For your first consideration:

Story:
Old Woman Beardychin, a mature lady with inconvenient facial hair, is quite content to follow the same routine day after day, when suddenly her life is turned upside down by the arrival, and subsequent departure, of a Scruffedy Bumtious. Thus begins an frustratingly epic journey, full of peril and mishaps, which takes Beardychin far away from her safe and comfortable home. Will she ever find the Bumtious again?

For your second consideration:

Story:
Made for MAGS November 2016, with the theme "Afterlife". The Psychopomp must guide newly dead souls to the Hereafter, but can they make the journey to safety?

Please consider either of these games for any suitable award category.

Yay! I'm glad you're inspired by the theme, slasher. I hope you can get a game done! ;-D
#643
Thanks for pointing that out, Cassie! It's always nice to your game getting out there, and it's a lovely review. :)

Psychopomp is the winner of MAGs November 2016! :-D Huge thanks to everyone who voted, it means such a lot to know that people enjoyed the game!

I'm going to start working on an updated version of the game soon. I'm currently planning on making some small fixes, but I might try and improve the graphics a bit and make some of the puzzles a bit more intuitive. I'll see how I get on before I commit to anything, though! :-D

Wow, thank you so much to everyone who voted! And congratulations to Blondbraid, that was pretty close! And well done to Mandle, since it's the taking part that counts! ;-D

Really, though, I never thought I'd ever win a MAGs, so thank you al so much! :-D

Thank you for the lovely comments, I really appreciate all the feedback! :)

All the entries are fantastic, but my vote goes to the graveyard by Fred Five.

Ha! That track has just the right kind of eerie feel for this kind of thing. Hopefully you're not too sick of hearing it. :P Thank you for the comments, though. :)

Yeah, the inventory system needs more work. I don't think it's too bad in the dungeon, because the table is right there to put everything on, but I agree it's a bit annoying once you've got the torch. I didn't have enough time to add extra animations, so I just disabled everything as a quick fix. I know there are better ways that I could have handled it, though, and I'll have a bit of a think about it sometime. :)

Good luck, Mandle! You can do it! :-D

Thanks, Blondbraid! I've just played Fallen Soldier, and it's really thought-provoking and quite emotional. You've done a really fantastic job!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I've used some of your music in my MAGS game, and I've credited you at the end. :)

Thank you for the comment! I completely agree that the backgrounds are pretty awful. They looked a lot better in my head than they ended up looking on screen! (laugh) I wanted to add a lot more detail, but I just ran out of time in the end.

Quote from: Blondbraid on Mon 28/11/2016 16:32:27Now this isn't technically about the game, but having to first install zip extractor and then download it to google drive and then download it from google drive felt like an overly complicated solution for downloading and playing the game.

I was having a lot of trouble getting it uploaded anywhere and I panicked a bit because I wanted to make sure I got it up before the deadline for MAGS, since I'm going to be busy over the next few days. I have no idea why it wasn't working earlier, but I've managed to get it up at Mediafire now, so I've swapped the link on the game page for a Mediafire one. :)

It's a shame you couldn't make the deadline, xBRANEx. Will you keep working on it and release it sometime anyway?

I can't wait to play your entry, Blondbraid! It looks really good!

Here's my entry: Psychopomp

Is it OK for the game to focus on characters who already reside in the afterlife, rather than people who have died?
#656
You can use the code in this post by Radiant to create a custom paused state, rather than using the built in one.

Sonic and friends in: Club House by Slasher

Another fun game from Slasher! I really like the use of different characters in this one, and the puzzles were very good. Great work! :D

This game has a lot of potential, and works really well as a demo. The concept is great, and the graphics and animations are lovely. A full game would be fantastic!

Some great games this month! Well done, everyone! Here are my comments:

Sprouts of Evil by slasher:
Spoiler
This was fun! There could have been a wider range of puzzles to make it a bit more challenging, but it was a great idea.

Graveyard by CaesarCub:
Spoiler
I actually found this game genuinely spooky. The graphics are amazing and the atmosphere is perfect. The puzzles are all well thought out and implemented. As others have said, a bit more could be done with the multi-character aspect, but this is still a really great game as it is.

Club of Evil by Dog Rat:
Spoiler
This is also a fun little game! I thought it was a nice twist on the theme to have people become nicer when the evil is extracted. The puzzles were decent, and I liked the contrast between the colour of the studio and the black-and-white flashbacks. Really good work!

The Starry Sky Above Me by xBRANEx:
Spoiler
I wasn't really sure what was actually happening in this game. I was shooting the "evil" orange blobs, but I couldn't work out what was making my health decrease. It looks fantastic, though. If you set up a good story behind it then a full game that looks like this would be really stylish.

MINDBOGGLER by Ibispi and Babar:
Spoiler
The idea behind this game seems like it could be interesting, but it all ends before the story really gets going. Obviously, it's still quite unpolished, but well done for getting it finished! That's a really great effort to get it done in only a few hours.

So my vote goes to...
Spoiler
Graveyard! Club of Evil was a close second, but I felt more immersed in Graveyard's story and atmosphere.
