Lol.. wellI'm trying... haaha

I think i have done everything right... made a file called DW in my C: drive, copied all the files off the disc to it. Then mounted the C drive in DoxBox as mount c C:\DW\
this gives me a dir of the correct files.

I then mount the d as: mount d D:\

then i try to start the batchfile:

D:\disc
(Also tried C:\DW\disc)

*****FIX**** WoOOO***

I wasnt mounting the CDROM you have to type mount d D:\ -t cdrom

it worked after that.. just have to work out how to get the sound working now...

it auto runs for a second, says Driver to install (I leave it as C) I think this is for the sound driver.

then it creates a new dir in the DW folder called DISCWLD.CD but says that it cannot locate the Discworld cd.

The cd is in the D:

Im not sure what else to do...

I got a bit nostalgic a while ago, and bought all the disc world games off ebay...

To my shock and horror though, it wouldn't run on Vista...

I have been on a few faq's and they have all directed my to downloading a Dos emulator.

I didn't want to do this, as I don't like downloading programmes onto my pc unless Im 100% sure it's safe. (Uni work)

I reluctantly downloaded DosBox (or something like that) and spent about 2 frustrating hours trying to figure it out.

This was over a year ago, and I have only just thought to come here and ask for help ( STUPID lol ;D )...

I was wondering if Ags could emulate it somehow.. (Since all the Ags games I download work fine).

If not do you know of an easy way to get it working?

Thanks in advance....

Since the age of 15 (22 now) I have never used a guide, no matter how stuck I have got. This included all the Myst Games (didn't even use the in game hints...)

I think one of the last games I used a guide on was The Dig, and it was a crap Japanese translated pile of mumbo jumbo... I remember one section in the guide:

Spoiler
"Touch the 'it' and it will disappear"  meaning Touch the 'Statue' and it will disappear.

lol.. good times... Soo, too many games to count... Erm I would include Monkey Island 1 and 3 (Never played 2 or 4), and Space Quest 1,2,3,4 (still have to do 5 and 6) and of course all the Myst games (not any of that online rubbish tho). And probably lots of other Adventure Games...

I think the whole concept is silly, and the trailer looks even more cheesy. I just can't see what's so "cool" about men in tight pants flying around. But I guess that's just why Donald Duck got so popular in Finland. All this batman - superman stuff just sounds a bit if not retarded, then immature to me. :P

I don't remember Donald Duck ever wearing tight pants and flying around... in fact now that i think about it, he never put pants on... however when getting out of the shower he'd put a towel on.. what's with that...?

I pity people who think Comics are immature and for kids... You are shutting yourself off from such a fantastic form of media. Also if you took the time out to look at watchmen, you'd realise that the very thing you are talking about is tackled in the film. They discuss how sill it was to dress up and become vigilantes.

You are entitled to your own opinion I agree, but there are ways of expressing opinions without being rude.  :P

The end makes the trick...

Spoiler
I dont know if it's just because I do magic too.. But it is quite obvious that you palm the card at certain points. Im sure with more practice it will become more fluid.

Other than that... this is a nice trick... Im impressed...  ;D

Never rule it out, if it makes enough money. After all, they are bringing back I am legend

A sequel to I am Legend? Now that just silly! What sort of nonsense will Hollywood try next? A sequel to Planet of the Apes? What could you possibly do with that? Send another astronaut back? Have some sort of mutants worshiping a bomb or something? Or send the Apes back in time (somehow) to the Planet of the Humans? Madness! Next thing I know, you'll try to convince me Hollywood might be dumb enough to make a live-action version of the Flintstones!

- Ponch

Yeah right.. who would they get to play Fred? I mean maybe John Goodman at a push, but he'd never agree to that career shattering role... But then who would play Barney?  I guess I havn't seen Rick Moranis play a good old comidic role in a while.. In fact with my casting skills they could pull off the greatist live action flintstones film ever... Lets mix a young Haley Berry in there, why the hell not!!!

lol...  ;D

Im impressed with Makeout Patrol. getting sooo much from just the film. Rorschach's character is very black and white. no grey what so ever.. He was apparently based on a character created by Steve Ditko called 'Mr A' who was also right/wrong no middle ground, uncompromising principles and incorruptibility.

Also a line from the comic was left out of the film, a line that captured Rorschach completely, he is referring to the material that makes up his mask, but it's an obvious parallel to his own belief system:

"Black and white. Moving changing shape... But not mixing no grey."

Nice mix of comments coming through, which is what I wanted when I started this post.

A couple of things: some of you have mentioned the soundtrack, yeah I thought at points the music choice was bad, and perhaps more time should have been spent on its selection.

I cant wait for the DVD, to see if they manage to hold together the entire film when its over 3 and a half hours.

I can understand a lot of peoples disappointment in the film , especially if you read the comic way before hearing about the film. I my self read comics all the time. And had heard of Watchmen being this cult classic and a must read before you die. But it wasn't until I heard there was a film coming out that my interest peaked. Also got it at Forbidden Planet (comic shop) for under £10. I read it and steered clear of the trailers so it wouldn't give anything away for me. I finished it at the start of February, so I didn't have long to wait for the film.

Overall a mix of comments from every one, keep them coming. Also those who have posted on the wall saying they are going to see it, please post back again when you have and we can see what you thought...

Also remember Spoiler pages, if you think it might spoil the film or comic.

Spoiler
For example the fact that Veidt is the costume killer, or the change of the ending, or the squid. (veryweirdguy on ur  second post  ;D )

Hello all....

I watched the Watchmen film last night. And I thought it was really good. Probably the best adaptation they could have done.  ;D

I have read the Graphic Novel and was impressed how much they kept it as close to this as possible (without the film being 7 hours long)

I just wanted to know what people thought of the film. Those who have read the comic, what did you think? and those who have never read it at all.

Massive Spoiler Below, comic and film:
Spoiler
Also what did you think about the changed ending? I thought that in order to do the actual ending with the genetically altered squid would have taken a lot more time to explain in the film. I think it was a needed change. When I heard that they had changed the ending, I was expecting them to save everyone before Veidt killed millions of people, I thought it might have been too controversial for film. But they did it.

So what did you think?

Also, another big riddle is - where could I actually get answers to questions like this? I mean, apart from having physics/anatomy/whatever professor as a friend? Internet might have everything, but sometimes seems to lack very basic knowledge of scientific progress. Wikipedia/howstuffworks/etc well-known sites are brief and other sites are either well hidden or non-existing.

Kind of sad that the flagship of information age can satisfy any crazy request for porn, but not knowledge...  >:(

Well if you live in the UK there is a place you can txt with any question and leave them to search the internet for an answer. There is a huge team of them. (Plus it is likely that some one has already asked your question and they have an answer.) It costs £1 tho, so make sure its a good question.

I have used them a number of times, if i have needed an answer and have been away from an internet connection. or if I can't find the answer online. They usualy txt back within 30 mins. (Max i have waited was about 2 hours)

The company is called AQA (Any Question Answered) and the number to txt is : 63336

Hope this helps anyone...

@Stupot:   I live just north of Manchester and pretty much all of the people i know call them Cans
eg:  "Hi, would you like a Can of <insert generic drink> ?"
But at the same time we do not refer to the generic drink as anything other than its brand name or 'Can'
eg:  "Could you pass us a can out of the fridge"

Hope this helps...

Hello... I like the style your going for... You have improved alot just over these few pages...

One thing that is bugging me about your image is still the perspective...

(don't get me wrong I suck when it comes to perspective, but reading up on it I have gained some rules)

Here is what I mean:

Here the individual objects don't line up to one vanishing point. (As you can see via the extended lines) However the mat on the floor has a nice vanishing point (GREEN)

So from there I drew a horizon line (PURPLE)

And then using the (GREEN) vanishing point, I drew perspective lines (RED) out from it in the direction of the objects and the walls.

From there I drew new object lines (BLACK)

As you can see the perspective was slightly off on some objects.. but it was the left hand wall that was the main culprit.

And here is the image on its own.

I hope this little tutorial helps you. (And I hope that there arn't too many images for the Moderators  ;D )

He has also given me permission to use it in my coursework. (as long as i reference lol) so all is good.

I have actually submitted the work now..

I'll let you know what transpires...

lol... I meant the Perspective of the Light...   ;D

EDIT:

Ah, just noticed that this is in-fact not a photo. It's a 3d render.

I will have to find another Reference Pic.

It's one thing using a reference pic, another using someone else's 3d model.

Thank you for posting the pic up and reminding me to grab the website to go in my Bibliography.

I will have to disband that concept art...

No wonder when I looked at it I was impressed with the layout.

At least me not noticing it was a model, is a credit to his work.

Hello, as some of you can see, I have been posting a lot of Uni related work up. This is the last

I would mainly like crit on the Shading of the Character. And the layout / Style of the BG.

Thanks for the crit.

Yeah.. I forgot to mention that it was concept art.. lol (and over the top action lol).

I will grab the pencil art I have done, and scan it in (as soon as I get to uni)...

Hello, I have been using Photoshop (for the first time really) to draw some concept art for a university project.

I am thinking of making it a night scene now, and was hoping for some tips.

Here is the daytime scene I have created:

And here is the night scene that I have created:

EDIT:

Here is a 3rd I have quickly thrown together, using different techniques:

Im not that bothered about perspective (unless there is a really bad example).

Any other crit is welcome as always,
so are any paint overs...
