In game design, would it be safe to assume that everybody nowadays has a scroll wheel on their mouse?
No, absolutely not.

It's good to support it; it's bad to make your game unplayable without a scroll wheel.

I just started playing the game and I think there might be a bug.
Yep, that's basically the same bug. What's happening is that the "never mind" option falls off the bottom of the dialog GUI. Thanks for noticing, will fix.

I know a chick who kinda sounds like Jodie Foster if that's what you're looking for?
Sure, feel free to send her along.

Hi, I'm an 18 year old female and I'd be very interested in voice acting for your game!
Very nice, thanks for your interest! Please pick your favorite character, find three lines you like and record them. It's easiest if you upload them somewhere and send me a PM about it. OGG format is preferred, although MP3 will also work. You're welcome to audition for multiple characters if you like.

I know the game has enough male voice actors but I will go ahead and offer my services. My regular voice is deep and I can do a number of other voices.
Thank you for your offer. Could you please pick a character you like, record three sample lines, and PM them to me? You're welcome to do audition for multiple characters if you want.

To the other voice actors so far: thank you for volunteering to help! Unfortunately we don't have enough female submissions yet to actually make a voice pack. So if you have friends or family who are willing to help, please refer them to us.

Firefly / Serenity would make a good, sandbox setting.
I totally agree. Not so coincidentally, Firefly is one of the inspirations for Quasar.

Wow, I'm surprised by the sheer variety between all the contest entries. Well done, everyone!

OROW ENDS IN 3 HOURS. Any entries won't be accepted afterwards.

Okay. Could you please confirm which entries you've received so far, just to make sure nobody's made a mistake when submitting their hard work?

So, how many games were submitted?

As near as I can tell from this thread,

Wyz, AJA, pmartin, hofmeier, Chicky, ShiverMeSideways, Ponch, ddq, tzachs, and myself. That makes it a nice and round 10 games.

Ah, glad to see the forums are back. Okay, I've made my submission too. That was one busy week.

Quotealthough Sierra never did.

This is weird because I'm usually one of Sierra's tougher critics but I have to disagree.  Gabriel Knight 1 had an AWESOME soundtrack and I remember the main theme AS FONDLY as Monkey Island,

I was talking about PC Speaker music. Gabriel Knight has Sound Blaster music. That's not the same medium.

I didn't mean the first - you already have that or you wouldn't have come this far.

The second is not an item.

And yes, this will get better in-game hints in the full release.

Search the engine room for a useful item.

This is really old, but Future Wars is the best music I've ever heard on a PC speaker.

Sure, it hardly compares to the polychronic Sound Blaster 256 stuff we have now, but for the most common medium at that time, I found it pretty impressive. Also, certain LucasArts games come close to this (particularly TSOMI), although Sierra never did.

I would like your view/opinion on positioned GUI game interaction panel..
Assuming it's for that game M0ds mentioned - the control panel for a plane belongs at the bottom of the screen, not the top. Furthermore, if the only point of the GUI is to instruct the player which keys to press, then it should disappear after the tutorial. It's a waste of real estate to continuously display instructions like "press B for bomb" when the player already knows that.

I think I found a bug in the game. At some point later in the game, after you get him out of the locked room, karst disappears.
Okay, I think he's simply standing inside (behind) the Tesla coil, and since his movement is random he is just unlikely to come out. I'll fix this for the next version.

I got the attachment, thanks.

Can you reproduce this and/or send me a saved game?

Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

I played the beta and like the characters and the premise so far. However, I seem to have found a small bug :
Well spotted, I'll have this fixed for the next release. Incidentally, you don't actually need to do this to complete the game.

High resolution ? It's 640x400 and you call it high res ?
The "change resolution" menu in AGS calls this high res, yes. The default resolution is 320x200, after all.

Also, question for you folks: I've gotten several offers for voice actors, but all of them so far are male. So to get Azure, Callisto, and Julie cast as well, does anyone have a suggestion on where to find more (female) voice actors?

If games can be of any genre, i.e. not just adventure games, how would they be scored on "puzzles"?

Are there try-outs for character portraits? I'm not too good with colors, but I am interested!
Thank you! Well, that's easy enough, just pick your favorite character and make a sketch, and PM it to me for a try-out.

Sorry, I don't understand you.  ???
Eversion is basically Super Mario Bros as if it were designed by H.P.Lovecraft. Google it, it's certainly worth playing.
