If you only have two modes, why do you need buttons at all? Why can't you use the standard "left-click=use, right-click=look" control scheme?

You are quite right I could do that.
Personally, though, I prefer 'Look' and 'Use' buttons.
I find that having buttons on an inventory screen makes what you are doing feel more 'hands on'. :-\

Or it could be that i'm just a sucker for buttons. :P

Here is my Inventory window

On a serious note.
My inventory window is just a slightly modified version of the default and I decided to keep the buttons.

I spoke with my Bro about this issue, who has played every adventure game going, and he said "This is good"... So there. ;)

Hi Tabata.

I Totaly agree.

Gears are the way to go. :)

In the game I am making I have my inventory screen.
Within this screen I have two buttons. One is an eye (examine item) and the second is Gears (use item).
You select the 'Gears' icon and then the item you intend to use.

Hi AnasAbdin.

I use a 'Linksys Wireless-G with speed booster'.
This is quite old now but I've never had any probs with it.
It always shows that I have an excellent signal and in general I'm very happy with it.
If I do, ever, need to buy a new one I will definitely go for a 'Linksys' one again.

Hope this helps.

I confess, I like 7. However, there can be no denying that it is allergic connecting to XP... Always been full of issues, there.

It would appear that I am suffering the, afore said, issue.
I turned my 'Win7 Laptop' on tonight and it has, graciously, decided to show all other comps on my 'Home Network'. ???

However.
I have NEVER been able to see 'Win7' or 'Vista' on my 'XP Desktop'.
I got around this prob by allowing 'Users' on my 'XP Desktop' to change my files.
This way I can put files needed from 7, or Vista, in to XP from their computers.

I hope that you all understand my ramblings... I find it hard to understand, myself.

Thank You for your sympathy.
Jay.

Hi.

Thank you for your replies and suggestions.

I think I have found the prob.

Wonkyth.
My brothers win 7 machine could see XP, last night.
Today he received a Net Framework update and now cannot see XP. :o
So it would appear as if the update has cocked things up.

LUniqueDan.
I like option 3. I hate win 7 with a passion. ;)

It makes me wonder if XP is gradually being pushed out in favour of Win 7.
Are Microsoft, underhandedly, forcing everyone to go Win 7?

Is it, The Naughty Version Of, The Wizard Of OZ?

Has anyone read my other post regarding Win 7 Network probs?

Help me Please.
I don't know what is going on here. :(

Hi all.

I want to run a problem by you all that has happened this very evening. (The Twilight Zone music plays in background.)

I have a win 7 laptop and an XP desktop.
My win 7 laptop has always been able to see my XP desktop on the home network. (There has never been a problem).
However. Tonight my win 7 laptop has decided that it no longer wishes to acknowledge my XP machine. ???
It finds my brothers win 7 comp but just will not show any XP machines. My father has an XP netbook and I can't even see that now. :(

In short. Everything win 7 it finds. Everything XP it doesn't.
It all worked perfectly before tonight and I have done nothing to stop it from seeing these comps.

Any thoughts as to why?

Many thanks.
Jay.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

Shit!

I knew that. >:(

I love that film.
The Matrix meets 1984, that's what's written on the back of my DVD.

The way thing are going, this film is not far from the truth. :(

Hi Iceboty and Monkey.

Thank you for your replys, and the info.

I assume that it is ok to just delete the agr file from my compiled folder then. :-\

Hi Peeps.

As most of you know, by now, I am trying to finnish my game using AGS 2.72.

Last night I was doing some testing to my game 'The Lost Prince Of lorden'.
I wanted to use one of the debuging tools, you know the 'ctrl + bla' keys.
For some unknown reason I pressed 'Alt and R' and a recorder started counting. ???

When I looked in my compiled folder for my game I now have an, untitled, agr file there.

My questions are... 1. What is the recorders purpous ? (as there seems no way of playing anything back.)
                               2. Can I delete this agr file from my compiled folder ?
                               3. What the hell is an agr file ? :-[

Many Thanks.
Jay.

I think it is 'Le Madee Maxee'.  :D
Or. 'Le Hitchee Hikeree'.

Frankly my dear, I haven't a F*****G clue.

Tabata still wins for Best Use of Smileys :P

I totally agree.
She is, without a shadow of doubt, the 'Queen of smileys'. ;)

Googling "Free Smileys" returns most of the sites Tabata has used.  :P

Hi Wonkyth+.

Well... That was easy.

I now see how this works.

Thanks.

Hi All AGS'ettes

It's nice to know that the fair sex also enjoy playing and making games. (I assume you do as you are here... unless my assumption is incorrect.) ;D
So many times I hear how 'They' say women don't like this sort of thing.

This thread proves that 'They' (whoever 'They' are) don't know everything.

Tabata.
Where the hell do you get all your smileys from?
I love that one holding the Voodoo doll over the flame.

Thanks Domino.

Ok Peeps.

Here goes.
This might get difficult... Or not. :-\

Edit:
I'm very sorry but I must now crawl off to my crypt. The sun is starting to rise. :o
Speak to you tonight, all being well.

Hi All.

UPDATE: 31/8/2011
-------------------------

Just a quick update on progress for 'THE LOST PRINCE OF LORDEN'.

I have all rooms, Graphics and story (for Part 1) completed... I think. (Maybe a few modifications here and there.)
I have to make sure that everything works as it should and that all spelling is correct. (I have Family and friends to do this.)

As things are going at the moment.
---------------------------------------------
The release date is still the end of this year.
Any earlier and you will be the first to know. :)

Thank you.
Jay.

That is not LEGEND on the computer monitor.
No. I know it's not.
I thought that I would just test you all. ;)

Right. F**k it.
I don't know what it is. (I should know. I know I know.)

Edit:
OOoohh.
It's one of the 'Final Destination' movies... I think.
What one though I don't know. Let's say 4.
