The simple solution is stop using Internet Explorer.
This, oh so very much.

After I pre-ordered Gemini Rue [can't wait to play that one] , I'd like to
see your TOP 5 of favorite commercial AGS games
Are there even five commercial AGS games? :P

Seriously though, there are so many free AGS games that I haven't played yet, that I'm unlikely to get to the commercial ones soon. Hm, top X? Not counting "deluxe" editions of normally-free games... I'd probably buy Puzzlebots because Nanobots was hilarious. I've been meaning to give Blackwell a shot but haven't gotten around to it. I've played the demo of that AGDI Wild West game but it didn't appeal to me. I'd be hard-pressed to name a fourth commercial AGS game, really.

...oh wait, Fatman. I've heard it was good, never got around to playing that, either. I need more free time :)

what would be a feature you have always wanted to see in an adventure game, but have rarely/never encountered (yet)?
A feature that is regrettably under-used, in my opinion, is true character switching. The best example of this is the classic Maniac Mansion.

I find the most time-consuming part of importing translations is having to install various fonts to make room for all the accented letters. Also, while it's easy to find a volunteer for a translation, it's somewhat less easy to find one who'll produce good quality and finish the job. I'd say you need to be a native or near-native speaker to translate a game to that language.

(1) story, puzzles, music
(2) story, puzzles, music
(3) pixelhunts, unskippable cutscenes, and poor interface
(4) neither
(5) there are no excuses for not enabling both

I think translating their games designers will reach a wider audience.

Any toughs on this?

Yes, I agree.

Now that you guys talk about it I think I remember every other door being locked.

I don't think that's the case, considering one of the canonical endings is feeding the meteor to the man-eating plant in the attic...

"Can you pick up the meteor, climb into the drained pool and then fill the pool with the kid and the meteor down there?"
No, and precisely because you can't switch characters at that point.

However, you can get to the pool: if you start the Edsel without the meteor in it, then that will open the gate to the pool as well.

TO THAT I ask, what if you microwave the radioactive water and leave it in there, grab the meteor, head for the kitchen and then open the microwave...
That certainly won't kill a meteor. It might actually kill you, though, I'm not convinced that wearing a rad suit is an exception here. I do believe that the house will detonate if you die while wearing the rad suit.

Heh. I had an idea for that once, with a working title of "Normality On The Real" and the character of Jonny Davis. Nothing much came of that, though.

As a customer who intends to purchase things via PayPal I'd say it's safe as bananas.

You mean like this? :P

Technically, they're secure. Ethically, less so.

I still reckon The Netherlands (which was tied with Italy for a while for the last Mittens) would be a decent option.

You rang?

Any other recommendations?

Planescape: Torment. Not AGS, but one of the best written and engaging games ever.

Dark City.

Butterfly Effect.

Dogville.

So what, it took like about 2 posts before people started suggesting heavy, death and whatever metal and similar spawns?

Or is it possible to write scripts for shooting, jumping, etc. in AGS? I haven't been able to actually figure that out... :P

Arcade Game Studio can certainly handle that. I'll probably go write a sample some day: the world needs more Metroidvanias.

Yes, that was me on both accounts. Vector Vendetta is in my sig and is the first AGS game with zero sprites. Lenny the Labrat is a draft of an Incredible Machine clone, also on my website; it's primarily a proof of concept, and put on indefinite hold in favor of other projects.
