Then I got past that and got annoyed and puzzled as to why the blue cup guy wanted me to change the name of the game but I can't actually do that in the general options.

He doesn't really want you to do that, nor is it necessary to complete the Awesmoe Quest.

You should start from the first true room of the swamp (not the one west of that, because that is part of the real world map and mostly next to Haggy's cave). Follow directions. Then end up with going north once more, towards the light. IIRC.

Really? I can't see any reason why changing from full-screen to windowed would have any effect on the music ... if you switch back to full-screen does it start working again?

Yes.

Okay, shameless self-promotion, but I'd like to submit META for consideration in the following categories:

* Best short game because in its thread in the "completed games" forum, many people professed to liking it.
* Best scripting because it implements AGS within AGS, and considering the fact that the four "rooms" within Awesmoe Quest are actually a single room.
* Best puzzles because meta-puzzles are rather rare.

It probably isn't the best AGS resource even though it apparently teaches stuff :) Also, Cuppit tells me that he, as the most glorious blue cup, really deserves to win the award  for the best non-player character, but I think we'd all prefer if he'd shut up for the time being.

Oh as a side point, it may be useful to rename the "best scripting" award to "best programming", to distinguish it from "best script writing" or "best dialogue script" (because in past years, voters have been known to confuse that).

1. If this is 7, what is this?

One! HAH!

Just a random suggestion, but maybe we should list runners-up as well for the larger categories, especially if they're close. That's why the olympic games have silver medals, no?

Depends which you mean...
* Free graphics from the web. Well, they're free, that's what they're there for.
* Graphics ripped from old commercial games. Legally, this is strictly wrong. Morally, I'll leave for yourself to decide. Practically, several popular indie games do use e.g. ripped Sierra graphics to some extent, and this is tolerated even if people prefer original graphics.
* Graphics ripped from another indie game. That's not very nice, you should definitely ask the author first.

1. Chris. Well duh.
2. Let me offer her the compromise of changing half her name.
3. Yes, but let me try and top that.

New questions:
1. Why hasn't this question been asked yet?
2. Which musician's (or band's) CDs make the best frisbees?
3. How many turnips are required to build a staircase to the moon?
4. How come so many people can't count?

Can't get your page to load (well, I get the front page, but any link to yotametal doesn't load). Slashdotted much?

About the fat loud mouth?  Or the "many seem to like"?

Really, he's fat, he's loud, and he has a mouth.

And of course, if this were a movie, there'd be the obligatory revelation that... "Mike.... I am your father! ghghghh"

Meh. Googling for WMDs used to be funnier.

Ooh. Wales! That's near the Netherlands...

Oh, but adventure games can be soooo annoying! I think I'm just going to sue all of you.

When I put my game in windowed mode, for some reason the songs that are MP3s don't play, but those that are MIDIs do.

The following code has an error (the last line should be "ObjectOff (0)" instead), which triggers at runtime. However, AGS reports the top line (the one with "random (2)" in it) as the line in which the error occurs. The error being an invalid object number, by the way.

Code: ags

    if (Random (2) == 0) {
      ObjectOn      (0);
      SetObjectView (0, BIRDIE);
      AnimateObject (0, 4, 6, 1);
    } else ObjectOff (1);

OR DOES HE... ?

Indeed. He has "got the girl" in several earlier episodes most notably around Valentine's day, not to mention having married her in one episode, and each time it didn't work.

Anyway it's mainly a matter of jumping the shark. Shows shouldn't go on too long, and the Simpsons has been overdoing it a bit. I'm not sure what season they're actually showing here, but I've seen a couple of episodes last month that I didn't find at all interesting; and I recently bought the season-3 DVD and it's great.

I'm rather in doubt as to whether Futurama should have continued. Season five has a number of episodes that are among the best (e.g. the Farnsworth Parabox or the final ep) but also a number that were just rather bland (e.g. the cryogenic dog or the transgender bender). IMHO, of course.

Nominations and awards will be entirely by pulbic vote if I run the awards. Looks like no-one else is volunteering to do it yet.

Excuse me if I understood this wrong....
I think you're saying that because it's a lot of work to select nominations, you'd like some volunteers to help you - and since there haven't been any so far you'll have to go with voting instead. That sounds reasonable.
So, any volunteers?
I'd be happy to volunteer myself but it may be better if some people helped who were involved in or at least following last year's award more closely than I have.

Ah yes, must have missed that. Regarding the older crash-with-soundplay bug, it seems to no longer occur on the latest full build of AGS. Since it was a heisenbug I can't fully guarantee it, but I've tested it long enough to be 99% certain.

By the way I found this change, not sure if it's intentional... you can no longer quit AGS games by pressing Alt+F4. Since you can quit just about anything else in Windows with those keys, it's pretty much a habit of mine, and it's more convenient than c-a-del.

#4420
True, but both objections you mention could be solved by having a menu toggle that switches the autosave on or off depending on whether people want it or not. Personally I don't mind if AGS "stutters" for a few seconds every fifteen minutes.
