Messages - Renegade Implementor

No, not a bug, just something I missed.  Probably shouldn't play these things when it's close to midnight.  :)

I did notice that whenever "Davy" was facing left, the pixels of his sideburn (which is under his glasses frame) would disappear when he talked & reappear when he isn't talking.  It's most noticeable in Elandra's dream in the "forest".  Is this intentional?

I've checked the game out & run into a bit of snag with entering the file path into terminal in Elandra's room.

Spoiler
It doesn't matter which CD I use (blank or Gloomy), after I click either the burn buttons, entering "usr/etc/archive/hdays2175" always brings up an invalid path note.  I've tried adding a slash before usr, a period after hdays2175, nothing seems valid.  It could be the I've interpreted the font wrong but I'm stuck at this point.

Also, it's great to see someone use the theme pack.  It's given me the inspiration to look at it again and see where I can make improvements.

HandsFree- If someone wants to use it, then of course.  It and the other rooms of the entertainment centre aren't connected to the game I'm working on at the moment.

helios123 - Congrats on getting your second game done.

Shamelessly borrowing from the "Release Something" concept, now's the opportunity for people to show off RoN-related material that they've been working on such as: backgrounds, music, screenshots from an upcoming game, updated character sprites (such as Mr. Namyah), an excerpt from a fiction/non-fiction piece, or even a demo.

Closing date will be August 6th.

To get things rolling, here's a background from part of a new entertainment centre that I'm constructing.

Here's the latest batch of characters that are fully animated.  I've uploaded them in an update .cha zip file & in sprite zip file.

If anyone has a specific character who isn't animated that they need for an upcoming game, let me know and I'll try to get them finished.  Otherwise, I'm looking to add Punk Allen to the next batch.

Grabbed, downloading & playing now.  ;D

Great stuff.  Had a look and enjoyed it.  I'll pm you soon with a couple of things I noticed that will need bug-zapping.

The following 4 characters (in Krysis style) have been fully animated with walking & talking animations: The Reality High School Janitor, PC Leon Evans, Biggs, and Vicks (see accompanying pic).  They've been added to a new Krysis style cha pack which can be found on the RoN site.

I'm hoping to get Death done in the next batch of characters.

There's no jaw-drop smiley so you'll just have to imagine one.  The additional characters are amazing.

Oh, and I wasn't trying to imply that you animate everything right away.  Just something that would be nice to see eventually happen one day.  There's no money fund/the things are rather vague/and you're on your own for the last item. :)

Anyway, I'll get that sprite of Drake in overcoat to you later on in the day.

According to his Twitter, DC's currently in Hong Kong.

ProgZmax, wonderful stuff as always.  Who knew Frank could pull off the prison jumpsuit look so well.

Just to run down the list of lined-up characters:

Punk Allen - Recognizable as Punk Allen, the physical presence is fantastic.
Death - Tall, imposing, the fact that you've shown only the eyes gives the character a greater feeling of cosmic importance (for lack of a better term)
Davy - The fact that you've given him different coloured clothes is a welcome break from his standard black outfit.  Great facial expression.
Guido - I like the compromise you came up with regarding Guido's nudist habits.  It's more manageable than a floating "censored" sign.
Chef Lucca - Although physically different, you can still see the family resemblance with Guido in the face.
Melt - Melt's expression is perfect and is his posture.
Drake - His height acts as a great contrast to Melt's, and again you nailed the character's posture.  I might be wrong, but this may be the first (or one of the first) sprites of Drake to give him a nose.  It'd be interesting to see him in his overcoat.
Frank - The subtle differences between both Franks are clear in showing at two opposite emotional points.
? - Great looking figure but I can't place him.  The outfit seems to suggest it's police constable Leon Evans, but the face & figure suggests a pre-teen.  The vest is nicely shaded & I like how you've layered the hair.
Gower - The formal wear looks great (love the top hat), and his tongue is a wonderfully grotesque touch.  Will there perhaps be a two armed version sometime in the future?

Seeing the lineup of who you've done so far makes me want to see them fully animated & more characters done in your style.  Again, great stuff.

These are a wonderfully varied & creative collection of suspects.  It made it very difficult to choose, but in the end, I must declare OneDollar the winner with his visiting African dignitary.

Whether or not she's the actual murderer is anyone's guess.

The purpose of this thread is to serve as a place for people to display a resource (be it background, character sprite, music, etc) that will periodically be collected and added to one of the resource packs on the RoN site.

To start things off:

Just so everyone knows, the RoN site is accessible once more.

There used to be a collection of ags games which included a number of RoN games.  I'm not sure if it still exists or not but that could be an option to finding them.  Otherwise I can give you a list of the games and make arrangements to get them to you somehow if what them immediately.

On another note: while the site is down, I'm providing a small collection of resources until the server gets sorted out.  They're just the backgrounds & cha files in Krysis' style, along with the newest game template.

Reality-on-the-Norm / RoN's 10th Anniversary

Today marks the 10th anniversary of Reality-on-the-Norm.  The site may be temporarily down but the series isn't.

Happy Birthday RoN.

Hopefully the server problems will be sorted soon.

chaotixxs- was there something particular on the site you wanted?

The host of a gathering is found dead and everyone is a suspect.  Your task is to create someone who is at this gathering and who may be the murderer.  This can be a guest or a member of the host's staff.

No restrictions on colour or size.

No restrictions on the time-period.  The character can, for example, be from the 1920-30s, 1100s, or even far flung future.

Thanks very much.  I'm a little shocked as I thought both Buckethead & Dualnames had more visually dynamic sprites in comparison to mine.

Thanks for the competition Derrick, it forced me to try something outside my resolution "comfort zone".  I do like the shadows that were added to the lineup "screenshot", they add a nice touch.

Well, my entry was more along the lines of "teen in school-uniform", although it's generic enough to be open to interpretation.

If you want, the satchel could be filled with scripts to Godspell & Joseph.  The hair would have to be more red in tone, if I read your question correctly. :)

I've not tried something in this resolution before and there are a few spots I'm unhappy with, however, have another entry:
