Well, maybe there's a bug with Audacity and your soundcard and drivers.  Maybe you could try uninstalling and reinstalling it?

But if you're looking for a new program, I highly recommend REAPER.  It's free to try (last time I checked) and it's very powerful.

Also, if you're REALLY looking for a new program, and if you have cash to burn, you'd probably have a lot of fun with ProTools.  I use it at college, and it's pretty nice, I guess.  Takes a lot of system power, but can do all kinds of cool stuff.  Beware, it's fussy with anything other than a Mac though.

Hmm, that's bizarre.  What are your computer's stats?  How much RAM?  Also, what are Audacitie's requirements?

Eldkatt, the Star Wars kid's name is Ghyslain Raza, he is a French Canadian and was fourteen at the time the video was made.

My point is not so much about whether you or I can recognize him on the street, but the way the release of the video affected his life and relationship to his family and friends.  In some cases, people who KNOW people who were humilated on YouTube get harrassed about it.  Ghyslain Raza may have to change his name if he ever wants to move up in the world, because people WILL find out who he is.

It's the same with the so-called "Afroninja."  He's a Hollywood stuntman whose career was, more or less, destroyed by an audition tape of him failing a backflip and stumbling off frame when he tries to get back up.  I downloaded this clip to my personal collection when it first surfaced, and only recently learned that he WAS a professional and had doubled for Chris Tucker in the first two Rush Hour movies.  But after the YouTube release, directors and producers began to recognize him as "Afroninja" and distanced their movies from him.

That said, I agree th YouTube IS a powerful force for free speech; perhaps the ONLY avenue left to truly speak your mind.  It's unfortunate that the technology, as usual, is overrun by dweebs and morons more interested in watching people be humilated than speaking out on important issues.

General Discussion / "Prisoners of YouTube"

http://www.radaronline.com/from-the-magazine/2007/02/prisonersofyoutube.php

It's almost impossible that you haven't seen at least ONE or two of the videos listed throughout this thought-provoking article.

I read this at the beginning of this year, and recently found it again, and re-read it.  It's chilling to stop and think about how closely monitored we are, and how hundreds of millions of people across the globe could relive one of our embarrassing moments over and over again, at all hours of the day and thousands of new hits every minute.  It could be captured on a security camera or be shot on a cellphone.  It could happen on the street, on a bus, or in your own living room.

Cameras are everywhere, and millions of people are waiting for the next big viral video to watch, forward, spoof, reference, and comment on.  Think about it:  You could be the next big fucking dumbass faggot loser to get caught on camera getting pwned.

Creepy stuff.  This is why I don't surf the "funny" videos anymore.  I eventually decided that this mass-voyeurism wasn't for me.  After all, how would I like it if somebody caught me on tape during an off day?  Granted, the people who intentionally got up before crowds and made fools of themselves aren't deserving of a whole lot of sympathy.  But the people who were minding their own business but were at the wrong place at the wrong time don't deserve the global humilation that they've gotten.

So that's my take.  What do you think?

Or you can do what the kids are doing these days! Take a dump in a jar or bottle, place a balloon or a condom around the top, put it in the sun or somewhere hot and wait for the gases to gather in the balloon!
Proceed to remove the balloon from the bottle and then inhale the gases!

Oh.  My.  God.   That is the NASTIEST thing I've EVER read in my life.

If I went to America and slept with a 16 year old, would the fact that it's legal in the UK excuse me from abiding by the law there?

Be my guest.  They all dress like little whores and then when they get into trouble with somebody over 18 they pretend they didn't know what they were doing.

Woops, I probably just offended somebody there...

No worries Becky, I tend to get very loud and vocal on these things and end up making people mad.

I should be more careful about my wording of things. :)
#48
It's weird, Becky, because before I even posted I was rooting for you in this arugment and agreeing with what you were saying.

Oh well.

-EDIT-

And for reiteration, I'm not opposed to civil liberties for women.  You've misinterpreted my words to mean that women's rights are crap, when what I'm saying is that FAVORITISM is crap.  Because, at least in America, what is being called "affirmative action" and "women's lib" is actually just favoritism, which is not real equality.
#49
I wasn't speaking in regards to whether or not women should have rights to vote or govern.  Of course they should have those rights.  I'm not sure where you got the idea that I was opposed to civil rights for women from.

When I said that men and women aren't equal to each other and never will be, I was speaking biologically.  Don't think for a moment that I'm opposed to CIVIL rights for men and women.  I'm just sick of hearing "I can do anything as well as a man and better," at the same time that there are special provisions being made here.  That, in my view, is NOT civil EQUALITY.

QuoteAnd before I end my little rant here, I have just one thing to say about the whole men/women/battle-of-the-sexes/equality crap:  Men and women are NOT equal and never will be.  They are entirely different from each other with no standard in between to be judged equal by.

Men and women are both human beings, shouldn't that be the standard of equality?

Ideally, yes.  But it's not.  People are always dividing up into their own little cliques.  People aren't content with saying "we're all brothers and sisters," they like to be "minorities," or victims, with their own watchdog organizations to make sure nobody says anything about them that might be offensive to them, and to make sure that there are "affirmative action" laws in their favor, so they will receive special treatment and consideration.

In an equal world, a woman who wants to be a firefighter should have to pass the same mental and physical training that a man must, instead of just lowering the standard so she can pass so that everybody can PRETEND we're all equal.

I've come to the conclusion that people love to see other people suffer in all forms.  It doesn't matter how much pain they are in, who they are, or how old they are.  America's Funniest Home Videos has made its fortune by showing males of all ages (including young children) being bludgened in the testicles in all imaginable ways.  EVERY time, the audience laughes right along with the people in the video (including parents of the children.)

The internet is widely populated with videos showing the same thing, plus loads more of things that could NEVER be shown on TV.  People being killed, even.  Read the comments on these videos.  The majority are commentse egging it on, with the viewers basking in the violence, and only a handful of people who leave "that's fucked up," and "what's wrong with people," style posts.  I guess I finally decided that I had seen enough of this stuff for one life, so I quit browsing the funny video sites for good.

I've seen this phenomenon my entire life, and some of my earliest memories are of wondering why people are laughing at the person on the ground in agony.

The real point here is that I simply don't care anymore.  People are far more basic than we give ourselves credit for, and I venture to say that the majority of us are sick in one way or another.

And before I end my little rant here, I have just one thing to say about the whole men/women/battle-of-the-sexes/equality crap:  Men and women are NOT equal and never will be.  They are entirely different from each other with no standard in between to be judged equal by.

It's okay Limping Fish, I was taking you too seriously.  It's just been one of those days of mine where every little thing sets me off.  (Male PMS or something.)

#53
No worries mate.
#54
Okay, Limpingfish,

You've made your point.  We all know you didn't like the game.  I'm not asking you to like the game, just show those of us who DO like it some respect and go hang out in another thread if you don't have anything useful to say.

Or else the mods can just go ahead and lock this thread now because no intelligent conversation will be exchanged when you're jumping in at every turn to deliver some childish remarks.
#55
Hmmm, I don't recall asking anyone's opinion on whether or not they liked the game.  Did I?

I just finished GK3 for the first time after having finally obtained a copy.

It's a fascinating game, and incredible story, but I have a question for those of you who've completed it more than once:  Is there more than one ending?

In the ending I saw, Grace leaves while Gabriel is returning to the hotel from the temple after having defeated the villian and returned Prince James' son safely.  When he gets back to the room, he finds her gone with only a note left on the laptop.  He crumples the paper and drops it back onto the computer, and the screen fades out.

This really blew me over, and I was just wondering if I had done something wrong and if there were other endings...  if there are, tell me, but DON'T tell me WHAT they are or what happens.

So now ask yourself what's the most traumatic thing that happens to nearly everyone at this guy's age?   How much do you want to bet this guy doesn't have a girlfriend?

Meaning you speculate he got dumped by a girlfriend and that pushed him over the edge?  Not quite sure what you're saying.

Reading his manifest was a chilling experience for me.  He's saying that the masses are ignorant, the governments are corrupt, justice is not served, and he is speaking of natural selection.  It sort of scared me because these are a lot of the things I talk about frequently: government corruption, the seemingly hopeless and incurable ignorance of the masses and society as a whole, and so on.  So what's to keep me from eventually taking up a gun and killing people?

Sort of a scary question, until I realized something:  He's one of them; the oppressors.  He did absolutely nothing to fight government corruption.  He just killed innocent people.  He went in and forced his philosophy and beliefs on other people.  Yet, isn't that what he was supposedly fighting against?

Yes, the governments are corrupt, yes many people are stupid, yes society is fucked up.  But killing others only makes it worse.  If he didn't want to be in society any more, he should've killed himself only.

These things are so complicated and scary to me.

What's going to happen to society and government?  Are things ever going to improve?  Or are we just going to kill ourselves off?

I just finished watching Michael Moore's latest film, "SiCKO."  Very fascinating stuff, and thought provoking.

I'm gathering up info on other nations and their healthcare systems, and at the same time, I'd like to hear from all of you out there about your own experiences with your healthcare system, and if you're satisfied and well taken care of.

We can certainly discuss the film here, but I'd like to focus on a few of the following questions:

What country do you live in?

What is your experience with and opinion of your healthcare system?

Do you find your clinics and hospitals organized and efficient, or are there people waiting for weeks and months to get in?

What is the price of public healthcare, and is it worth it?

Any input on this topic will be greatly appreciated.  :D

Okay, hold it, hold it, hold it...

You copied the synopsis from a DVD as the description for your game?  Are you ripping off the story and calling it your game?

What's going on here, Branden?

(Good catch on that website, Vince.)

I tend to disagree that you're too young to worry about these things, especially seeing as most kids your age ARE drinking, smoking, and doing drugs.

Like I said before, I think you're mature for your age.  Definately more mature than a lot of your friends.  As long as you think things through from cause to effect and think for YOURSELF, you'll be okay.  Yeah, we all make mistakes, but it's more important that we learn from them instead of trying not to make any at all.

In my experience, the teenage years are full of superficial expectations.  Be yourself, do your own thing, don't worry about what other people think of you.
