Hi all.

I got into a conversation tonight down the local and thought this might be a laugh.
It was all to do with television programs we remembered as kids.
Here is the question.

At what point in your life (when you were a young boy or girl watching T.V.) did you ever think "Oh yeah. I want you...Ooh!".
What show was it And who did it for you.

For me I think that 'Daisy Duke' of 'The Dukes Of Hazzard' did it for me. ;)

Can someone please help.

I watched 'Waking the dead- Endgame' tonight.
However I have seen it before. I thought this was meant to be a new series!

My Family thinks I have gone mad.
Either it has been on tv before or I, at some point, have travelled into the future to watch it.
I have trawled through web pages and they all say it was aired for the first time tonight.
I don't undertand cos I knew what was going to happen and the outcome.

Please help me regain my sanity.

What the hell is going on here.

I have been using AGS for a few years now and have also been using AVG as my virus software for longer.
I have been trying to finish a couple of games and so, was, still using AGS 2.72.
There have been no problems.

However tonight my comp did it's usual scan and reported 10 viruses and they were all to do with AGS.
All of the files were EXE files within the AGS creation software and all of the games I have been making.
As luck would have it I have a back up of my main creation on a laptop but all of the games and AGS are no longer working on my main comp.

All of the files were moved to the virus vault and given the name 'Back door, Trojan horse'. I tried to restore these files but alas no joy.
acwin.exe no longer exists within AGS and everything has come crashing down around my ears.

The actual message I get is through AVG is ' Trojan horse Back Door. Hupigon5.IZM'
And as I said before it is all to do with AGS!!

Please can anyone shed some light on what may have happened.

Hi all.

Tis I RetroJay.
I am still using 2.72. (still trying to finish my first game).

I am having a small and annoying problem with character blocking.
I have a character in a room that I want the player to give a wide birth to.
Now within the room that has this character I have this code under 'Player enters room before fadein'
Code: ags

  // script for Room: Player enters room (before fadein)
character[BOB].Solid = 1;
character[BOB].BlockingWidth = 50;   
character[BOB].BlockingHeight = 15;


Now most of the time this works just fine. but every now and then the player character will ignore this and walk straight through [BOB].
Have I got the script for this in the right place or should it be somewhere else.

Hi yall.

I wasn't sure where to post this.
This seemed like a good place as I am not sure if it is graphical or scripting.

First of all I wish to tell you that I am creating my graphics and such with 'Paintshop Pro 9' (which seems to do everything I require).
I have drawn a 'Magnifying Glass' as a mouse cursor and all is well.
However I would love to tint the lense of the Magnifying glass a light blue so as you could still see the background through it slightly when the cursor moves
over it.
I don't know if anyone here has ever seen the 'Nancy drew' games but this is the effect that I dessire.

Hi Peeps.

I know I have not posted for a while. I have been suffering from depression.
Maybe some of my few posts, lately, have shown this. If they have then I am sorry.

Anyway. I want to ask if anyone here is a fan of "Nightwish"?
I came across them a few weeks ago and, it has to be said, I love them.
However I must say that I preferred "Tarja Turunen" on lead vocals over "Anette Olson" especially on live performances.

What do you think?

Hi all.

Got into a conversation the other day about a tv program I remember called Kinvig (I think).
It was about a shop keeper who had a female alien land in his back yard. (as far as I remember).

I was just wondering if anyone else remembers this show. I can't think how it ended, even if it did. I don't think it was very popular.

Ooh! Another one was "Saphire and Steel". I always remember the one at the ghostly train station. But there was another one where they were
trapped in a room with pillows that turned into big birds and attacked them. Does anyone remember that one?
Saphire was Joanna Lumley (spelled wrongly I suspect) and Steel was (?). I think it was the guy from "Man from uncle" but I can't remember his name.

Hello. And a happy new year to you all.

Sorry I have not been in touch (for those people who know me).

I have had catastrophic problems with my old comp and have been trying to get to know a new comp, that has an attitude problem.
The only part that survived from my old comp was my hard drive, Thankfully, and am now trying to retrieve data from CD backup and HD.
Another prob is that my working hours have changed and so I now have to work my creative mind around them. ::)

For all of those people that have helped me in the past such as InCreator, Khris MUC, Gillbot and many others. Thankyou. There are many others but
you all know who you are.

Hi all.

OK. Lets start this by saying that I have endured many injuries in the past.

I have broken my, arm, ribbs, knuckles (more than once) and a hip bone (that I didn't break but appeared through my skin, that was torn open revealing the offending bone).

Strangely enough none of these caused me much pain.

However. Two months ago. A filling came out of my tooth. I left it for a while cos I have a fear of dentists and it didn't seem to be bothering me much....

But then.

It became infected. I have never felt pain like it!!

I am happy to say that my tooth was saved. I am no longer in pain. And I no longer have a fear of dentists.

Please share your injuries HERE.

Oh. Also forgot to mention the removal of in-growing toenails. That hurts. Well it doesn't hurt. Just don't watch. If you watch then it hurts!! ;D

Hi all.
I hope everyone is well.

Firstly, as always, I am using AGS 2.72.

I have created dialog between my character and an NPC and all works fine. I have also done this many times before.

Now for my question.
If you talk to an NPC and the topic branches off into another set of question and you select "Goodbye".
The next time you speak to the same character is there a way of picking up the conversation where you left off without going all through the same dialog again.

I have looked through the manual and searched for answers but to no avail.
It's not a huge problem as all is going well. It's just something that may make things seem more fluid within my game.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi Guys.

Firstly I am using AGS 2.72.
I have read the manual and searched for my answer but have found nothing that helps.

I have a sound effect that I am trying to play on channel 3. There are no other sounds on channel three cos I left it open specially for this sound.
The effect is to loud and I have tried everything I can think of to adjust the volume. Nothing works.
I have no problem with adjusting ambient volume. That's simple.

things I have tried from the manual are not working (probably me doin' something wrong) or changes the overall volume of the entire game. 
I would be most grateful if someone could help me with this silly and annoying problem.

Hi Peeps.

First of all I am using AGS 2.72.
I am really pleased with myself cos I just sorted a prob all by myself. ;D Well I can't take full credit as the manual did help.
But I have another prob that I can't find the answer to.
Lets say for instance I have two rooms (lets be clever and call them 1 and 2). Now I start in room1 and can't find anything to look at. So I go into room2 and look at a picture (Hotspot/object) which gives me some dialog. This part is not a prob. But now when I go back into room1 a Hotspot that was hidden before is now visible.
The thing is I only want the hotspot in room1 to become visible only if the player has looked at the (Hotspot/object) in room2.
Is there a way of doing this.

Hi everyone.

I have been looking at the online manual and browsing the forums trying to find the answer to my question with no luck.
All I need to know is how does one script the line "Conditional: If Player Has Been In Room".
In the script editor it doesn't show a "script equivalent" of this.

Lets say for instance that you are at a door in room 10. It doesn't open because you have not been to room 2.
But if you have been to room 2 then the door in room 10 opens.

I know the "If player previous room" script but this doesn't give me what I need.

any help would be fantastic.

Hi everybody.

Just been thinking ( A dangerous thing to do I know! ) ;D
But if I want to put a music track to my game from a CD I already have and ( as far as I know no one can copy it from my game files ) share my game with you good people.
Is that still breaking copyright rules ?

It's a beautiful piece of ENYA work and would love to have it in my game.

Like I said it's just somethi'n that I'm not totaly sure about and would like some clarification.

Hi peeps.

Please help me I'm going mad. :(
First of all I am using AGS 2.72.

I am begining to panic cos I feel that something is going wrong!

I am trying to make some things happen the very first time you enter a room. (I do not want them to happen again).
All I want is for the character to enter the room, walk to a specific point, face a direction and say something. Sounds simple doesn't it.
However if I open up the "Player enters room for the first time" tab and run a script and type what I want i.e. "character[whatever].walk(?,?);"
and then "character[whatever].FaceLocation(?,?);" it doesn't work.
Although if I use the inbuilt comands within the editor everything works.
What the hell am I doing wrong?

Please help me.

Hi Everyone.

Right. I am doing very well with my game although still a long way to go. But I have a small annoying problem.
In one of my rooms I have a piece of machinery that moves up and down. For this I use-
Code: ags

object[0].SetView(7);
object[0].Animate(0,5,eRepeat,eNoBlock,eForwards);

Now some things happen and the machine grinds to a halt. For this I use-
Code: ags

if (object[0].Animating) {
  object[0].StopAnimating();
}

This is my question.
Is there a way that I can get the animation to stop on a specific frame?  (At the moment it stops on whatever frame it wants).
Also, just out of interest, is there a way to start an animation on a specific frame?

Any help would be wonderful.

I have been looking for a way to share my first attempt at the first part of a game I made.
However I do not have a web site of my own. I have heard of (and read) about "freewebs.com" on the forums here and after looking at this site seems to be just what I need.
But reading some feed back on the forums here people don`t seem to like it. (I could be wrong). :-\

Please any help on this subject would be appreciated.

Hi everyone.
First of all I am using AGS 2.72.
Right before anyone tells me to read the manual or search for the answer. I Just want you all to know I have done this and came up with a few things I
thought would help but alas they did not. :(

I have a scrolling room of 1920x480 (a picture of outer space). Now what I am trying to do is create an intro sequence where the room scrolls from left to right.
But I want it to stop scrolling half way through. What I mean is that the room is three 640x480 sections. the first section will have writing on it I then want it to scroll to the next section (after mouse click) and then onto the third section (after mouse click). -(God I hope this is clear enough!)
Obviously the player character is not vissible because its a readable story intro with still pictures.
Can anyone help me please.

Hi All.

Tell me has anyone seen this movie.
If so then I am sorry!!

Tis the biggest steaming mound of dragon dump I think I have seen for a long time.
Most of it is filmed in near darkness and the parts I could make out were shite.
All they needed to do was throw in a lunar eclipse and you could watch a black screen (It might have been a good film then!) ;D
The acting sucked and I just wanted the PREDATOR (Yeah right!) to kill everyone as I had no emotional feelings for any of the human characters.
Oh and in the 10% of the film that was daylight they might aswell put in a solar eclipse. That way you might think it a duff DVD and get a refund!!
AVP I thought was a good film but PLEASE avoid this (AVP2) like the plague.

Hi all. ;)

First off I am using AGS 2.72.
I have two buttons in my game room that I have made hotspots out of. One opens a door and the other opens a monitor screen.
I have no problem getting them to do this. I want the player to be able to activate whatever button he/she wants first. This also is not a prob.
The problem I am having is this.
I want it so as if you activate the door button before the monitor button (you get sucked out into space). ;D
But If you activate the monitor button first some dialoge appears saying "It looks safe out there" or something like this.
Then you can activate the door button without the (getting sucked out into space) part.

Some help would be fantastic as it means this room would be complete and I can move on.
