Yeah, the original post wasn't exactly elaborate, but it seems that some people here are more than ready to leap on anything dealing with religion.  This isn't the first time this has happened.

I know religion, to people who don't believe in it, seems stupid.  But I guess my question is, why torment the people who accept the Bible as truth and Jesus as their Savior?

If you really have an issue with christianity, can't you be respectful and mature about it.

What about that little rule # 2, which says:

Post in a mature manner. Remember, the minimum age here is 16 - if you're unable to act that age, don't post.

What did christians ever do to you to make you so bitter?  Remember just because somebody says they're a christian doesn't mean they really are one.  If they cut you down, criticized you or tried to force their religion and beliefs on you, they aren't much of a christian.

Okay, I've got a tid bit of trouble.Ã,  I'm using dialog options in my game.Ã,  The player needs to be able to tell character2 about something, only if he's asked character1 a certain question.Ã,  I've got a fair grasp on scripting dialogs and so on, but I can't tackle this one.

Here is a simplified example of what I want, in case the above makes little or no sense:

TOPIC1:

So, the ego asks character1:

Ã,  1".How are you?"

character1("I'm fine but...")

then the ego has the option to ask

Ã,  2."But what?"

character1("Well, my goldfish died. And I'm sad.")

okay, the second option, "but what" should enable to inform character2 about character1's gold fish, but ONLY if he actually clicked option 2.

Now, later in topic 2:

Ã,  1."Hello, character2."

character2: "Hi.Ã,  Whats new?"

Ã,  2."Character1's goldfish died. He's sad."

So how do I get option 2 in topic 2 to show up, once ego has spoken with char1, and once char 2 has asked what's new?  I gather from the manual that I'll need to use dialog_request in the main script or something, but this isn't all making sense.  Any help would be greatly cherished and I might even kiss you.

Heh! The good ol' "bad cop/good cop" routine!

The classic battle of good and evil!

Sounds like you're quite anxious to make a game!! But thats not really a bad thing.  But there are a few things you'll need to know.

As Ishmael suggested, in a not so nice of way, it would be wise to read through the AGS manual.  Think about what you want to do, and then apply AGS's capabilities to that.

The folks here are more than willing to help, but you'll need to be a little more specific on what you want to do.

My idea was more of about sitting in the drivers seat with a visible steering wheel.  I'm not really planning on making a driving game, this is just one of those random things.

Every once in a great while a technical quandry pops into my head and I just have to start a discussion about it.  So, is it possible to create a driving simulation with AGS?

A realistic simulation, that is.  Not just an animating road with various objects coming towards the screen to mimmick motion.

I'd prefer to have just the original characters there.  Fighter, Magic User, Thief.  Definately not a necromancer.

I would just like to mention that if he is 25 and you're under 18 there is going to be a very large problem.

My copy runs fine.  The only time I have a problem is if I shrink the game to the desktop and then maximize it again.  Then it restarts my computer.  Other than that the game runs great.

And I LLLOOOVVVEEE IT!!!!!!!

As for the debate about having a real life vs. playng The Sims... just because a game simulates life doesn't mean that it's a substitute for life.

Well said!Ã,  The same goes for an adventure game.Ã,  Just because an adventure game simulates adventure doesn't mean it's players lack excitement in their lives.

...I play games when no interesting things happen in my real life.

Since this game simulates dating, making money, friends etc, I'm very tempted to believe that its biggest audience are the ones who lack these things in real life.
I'm not saying everybody, just the target audience.

Does this mean that the only people who play first person shooters are bloodthirsty mass murders and sadists???
I don't personally think so.  But I do agree that there are some people use The Sims as compensation for lack of a life.

But everybody has different reasons for playing the games they play.
I'm not trying to challange you in a flame war or anything, I'm just raising a point.   ;)    And don't feel lame or loser-like for wanting to give it a try.  It can be really fun at times.   :)

QuantumRich:

Tell us all about the game!!!!!!  Here are a few of my questions:

1. How long does it take kids to turn to teens and teens into adults etc...?

2. Can you buy cars for your sims?

3. Are there any cool weather or season effects???

I'm not sure but I think this has been done before. Ã,  Maybe this should be added to the popular threads area if it hasn't been already.

Well, the name Raggit was bestowed to me by my father. Ã, It all started several years ago. Ã, It was after I had developed a great love for bunny rabbits. Ã, I soon learned how to mimick the grunting sound they make quite well, and since my real name is Robert I was nicked named Raggit. Ã,  A nice cross between Robert and Rabbit.

Andail,

The Sims is a unique game.Ã,  There is really no way to explain WHAT it is that makes it so fun.Ã,  It's like Sim City, you look at it and think "What could POSSIBLY be so fun about building a city?"Ã,  But then you try it out and realize, for some reason it is fun.

Basically you can do pretty much anything you want with your sims.Ã,  I'd suggest giving it a try, but personally, I would wait for The Sims 2.Ã,  I'm quite certain it's going to be the BEST Sims game in history.

Did you ever play Jones in the fast lane??? The sims is like a REALLY hugh version of that game. You get to pursue goals, careers and buy awesome stuff for your Sims.  And you don't have to sit around and watch them eat, wash dishes and sleep.  There is a fast foward button.
