As far as I know, TigSource is a gaming news site. What about it?
It is somewhat more than that, and has some overlap with the kind of site you intend to create. So I would suggest looking over their site and forum and seeing what it's like, as a source of inspiration.

Overall I think your idea is a good one; the trick is getting enough "critical mass" in the community to get it to work.

Have you heard of TigSource?

Nah, doesn't really seem to be an issue at all. I was really more curious of what the forum goers thought than anything else.
This is, however, hilarious when it comes to Big Issue Votes on the internet, like when a big company wants the 'net at large to vote on their new logo, or slogan, or song. All too frequently they forget to ward against vote stacking or sockpuppetry, leading to something utterly ridiculous being voted the winner.

I think there was a British municipality somewhere that wanted a new flag, so some jokester designed something like a polka-dotted one with a "horns" symbol, got his forum friends to vote, and won...

Screensavers neither have to be called .SCR, nor do they have to be in the screensaver folder or in the remove programs dialog (although it's pretty nasty if they don't).

Try googling for removing the screensaver with its name.

Failing that, use any program that removes adware, spyware, or other malware.

Hm, I was there last year but spent most of my time on the beach, so I don't really have any city highlights for you.

Except the hop-on-hop-off bustour, which I heartily recommend.

AGS Games in Production / Re: ∞ Bit

I get about 4 fps. Perhaps you could improve performance a bit? A retro game could likely be made to work on low-end systems too.

I'm not a fan. The signal-to-noise ratio is too low.

In Broken Sword, when you have to get out of the Hotel with the pergamin, but the gangsters outside will kill you if you do it. The solution was pretty logic, but after you have being killed.

Oh, there's worse examples, like the bobby pin in the meatloaf in Larry 2. You need the pin, and the only way to discover it's there is by eating the loaf, which kills you. And if you take the pin out, you get a remark like "you wonder if anyone was stupid enough to eat that"...

Hm, I'm tempted to create a game called Zero Core, which will indeed have less colors than the original...

What I'm saying is that if you make a list of ten random Pokemon, mixing five old ones and five new ones, then I will surely not be able to reliably pick the five old ones out of the list,  (except if they're iconics like Pikachu, of course), and I suspect neither will anyone else who hasn't played the games extensively.

There will soon be over 500 pokémon, and the artist's imagination peaked in the 3rd generation. Why don't you see for yourself. They aren't a patch on the originals.

I fail to see how these are better or worse than the originals, really.

See also the Interface Hall Of Shame. Much of what they say does apply to adventure games, too.

They've got a countdown set to a few days from now. I guess they have something to tell us about that cease-and-desist order they got last month?

Sure. Pretty much everyone does; that's known as the Fundamental Attribution Error.

Ironically, "life is a bitch" seems to me like precisely the opinion of people with no direction in their lives.

Ah, got it. When writing a demo file, if writing more than 150000 values to the file, AGS will conclude this is an infinite loop and abort. This also explains why Nikolas's and Wonkyth's demo are the exact same size (they're cut off at 150000) and why reading them back fails (they're incompletely written). D'oh.

I'll release an update with noloopcheck asap.

(edit) regarding the other bug - does this occur at the very beginning of a level, or during a level?

3. At that time, there was no offer to save the replay. Is the replay available at every time, or only at advanced levels?
At every level.

The play recording is broken for some reason.
Please elaborate?

Different strategy I guess, but maybe your score might be a sign that mine is not 'the right' one.
My intent is that there is no "right" order, it depends on your playstyle. For instance, I tend to go RETRO => TURBO => SPREAD, myself. Also, I find that it helps to have WARP available when fighting the UAO.

I'll see what I can do about those bugs. With line numbers they should be easy to fix.
