QuoteWhy I don't think games are at the same standard, is that they're not advanced enough to portray a vision yet and they're very rarely an artistic vision of one person implemented onto the workings of a team.

How aren't they advanced enough? They're quite far advanced compared to early movies, IMO...

QuoteAlso, the genres, gametypes, and platforms confuse the definition.

Don't books and movies have similar problems (with regards to genres, at least)?

QuoteAnd finally, until a game is truly an full-fledged experience to the player. . .

Err, what? I don't understand what you're trying to say at all.

She was also producer on various LucasArts adventures.

The article quoted in the Game Developer post. (Thanks Idle Thumbs!)

Considering the winner is chosen by voting, why exactly can't your entry be considered?

This topic is almost as funny as the unofficial Mrs. Clause sprite jam a while back.

Grim Fandango, Beyond Good & Evil, and The Longest Journey all had me sad at their conclusions.

Shadows are usually pretty muted in adventure game backgrounds because the characters don't have shadows.

It doesn't matter how the bks were made, Grim Fandango's, Syberia's, etc are still 2D bks (and thus 2.5d games).

I hope the story will be as suitably campy as the title and story excerpt suggest. Specifically, will it involve pirates?

Drawing as a vector (shapes) instead of a bitmap (pixels). Allows for scaling without pixelization, like in Flash videos and whatnot.

Unless you were very clever and came up with a way of having separate graphics for each part of the character... then you could individually change the tint...

That's how RPGs like Diablo, etc do it.

I wonder if anyone remembers my old Scripture...

QuoteIn the beginning, the almighty God created man and Adventure, and it was good. He gave to his greatest followers Lucas and Sierra the power to create Adventure, and to teach others to do the same.

For a time, man lived in harmony with God, aided by Adventure. But then, the Doom came, and evil spread throughout the world. The Second Doom came, and soon after the three Quakes, and Adventure and the worship of God was forgotten.

Then God spoke to his prophet Chris Jones and said to him, "Go forth! And teach all to make Adventure and worship Me!" And the humble Chris Jones said, "Oh Lord Almighty of Heaven and Earth! How can I make Adventure without the ancient tools?"

And so God gave Chris Jones the Adventure Creater, and it was good. He sent Roger, the greatest son of Sierra and an Angel of God, to watch over Chris Jones.

With the word of God and the Adventure Creator, Chris Jones created the Manual, the Holy Word of the almighty God that taught others to create Adventure with the tools given to Chris Jones by the Lord.

Chris Jones then left his home and carried with him only a Blue Cup to show his devotion to his Lord. And he gave the Adventure Creator to others, and the Manual, and soon men were once more making Adventure.

And then He created the Holy Forum for all who worship God and his prophet Chris Jones to gather and help others create Adventure, and it was good.
