollywood", "New Hollywood"?  Since when do Classic films have to come out of Hollywood?

No, no, CJ is the bartender and he's like the nicest most understanding guy ever.  Someone else should summon Helm and Cleks in times of idiocy.

I don't think Helm really needs to be summoned.  He's more like a Deus ex Machina that just knows when he is needed.  Still I think the whole AGS community as a sitcom is a little egotistical.

I read your post.  When the thread was about B&W films I could understand that because its a fairly concrete criteria and there is good reason to single out B&W vs. Colour because they each have unique strengths.  Pre-1960 vs. post-1960 just seems arbitrary.  But then I suppose the 1960 isn't a firm cutoff since you allow 61's Breakfast at Tiffany's.  So if 61's cool, I'm gonna offer 62's Lawrence of Arabia as another of my all time favourite Classic films.

Oh... in that case I also like Vertigo.
