No. Indiana Jones is trademarked, the stories are copyrighted, and so are the games and associated graphics. Until those copyrights expire (which would be at least sixty years in the future) what you are doing is a violation of copyright law, and definitely does not fall under "fair use" or any other loophole.

That is not to say you shouldn't, because odds are LucasArts won't notice you, but don't think it is simply "ok".

Yes, I play a lot of those. I particularly like anything strategic that does not involve dice.

The names are based on Greek, Latin, and Norse roots, with the spellings changed slightly so as not to make them too obvious.
Perhaps you've overdone the slight changes a bit.

QuoteCan you think of any Greek, Latin, or Norse word that these words resemble?
Frankly, no.

EDIT:  If you don't know Greek, Latin, or Norse, can you think of any English word that resembles Skefalia or Skeftist?
Not particularly. Skeleton? Screw? Scientist? Skittish? Skates?

Try setting your screen's color depth to match the game's color depth. I had a similar problem in the past and this helped. Also, run DXDIAG to check if your DirectX is fully functional.

Keep geyying a message that the shield needs repairs by the blacksmith

That's probably the wrong shield. Try the one on the ground.

If you come back to the ship later, it'll be lying on the bed.

If people can make themselves understood, does it matter if they are gramatically correct or not?

Yes, because encouraging sloth and sloppiness in the Future of the Nation is never a good idea.

Well, I took the SAT tests once, and while I totally aced the math one (being rather mathematically minded) I scored solidly above average on the English one as well, getting a higher score than most of the people I met in Chicago college. So this news does not really surprise me.

Neat game, but spotted some bugs
Thanks. I fixed those.

The reuse of backgrounds and objects is hilarous.
In other news, I can't draw :P

BTW, is there a way to detect whether repeating music is playing?

Code: ags

int __rep
function SetMusicRep1 (int repeat) {
  SetMusicRepeat (repeat);
  __rep = repeat;
}

function IsMusicRepeating () {
  return __rep;
}

Good work!

Minor bug: the GUI that displays the name of items goes underneath (instead of on top of) the inventory GUI.
Minor issue: it looks slightly weird if, in a conversation, one side has a portrait and the other (for instance, the hotel owner) doesn't.

I meant that no matter how big peoples ambitions seem to be, they should be encouraged to go for it. I know that the advice to start small is well intentioned, but I feel this is discouraging people.
I don't think that is true for most people. Starting something small and succeeding is far more encouraging than starting something big and failing. Don't bite off more than you can chew.

Root of all Evil, a Reality-on-the-Norm game.

Today is Mika's birthday, and of course this is an excellent reason to throw a party. In a town like this, inviting all your friends is easy. There is just one thing missing...

Money. Parties can be expensive, and Mika is remarkably short on money. Still, it should be possible for an enterprising photographer to make some quick cash...

Featuring pirates, private eyes, archaeologists (well, not really), a fully functional camera, and of course a crazy homeless weirdo.

Download here.

In a bit of background information, there was this big thread a few months ago about how to revive RON, and comments about the current state of the collaborative city. At a certain point I realized I was taking the negative approach by criticizing, and decided to instead take the positive approach of writing a RON game myself. Of course, I had ATOTK to complete first. September's MAGS proved to be an excellent opportunity.

I realize I'm not a RON oldbie and I certainly haven't played every RON game (or even most; there's quite a lot of them). I suppose it's possible that this game breaks continuity, or does something inappropriate to some character. That is, of course, not my intent; if something like that is wrong, please let me know and I'll update the game accordingly.

All joking and Cuppits aside, I felt obliged to also make a serious entry for this month's competition. So hereby I present:

Root of all Evil, a Reality-on-the-Norm game.

Although the game features a pirate, a private eye, and an archaeologist, none of them are the main character. Since there have been very few RON games the last few years (the last one being in January) I feel the town has become an infrequently used location, that we haven't seen in a long time and that would be worth revisiting. Finally, the game has two innovative features: the AutoVerbing system, and a camera that actually works.

My memory is a bit hazy, but what was suppose to be funny at the end of KQIV.

Spoiler

When shot, Lolotte starts quoting the Wizard of Oz, then does a double-take and says "oops, wrong story".

But that would only count if he died, though.

"This is the kind of person we should forcefully enter into the Darwin Awards."

Kind of what he meant. I hope he does something similarly stupid to remove himself from the gene pool.
