Let me try to explain.
I have a 640x480 room with no 'walkable areas' as it is a close up of a photo you have examined.
The corner of the photo has been torn off.
I used my paint package to remove the corner of the photo and created an object from it.
I want to now place this object in my room completing the photo.
Obviously this will not be visible until you find the corner later in the game and attach to the photo from you inventory.
This however is the problem. The object looks fine in the editor but is out of line in the game.
I hope you understand and can help. Thanks :)

Hi.
I`m having a problem with objects.
When I create an object and place it within my room it looks fine and in place.
When I test my game the object that looked fine in the editor is a few pixels out and looks out of place.
What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be....Well....Very helpfull.:)

RickJ. Do you hate vista as much as me!
Do you have a brother that, unfortunately, brought a Vista machine and now asks you to sort out every brob he has?
Vista is supposed to be more 'USER FRIENDLY'.
I don't think so!
It is S**T.
I still use the good old XP. But I hear that support for XP is soon to stop.
So whatever way you look at it, one day or another, we will all be using a S**T opperating system. :'(

 :Hey!
I got vids working.
A guy on Anaconda, lighthouse, forum said he got vids working by pressing the 'windows' key as the vids started.
You shouldn't have to do this but there is a compatability issue with vista.
Now at least my brother can see the story!

P.S. Press the 'windows' key twice to get rid of the start program list. You are just left with the start bar then.
However all vids work just fine.

General Discussion / The Munsters
Wed 03/10/2007 00:55:51
Hi all.
Please help! After a few drinks tonight me and my mates, somehow, got onto the topic of 'The Munsters'.
Now one of my mates swears that 'Robert Prosky' the guy who played 'Grandpa Fred' in 'Gremlins 2' (he was the one dressed as a vampire)
played 'Grandpa Munster' in one of the newish remakes of 'The Munsters'.
The rest of us weren`t sure of this.
A heated but friendly dispute took place that eventually drew other drinkers into the debate, none of which helped our plight, and only confused the issue.
Can anyone help? :)

General Discussion / Re: making animations
Thu 27/09/2007 04:23:39
I have been just making different layers and making them slightly transparent compared to the layer before.
This allows me to just see the frame before and drawing the next frame over it. I use 'Paintshop pro 9'
Is this how everyone else does it or should I be using an animation program?
If I should be using an animation package then where could I obtain one FREE from please.

Yes. I agree with Ghost. I saw a demo of this game only a few days ago and was most impressed.
The graphics do look superb and the humour is funny.
The puzzles too look quite difficult.
Like many games though I hope this one stays true to the demo and doesn't dissapoint.

Well it would appear, after many E-mails to Lighthouse Interactive, that the German version needed the 1.1 patch to work.
However the English version had already been patched to 1.1 prior to it's release.
So....There isn't a patch out for the English version which means that Vista users, such as my brother, will probably have problems.
Although it has already been patched my bro still has no video.
But the actual game seems to run fine. So if you want to know the story then install it onto an XP machine, watch the cut scenes, then play
the game on your Vista machine. ;)

P.S. Strange but after saying that Amazon had this game down as all OS. That field has now been wiped.
Please pay note. If you want to play 'UNDERCOVER- Operation Wintersun' on Vista then move to Germany.
Otherwise play it on XP and enjoy it. ;D. If anyone in England does get videos working then please let me know. Thanks.

Thankyou Ghost.
I must be doing something wrong.
I tried one of the two patches I found. One says "Patch without videos" and the other "Patch with video".
So naturally I tried the "patch with video" as this is the problem. I have No video!
I unzip the files to my Documents and run the patch from there. The patch seems to run and in the "Undercover" game directory "Patch 1.1" is present.
But when I play the game I still have no video.
When I look in My Documents there is a folder titled "NOT SET" which has a new "Undercover.EXE" and various other icons for the game.
I even tried moving these to the "Undercover" Game directory and setting the orriginals to ".Bak" files.
But when I try to run the game a message appears saying "WRONG DISK".
Oh Please help me. AAAAAAaaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh!

P.S. I didn`t mean to offend anyone that has VISTA (urg!). I Just don`t like it.................Yet!

Hi. Has anyone played undercover- Operation Wintersun on a machine running (Dare I say it) VISTA.
My brother purchased this game from Amazon as they said it was for all OS including (Dare I say it) VISTA.
I`m sorry but everytime I say VISTA I break out into a rash!
Anyway all other sites I have been to also seem to have got it wrong as it has not been made with V....That OS in mind according to the very short and uninterested E-mail I got from Lighthouse Interactive.
The problem with the game is that there is no video. Sound to the video- Yes. Video- no!
The game itself runs fine and looks to be a good (point and click) adventure. Now I tried it on my XP machine and everything including videos work just fine.
Has anyone else had this video problem on V..V..Vista (If I say it quick I might be ok).
I can only find two patches for this game and they are for the German version.
But I thought that I would let you all know that whatever you hear Undercover- Operation wintersun has NOT been made with Vista (damn!) in mind.
If anyone has managed to get video working on Vis..Vis..Vista then please let me know how. Thanks.

Thanks for the help guys. It sounds simple enough.
If I draw my character first and then cut it I could then create a 640x480 background and paste my character onto it as a new layer.
This would then allow me to draw my background around the character and after I was finished just remove the character layer.

Hi everyone. First I just want to say what a fantastic program AGS is (Like you didn`t already know that). Secondly I have made the first part of a small game for my younger brother who very much enjoyed it. I am pleased with this cos I never made a game before and AGS made it so easy.
However I want to make a better (I think the term is sprite) character.
Say I create a game of 640x480 and I want the character (or sprite) to be about half the hight of the screen do I draw (using my paint package) a character the full height of the screen and rescale it to half or just draw it the size I want and be done.
The reason I ask this is because I want to make a fairly detailed character. But when I test my game the character seems not so sharp and clear as when I drew it and the detail is somehow lost.
If anyone could give me a few pointers on drawing characters (or sprites) I would be most gratefull. The paint package I am using Is
Paintshop Pro 9.
Please forgive me as this is the first time I have ever tried to post anything into a forum and I hope I have done this right!
