Some things that would be nice...

In the sprite preview, a way to halt the animation and step one frame backward and forward.

Also in the sprite preview, a way to 'nudge' the current frame one pixel up/down/left/right, to make it easier to align animations properly. This could be done via SetFrameOffset, by scrolling/wrapping the graphic around (like it does in FontEdit) or by widening the sprite a bit.

In the sprite editor, it would be nice to be able to insert an empty spot in the middle (right click on any frame, select "insert before this one").

Also, it would be nice to be able to overwrite a loop or an entire frame with the content of another loop or frame - sort of like copy/paste.

Ayuh, probably uses from that version - it's only to be wondered why the author didn't decide to use the VGA version of Zak too, but that's up to him.

There is a VGA version of Zak?

I've played the hi-res version but have never heard of a VGA version.

I have a very classic bicycle.

Having more than one controllable character is actually easy in AGS. Simply create two characters and use the SetPlayerCharacter() function to switch between them. You can e.g. create a GUI button that does this.

Code: ags

if (GetPlayerCharacter () == EGO) SetPlayerCharacter (ALLY);
else SetPlayerCharacter (EGO);

There is some freeware music on the resources section of adventuregamestudio.co.uk; also, there is plenty if you google for free midis.

What I originally had in mind was free switching like Maniac Mansion, but doing it automatically would be fine as well, as it fits well with the spirit of "together". Having to choose a race or class like in an RPG doesn't really mean there are multiple characters working together, so that doesn't fit too well.

And it's officially december now. Good luck people! :)

Very cool, Ivy!

Oh yes, and regarding little fishes, this is funny.

Why doesn't your site take PNG graphics? Note that the 'screenshot' box looks like you could paste in an URL but that doesn't actually work. I had to register my games twice for this reason, hope that doesn't mess up the database.

What do those stars mean?

AGS syntax is based on the C programming language, in which you can extend a line to the next one by appending a backslash (which is mainly used for string concatenation and easier display of oneliners). It seems the syntax highlighter uses this part of C but the AGS interpreter does not.

How about if you accidentally bought the same book twice? Happened to me a bunch of times.

Got it. Sorry about that guys, like I said I was in a hurry (which is kind of ironic if the topic is time travel). I'll polish up and post a new version in a day or two.

It's time for the final exams at Warthogs Magic School, and notorious slacker Larry Lotter is about to flunk all of them because he spent less time studying and more time drinking beer. But there is yet hope! Using a spell to travel back in time, he gets the chance to do his day over again and pull some tricks to pass the exams anyway! And he has to, because it's his Destiny.

Join Rob Greasley, Calliope DeRanged and Professor Mumblemore in this short Harry Potter parody, loosely based on the greatly admired books by J.K. Rowling. Watch the other characters act and interact off their own accord, and spin time back and forth to interfere.

This game is admittedly a bit rushed to meet the deadline; I'll post a more polished version later this week.

Thanks to Fizzii for the background art, Meerbat for the portraits, and J.K. Rowling for the awesome series of books, of which I desperately await Part Seven.

That sounds pretty cool, and Germany is nearby :)

Creativity (and also, the required "focus" on a game) comes in bursts, so when it does you should take advantage of it. For a short game this is easy; in my experience it's very fun to make a game in a week, because you can see where you're going and see it develop quickly, and you can use that to hold on to creativity (e.g. META and Infinite Monkeys were both made in roughly a week). Creating big games is much more difficult to not lose touch of.

It's cool. Yes, I found a book once and passed it on. That was fun. I wanted to "launch" some books of my own but it was too much of a hassle to get the stickers because I don't have a color printer. So I brought them to a local charity instead.

You might be able to use PlayMidiSilent (sp) as a workaround?

We are entering. Give me a few hours to wrap it up and upload.

Well, it's kind of natural to type it in without the WWW. At least, that's what I usually do. Plus I use it in my signature because it gets over the size limit otherwise.
