Please add the below file to whatever resource pack that would host it. It contains a background and a bunch of sprites that are free for use. Sorry if it isn't much but I suppose every bit helps.

Do you want to design a game that gives the player more options?
Do you feel restricted by the Sierra-like four-button command interface?
Do you think that even the nine-button Lucasarts layout is not enough?

Then you should try the new MegaVerb GUI.

* Collapsible command bar allows for up to forty verbs and forty items
* Drag and drop to deposit the GUI in any screen corner
* Rearrange verbs and items on the GUI by dragging them around
* Use right mouse button as a shortcut for a 'default' verb
* Keyboard support both for selecting verbs and items
* Automatically generated standard responses
* Supports both 320x200 and 320x240 resolutions, tweakable for high res
* Comes with a free Cuppit

Download here (Requires AGS v2.72 RC 2a or higher)

From the twisted mind that brought you META...

Infinite Monkeys is a quirky adventure game involving elves, zombies, a chessboard, Mittens, a zoo, a flying city, a moonbase, a time machine, and numerous other odds and ends. In the midst of all this chaos, can you stop the evil villain's plans before new year?

This unique game was written for the fifth anniversary MAGS contest, that suggested you pick one out of any of the topics for the previous five years, by picking all listed topics at the same time. Hence, Infinite Monkeys follows every single rule posed in every single MAGS competition over the past five years. It also features an innovative interface that steps away from the low amount of verbs in adventure games, and of course monkeys!

Featuring a futuristic past with zombies, a flying city, elves, Mittens, a zoo, a supervillain, and time travel. If that didn't make sense to you, you must definitely play this game to find out.

Includes a German translation. Enjoy!

As in, dividing the 100/200 sprites between people
That's probably a good idea. Basically it looks pretty good as it is now, so anyone willing to improve ten or so sprites would be more than welcome. That shouldn't eat up too much time for any individual.

(I would have posted this in the recruitment thread except that this is not about an adventure game, and the games in question are already complete)

I'm looking for a sprite artist who is willing to touch up, clean up and otherwise improve the sprite sheet of two existing games, one puzzle game and one strategy game. The sheets in question consist of about a hundred sprites of around 32x32 pixels, none of which are animated, and most of which require only minor changes. Some of the sprites can be redrawn from scratch if you feel like it, but this isn't necessary. Help would be greatly appreciated.

More info about the games (SubTerra and Leylines)

If you want more information first, please don't hesitate to ask.

Defragging once a month is excessive, in my oppinion. Maybe twice a year. I really don't see that much of a marked improvement after defragging. Not in todays, computers, anyway. It's a good thing for your computer, but if you're doing it for speed, it's not going to boost performance enough to make much of a difference.

That is a good point. Like many efficiency issues, today's computing power makes the difference trivial for most average household and office users.

Okay, I've decided to also join this MAGS anniversary edition, and have asked Fizzii to do the graphics. It's probably ready for upload tomorrow.

The chosen ruleset is...

Spoiler

all of them!

Actually, if they would have you, I'd recommend Keenspot. It gives better exposure.

Defragging is always a good thing. You can even go for weekly if your hard drive is reasonably small or reasonably empty.

It doesn't really matter what program you use, it's all the same method with a bit of different heuristics thrown in. So I wouldn't pay money for it if I were you.

Game-wise, part of the fun of adventure gaming is exploring. So yes, to match with better sound and music, a game should allow multiple solutions to puzzles, multiple paths, preferably multiple endings even. Possibly multiple characters that react differently. And above all, have a lot of useful interactions even if they aren't strictly necessary.

A game that comes to mind is Origin's Savage Empire... it has massive amounts of usable objects and combinations. For instance, you can simply find torches and use them. Or, you can 1) break a branch of a tree; 2) get flax from a plant; 3) weave the flax into cloth; 4) cut cloth with scissors; 5) dip cloth strip in tar; and 6) tie tar strip around branch. You end up with a torch. The point is that you need not do it the convoluted way, but everything does work as expected.

Ironically, I think that on this front, we can take a leaf out of IF's book.

Also, has the question "does this even work?" been answered yet? You can have the most perfect system for getting people to ask for help but if no one is offering help than it still won't work.

I think the OYS system would work rather better (only it would help if it were sortable by skill as well as by date, and if people would edit/remove their posts if they no longer have time to help)

Please please someone help with the brew spell -  where do I find the brazier to light?
The brazier is right there in the lab. However, you must make the storm spell last - it requires an empty jar that (because of a bug) is only generated by another spell.

I suppose i have to get the little feather from the chickens. But i can't catch one :(
Keep trying; it seems there's a random chance of succeeding for this.

Where's the stone? I assume it's just on the ground on some screen. What screen is it on? It's for the teleport spell.
The oracle (who lives behind the spiderweb) gives it to you. You don't need it to finish the game.

I also have no idea, how many times Manannan goes on a Journey. For me there were only two Journeys, and one sleep in between, but after a sleep he isn't hungry so I was waiting quite some time until he was hungry again ..
He should journey as many times as you need him to, but eventually you will run out of food and he'll get angry and do one of his punishments, and if you get too many of those, you die.

Oh and the shovel is for treasure digging, which near as I can tell is a pixel hunt (after you've been told where the treasure is, of course).

I think being able to remove Cursors, Characters, Fonts, and things would be really cool.

Seconded. However, I have the feeling that several people don't even bother to remove the default Roger sprites from their game :)

Also, I'd like the game to put the three standard .WFN files is its directory, so that I can edit them easily with FontEdit.

Using google, you can find quite a bit of MIDIs that are in the public domain (meaning you can use them freely for anything) or under the Creative Commons license (meaning basically the same if you're not going to edit them)

Quotecould you please add an editor option somewhere to 'disable source comments'?
It's a possibility, but not really a priority. It'd be a relatively large amount of work for something that's really not that important, to be honest.

Ok :) I suppose I could locate the strings in the .EXE and replace them with blanks :)

The reason I don't like "Unique" is that I can see lots of people labelling their games "unique" because they think it sounds cool or because "my game's not like any other". Is there a better term for what we're after?

Hm, good point, although theoretically that could be solved by moderating the entries a bit (since when you review, you already have an option to say the game is in the wrong category).

Instead, how about this... create a single forum thread for suggesting new categories (probably no need to sticky it) and at the games.php, add a link saying "if you really can't fit your game anywhere, go to /this thread/"

Ok, here are the answers. Half a point if you get the series right, but not the actual game.

1. He who would seek the key to this door will undoubtedly make a splash.
King's Quest II, inscription on the first magical door. Most people had the series correctly, but not the game.

2. Hiden goseke.
Quest for Glory; it's the troll's password in the brigand cave. Nobody had this one right. It's not TSOMI, nor KQ.

3. How am I supposed to take over the world if I'm on a budget?
Dr. Fred from Maniac Mansion, in the cut scene when you turn the power off.   Many people answered Day of the Tentacle, which is close enough to me. Someone said Space Quest, making me wonder what character he was referring to.

4. How are you going to find the statue in all this junk?
First line of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. Someone pointed out it should be "how am I going...", but I've double-checked in the game itself and it's indeed "you" :)

5. I'm selling these fine leather jackets.
The quote originates in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, but has been used in most LucasArts games since then.

6. I'm sick of making up stupid stories! ( -- then make up stories that aren't stupid! )
.. Intro sequence from Zak McKracken.  A guess was MI2. Nobody knew this one either, even if it's nearly the first line in-game. I suppose I'm one of the few people that likes Zak a lot.

7. Ken sent me.
The hooker's password from Leisure Suit Larry. Bonus point to Thomas VoB who pointed out it's actually from Soft Porn Adventure. King's Quest was a nice guess considering Ken Williams's involvement, but unfortunately not correct.

8. Last leaf of the year.
Loom, likely the first words spoken after the intro. Almost everybody knew that. Go Loom!

9. See ya!
Standard Caponian greeting in Zak McKracken.

10. The wisdom of the Elders may not be questioned. That is the final Rule of Membership.
Loom, first lengthy cut scene, before Atropos turns Hetchell into a swan.

11. You must be mistaking me for somebody else, I am not a farmer.
Monkey Island, when Guybrush doesn't quite understand Captain Smirk's training. Again, King's Quest was a guess. Which is weird because most of those games involves have very little actual conversation.

12. Z jo jb! Lvoo sd fj?
The holographic alien in Space Quest I (assuming Roger forgot his translator device) Many guesses here, all of them wrong. Two people said TSOMI, one specifying the monkey at the beach (which goes 'ook ook ook eep eep'). One said Zork.

Anyway. The winner is Thomas Voss with 18 points. Congrats!
