To my knowledge, AGS supports characters 32 through 127 from the SCI fonts, and excluding the '[' character which is used as a line break. I tried at one point to use 1-32 for accented letters, but that didn't actually work.

I probably wouldn't notice any of those things, and wouldn't care if I did.

Er, is it a joke that every game's summary recommends to instead vote for what I assume is your personal favorite? Or is that a mistake of some sort?

When going for retro, do hardcore retro. I coded most of ATOTK on a 400 MHz machine, and the only marginally noticeable slowdown is when I invoke too many transparent overlays. So yep :)

But I suppose I'll keep the 3dfx around, just in case.

General Discussion / Graphics card problem
Thu 15/11/2007 12:39:56
Well, I just got a new (ish) graphics card, a NVidia GeForce 4 MX 440, to replace my much older 3dFX card, and downloaded the drivers from the nvidia website.

However, with this new card, NO game that runs in full-screen mode will work, and DXDiag reports that Direct3D acceleration is "not available" (and the button to "enable" it is grayened out).

Does anyone recognize such a problem and have suggestions? I'm running W2K in case it makes a difference.

O.K. I'll do that instead but is it O.K. to keep my seal it's up to you

Well, certainly you can keep the seal, but it does make you look rather silly. Generally, such seals are given by a respected authority in order to actually mean anything. You are just saying "hey, I'm me and I endorse my own message".

I've updated the walkthrough per the above suggestions. Thanks!

Yes. There is a spotlight plugin, for one.

Another thing you can do is create a GUI that's completely black but has a transparent hole in it, and use repeatedly_execute_always to move that hole over the mouse cursor.

Er, "seal of quality"? :)

Also, "your studio (c) 200x yourself" doesn't really make sense. You're overdoing it.

Here's my unofficial walkthrough with hints for people who are stuck and so forth.

I must say it's hard to imagine a strip club scene without naked people.

Well, yes, but is there a functional reason why the game plays in a strip club as opposed to a regular disco, or is that just to draw attention to the game?

Also, depending on what you want, you can go a long way with implying nudity without actually showing it, either in a serious way (silhouettes and so forth) or by parodying it (think about the opening scene to Austin Powers 2).

That's not a bug, you can roll under that once you have the Roll upgrade.
#3095
Does anyone know the default values for SetSoundVolume and SetMusicMasterVolume?

Hah! Completed the Master Challenge!

And I got a T rank on the first two scenarios, and four costumes by now.  ;D

Loot is score. It kind of says so in the tutorial.

imho -

Spoiler

The +25% loot is useless, because there isn't any scenario where picking up enough loot is actually the problem, and nearly every scenario has a different goal than loot. The only place where it might matter is the city scene, but in there you're better off with lockpick/3 and roll, which actually makes loot accessible.

I stand corrected, I believe the loot bonus is actually necessary to get top ranks for looting.

Also, the improved safecracking is not necessary, because safes aren't hard to crack, and the improved wirecutting is not necessary because you can just write down which wire you need. They're not random, they're set by scenario.

You are making the game a lot harder by not taking lock pick/2 and roll as early as possible. Sidle is also nice.

The brainwash scene is annoyingly RSI-inducing, but you can pass it by simply tapping both keys rapidly.

I -think- that RP works like the Indy Quotient. In that case there is a finite amount of it available, and you'll never get enough of it to learn all the upgrades. So I think I'm going to replay to get that shadow power...

I wonder if you can still get back into it once the game is officially over, just to work on those high scores...

Yes, although the game doesn't tell you which scenarios you scored max points on.

Beware that you can make things very difficult for yourself by picking the wrong skills early on.

(edit) Game completed, yay!

It is a cool game, indeed. Also, challenging.
