AGS Games in Production / Re: NES Quest

This looks to be very funny game :)! I like the graphics very much.

8-bit NES gives much good memories for me...

Good luck for finishing it!

I liked what I have seen so far!
The graphics look good and the sounds are creepy and atmosphering.
The walking animation of Jenni looks somehow weird to me. Maybe you should think of improving that (?).

You should really get rid of "I'm not close enough" thing. It is annoying.

The character scaling didn't really bug me, but I think LimpingFish has a good suggestion about how you could handle that...

Spoiler
As a huge friend of all kinds of animals, I really didn't like it how the player handles the guard dog :(. I can live with that, but this kind of things always makes me think, how does the author think of animals? I would just made the player to drug the dog.
But like I said, I can live with it...

Overall, I am looking forward to this. This could be something special, good luck!

Thanks for being honest :).

As I said in my earlier post, I am looking forward to this. I like'd the demo very much. The only complaints were those what I said.

Hopefully I will win free copy from Just Adventure :), if not, then I might just buy it.

Are you going to sell it through your website?

I just played the demo through and here are my thoughts:

- The graphics looks great, but I don't really like the characters. Jason's walking animation looks pretty bad, I hope this will be better in the final release.

- Also there could be more animation from the characters. Idle animations and when they talk I didn't see any animation from them, expect that the mouths were moving :).

- The toughts thing is very nice. It did take a little time to me to understand it, but it is nice feature.

- I like the story, it really makes me wanting to play this game.

I remember from previous posts that you and your team are doing hard work to get the characters and animations better so i'm sure the final release is going to be much better (?).

Looking forward to this anyway!! Good luck!

This one is Looking absolutely great!

Good luck!

I really like the story/idea in this one.
The graphics are quite good too and when you get better sprites for the main character, it will look even better.

I also like this kind of music you have in this game. What is the song played in this demo?

Good luck for your project!

This one looks very interesting.
I really like the morale idea!

Good luck with this!

Heh, it was just few days ago when I read the old production thread for this game and thought, this could have been a good game.  And now you started to do it again!

It looks great! Good luck for finishing it!

That being said, I do think that the lack of finished games is what drives people away from Wintermute and towards the AGS community. Apart from Five Magical Amulets (and possibly The White Chamber), I haven't seen anything remotely resembling a classical, full length, third person game made with the engine. The fact that one of the earliest games, Dead City, and even the recently released Ghost in the Sheet are in first person (with static, original Myst style screens) gives the impression that making third person games in Wintermute must be cumbersome work. Perhaps it is, perhaps not, but I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary. Hopefully Once Upon a Time in Japan and Until I'm Gone will be able to prove this prejudice wrong.

Until I'm Gone is one of the games that are looking really promising. I  check the website often to see what's happening in that project.

Restless -  a supernatural thriller is also looking very promising. You should check that game, it looks promsing third person game. Sad thing is that it has been put on hold.

This game looks better and better after every new screenshot  :)!!!

I'm really looking forward to this!

It looks like i'm going to stick with AGS. Haven't tried 3.0 yet. Maybe I will try Wintermute some day :)

It sure looks promising, but still I think AGS is my thing for now :).

General Discussion / Wintermute

Has anyone here tried Wintermute?

I recently got to their website and it looks very promising.

I would like to know that if it is as flexible as AGS? Can you make any other type of games than adventure, rpg, management games?

The games page shows very nice looking games and few commercial games in production that I have watched, are made with Wintermute which I didn't know before.

I know that I could ask these in their forum but I want to know opinions from AGS users if there are any?

My goal is to make this game an ultimate horror experience. Only the graphics are a bit retro, but that's the whole point- in the age of 3d shooters to make game with more depth and story then blockbuster titles...

I really hope that you succeed in this, because horror just simply ROCK's  :)!

I really like the graphics-style and all. I hope that the music/sounds will be good too, because they are important thing in horror, in my opinion atleast.

I will definetly give this a try when you release it!

This really looks good. I like RPG games so this will be one that I will keep looking very closely. I hope you finish it soon.

Will the demo be back someday because I would like to try the game?

Very good little game! Excellent graphics, good puzzles. I enjoyed it very much.

Well I tried this because I love the tv-show.

But I have to honest and say, that this was a big dissapointment.

I think that you have rushed too much to put this "game" to download. I mean for example that the extra graphics in the game are pretty hasty made. And there really isn't much to play...
You should made more to play before putting it for download.

But hey, don't get me wrong. I really like the idea (and the tv-show :))and if you are going to make this as a real game, I would definetly be playing it.

Good luck!

BTW: It's ofcourse your decision, but I think this game would be better from 3rd person

Thanks everyone for the critics. It seems that I still have lot to learn :).

I will try to make the image better and send the improved version then.

This was an awesome game, fantastic work!!!

My only minor suggestion is, that it would be nice to see the enemys move when not using zoom, atleast I think they are not showing now?
